    Built By B
In a 100+ old house you never know what is going to happen- asbestos is what. Built by B handled the scheduling of its removal by a qualified third party. It was a long process to deconstruct completely and reconstruct new bath rooms (with one delay from asbestos). They were always working and making progress, I trusted them completely in my house and they were so kind and nice and acted unbothered by the dogs and cats. I am so pleased with how they turned out. Built by B gave me some "decorating" advice after seeing my home and aesthetic and talking with me that was spot on. He has a good eye for design and does quality work- a good combination to have in a contractor.

Jeff was excellent to work with and did a beautiful job remodeling our kitchen. My husband and I are in love with the work he did and have already been recommending him to all our friends. Jeff was extremely accommodating, constantly checking in and giving us updates on the status of the job. Jeff was also very transparent about the cost of the work and gave us the best estimate out of 4 other contractors. He removed all the existing cabinetry and soffits, all flooring, demolished a pantry closet, and carefully removed the original trim. His team then rebuilt the previous pantry as a space for the refrigerator and completely reconfigured the layout of the kitchen. We are confident the quality of his work will hold up. We also enjoyed working with his team at WS Stephens Cabinetry - Mark is amazing to work with. Overall, we had an excellent experience and are very pleased with our new kitchen!

When we hired walpainters to remodel our only full bathroom, we were told by Shawn the project would take 7 business days maximum. Because it is our only full bathroom, our family made arrangements to stay with my parents during this renovation. The renovation ended up taking three weeks to complete - 15 business days, over twice the length of time that was promised to us. This was a large inconvenience to our family. During these 15 days, there were multiple days that absolutely no progress was made on the project - days in which Shawn did not even show up. We provided the required deposit for materials (thousands of dollars) over a week before the project started, and yet weeks into the remodel it became clear that some materials had not even been ordered yet. There were "problems with the light fixtures" about two weeks into the remodel, causing us to make a rush decision about an alternative fixture. Shawn also claimed to have to drive hours to get the requested tile for our shower (a simple white subway tile) and stated that as a reason for part of the delay. On day 13 of the renovation Shawn told us his wife was looking for the shelves that we had requested and picked out (and paid for) nearly a month earlier. Overall, the quality of the work is OK. Some of our tile that We kept in the bathroom was damaged by the renovation, but the bathroom looks nice. An incredibly frustrating process for our family though, and in hindsight I would pay significantly more for a contractor who is better organized (wallainters neglected to even acknowledge an email I sent on day 12 of the renovation to inquire when the project would be finished and to make sure no other supplies needed to be ordered causing a delay) and more professional.

    Even Flow Remodeling and Repair
The result was as we required and expected. Even Flow stripped then painted the walls, updated the sink outlet (installed an additional outlet too), installed a new disposal, installed new granite counter top and island top and microwave shelf, installed a lighted exhaust fan above the stove top, laid down a new ceramic tile floor, covered the old and cracked ceramic wall tile wit Wainscot, painted the ceiling, rotated our oven 90 degrees and ran a new gas line. All this was done while keeping the mess to a minimum, and while also ensuring we had use of the kitchen at day's end, every day. Even Flow worked with material contractors to help ensure we had quality products to choose from. I must mention the extra mile Even Flow went to in making sure our electrical issues were properly addressed. Ours is an older home, and it needed the extra care Even Flow provided, including correcting installation work by a prior contractor. Even Flow did our bathroom prior to doing our kitchen. I can see the same quality workmanship in both jobs. A big thing is the end-of-day clean up of the work site. We were very glad and appreciative for it. Another big thing is the on-time start of each work day. The job was professionally thought out, and qualitatively rendered. It also was personable and competitively priced. Communication was excellent. I highly recommend Even Flow Remodeling, and I intend to contact it again for another job we are considering having done; our basement.

    Even Flow Remodeling and Repair
As usual James and his dad were great. They did their best to rearrange jobs to start on mine right away since I had waste water running down my walls. He did the job that he was hired to do and then worked with me when we wanted to alter the scope partway through to add a washer/dryer closet upstairs. I'm comfortable with him in my home around my dog and kids and trust his judgement.

