    American Wood Reface
Mary Jo came out to our home to show us the product in Mid March.  My husband is an engineer and VERY picky about details.  We were both impressed with the process and decided this was the best option for us since we had no interest in ripping out our cabinets and risk damaging our existing granite.  Mary Jo helped us to decide what we wanted to change about our existing lay out and helped us to choose our cabinet style and color (parchment).  We were not expecting to be able to get the project started until June, which was okay because we had a big graduation party planned for May.  To our surprise we got a call from the office saying they could start May 6 and that the project was expected to take a little over a week.  Even though our party was late May, we decided to go ahead with the project.  In early April, Jason came out to take measurements and gave me some advise on the direction of door swings and other details.  On May 6 our carpenter Brandon arrived at around 10am and immediately started working.  The first few days Brandon was only there for about 4-5 hours, and to be honest I was a little nervous about the project getting done.  He worked the entire time he was there and was neat and polite.  He was also meticulous and very detailed and when he left at night there was no mess. Actually there was practically no mess at all during the entire project, he cut pieces in our garage and that is the only dust he created.  By Friday things were looking pretty good and I assumed I would see Brandon on Monday morning, but before he left he asked if he could work Saturday and Sunday(Mothers Day).  Well I could think of no better Mothers Day gift than my kitchen being completed-and it was, by Sunday evening Brandon was finished!  The next week I requested that one of the doors be restricted so it couldn't bump into our corner cabinet and Jason arrived the nest morning with a fix!  We are so happy with the way our kitchen looks as well as the quality of the materials and craftsmanship.   Our experience with American Wood Reface was positive from beginning to end and I would use them again in a minute!  Our party was this past Sunday and everyone loved the kitchen, they truly did not believe we did not get completely new cabinets.  Great experience, awesome kitchen!

    Greg Johnson Small Job Specialist
Great! Greg was on time starting the job and, considerIng the unexpected magnitude of the repairs, completed the work in a timely manner. Greg discussed each step of the project before starting and updated me daily. Greg's cost estimates were accurate and the price was very reasonable. Greg pays great attention to detail and quality. I plan to have him back next Spring for some additional projects.

    Hansen Restoration Inc
Jim Hansen arrived at our house within 48 hours of placing a call to request a quote, and we then got the quote a day or two later- very impressive! We were thrilled with the punctuality, and figured this was an indicator that the project would go quickly. Not so. Since we decided not to do everything Jim quoted us, we were assigned another project manager. From start to finish, it took 5 months to have two windows installed, a room painted, the attic port hole cut in, and a small section of molding on the outside of the house replaced. We were told that the reason our project was moving so slowly is that their restoration customers take priority since many of them have been forced out of their homes due to a fire or flooding. I completely understand, but if Hansen doesn’t have enough staff and/or subcontractors to handle both restoration AND remodeling work, then they should choose to only focus on one (restoration or remodeling). The quality of the work was good, but the poor communication with the project manager, and the painfully slow speed at which the work was done are the two reasons we won’t hire Hansen for our next project: tearing down the wall, vaulting the ceiling, painting, and installing new flooring throughout the first floor. Also, they had to re-route our furnace exhaust as part of the project, and when the windows were installed, the furnace exhaust wasn’t up to code. The exhaust was within a few inches of the new windows when it needs to be at least 3 feet (I think…regardless, the exhaust was way too close, and not up to code). I pointed out this code violation to them, and they wanted to charge me between $300-$400 to fix, and bring up to code. I refused to pay since this should have been accounted for in the initial quote. Eventually, they agreed to fix it which I was happy about.

    Imperial Remodeling
I first paid him in December. He needed $3000 for materials. A couple days later he needed more, $1600 more for materials, but he still didn?t have materials. He started the work about a week later. He brought up some of the half logs. He worked for about 10 days. He then said he needed $900 more. He took off for about 10 days. Then he started more work on the siding. Again, he asked for more money and I paid him again. He had a series of excuses. He even wanted money to spend on his daughter because he had her for the weekend.  He got kind of nasty after I said no to this request. He did about half the work, and he would skip out on materials. He kept saying he had no money. Once, I paid him the full amount he took off. It was all about him. He wasn't concerned with finishing the house.