    McCane Construction
My house is over 100 years old and is difficult to work with. Every project creates unexpected challenges. McCane Construction performed miracles. My original shower insert would not work with my fun house-style unleveled walls, so they found a new insert and made it work. The floor could not be made level without creating a huge, uneven step into the rest of the house, so they worked to make it blend and tiled the baseboards to guard against any pooling of water. I have distinct woodwork in the house, and they made sure the doorway they created matched the existing, 100 year old woodwork. Replastering the 100 year old concrete was also difficult, but the end result looks smooth and perfect.  McCane Construction made sure to communicate every challenge, explain the various options, and assisted me in choosing options that would keep cost down without sacrificing the aesthetic aspect. The final cost was slightly more than the original estimate, but far less than I realistically anticipated.

    Calloway Cleaning & Restoration
Calloway handled a complete kitchen renovation for us as well as a three season room remodel.  They were recommended by a neighbor who was thrilled with the work Calloway did on their basement remodel after flooding.  We were thrilled with their excellent craftsmanship, the integrity of their word and the delivery of a quality job.  In addition to this, they stayed within budget and were professional and easy to work with.  We would use them again and recommend them highly.  Thank you Calloway!!!!

    Holtmeier Plumbing Co Inc
Called to make an appointment and was told earliest was an 8AM appointment and to expect a phone call at 730AM.
Call came at 752AM right when I had left for work already assuming they were a no-call no show. I didn't budget that much time out of my day for an estimate so I seized the opportunity to make it in to work on time. I couldn't answer since I was driving. Second call came at 801 and I answered.
I apologized to Mr. Holtmeier and explained that I was expecting a call at 7:30AM (as was told to me by receptionist), was on my way to work, and he retorted, "I called you 12 minutes ago."
I reiterated what was explained to me, explicitly that I was told someone would call at 7:30AM. His reply, "The calls come between 7:30 and 8."
I'm not here to argue with you and would have gladly turned around if the phone call was at least moderately pleasant. I'll take my business elsewhere. But at least it wasn't a no-call/no-show.

    Jospeh J. Zinner Remodeling
A friend of mine said she had given him a really good estimate on her bathroom but she never used him because she didn't have the money. When we met with him he seemed very fair, he also had an A rating which I don't understand and he gave me some references that we checked with. It sounded like a good deal because a bathroom remodel is expensive. The first thing he did was to tell us that he could get it done in two weeks but it ended up taking two months. The first day he was supposed to come, he didn't show up but came days later. He wouldn't show up on certain days or only work half day and I would never understand why he would leave when he would. Him and I would have words from time to time, this was not a good working relationship. He was actually good at what he did because he would go above and beyond in some things like all the woodwork's that he took up. In the end there were a few things that went terribly wrong and he did try to rectify them as best as he could. We wanted the radiator moved from where it was and it wasn't his area because it showed. He did some things to the radiator that ended up becoming a disaster. It started leaking water everywhere and he couldn't fix it. In the end the whole thing had to be redone, the pipes he had enclosed in the wall had to be moved and a different company had to work on that. The good thing is that he paid for all the work. Because things got torn up by the plumbing and heating company, he had to come back and repair some of the tiles and the walls but he didn't do it the way we wanted him to do it. There are some things that he could have done better like the drains clog terribly and the shower head kind of wobbles and so do the faucets. These are things a good professional wouldn't have missed. I had him replace the ceiling in the family room because of water damage and he knocked down the ceiling and painted it so fast and so efficiently that I didn't understand what was wrong with the bathroom.

    Canoe Construction
Mike and Tom were a class act from day one. They were recommended to me by my parents after they saved a huge addition job on their home the original contractor had botched. I made contact with Mike during the week and we set up a free estimate for that Sunday. Both Mike and Tom were present for the estimate and gave me plenty of input as to the approximate length, cost and step by step procedures of the job. They took into consideration that this was my only bathroom and let me know if I hired them they would not work any other project until mine was complete. I decided to bring them in and they got started 8 days later! You can't beat that. When they arrived to get started they spent the morning prepping the house as to not track their dirt all around my house, of this I was very appreciative. After demo on day 1 they realized the bathroom had been a DIY project for the previous owner and posed a few hurdles for them. Because Mike and Tom do things the right way, it extended the project from 7 to 9 days, which was no problem. They were trustworthy to the point I left them the garage opener and let them come and go as needed. When I stopped in during my lunch break, they were more than happy to point out what they were doing and what they planned to do. They always considered my needs when working such as smoothing out areas of the bathroom that had been poorly mudded by the previous owner. These were the types of things they did throughout the project without even asking because as they like to say, the work they do is as if they are working on their own homes. The final project certainly represented that motto and I could not be happier with the end result. Upon departing they let me know that they stand by their work and would happily come back to fix anything I may not be satisfied with. Highly recommended!
