Came out in August to fix our wall oven. "Dan" the Owner said it was the "board" that needed replaced and it would be costly. Said he would call us in a couple of days with a quote. He never did, so we called him again and he said "someone was supposed to call you with the price". Said he would look into it and get back to me. Well, he never did, so we called him again and this time he tells me he is going to "pass" on the repair job. His reason: The whole unit needs to be removed from the cabinet and since he works by himself he is unable to handle it alone. BTW we already paid him for the diagnosis and it is supposed to go towards the repair. So I have to wonder if that sad excuse is true, and since he knew it was a double wall oven, make and model all up front, why didn't he "pass" even before he came out? Instead he jerked us around with the promise of a quote for a week. I will say he did mail us our check back. But I also must say he got the diagnosis wrong. We ended up having the the oven fixed by Mr Appliance and it wasn't the super expensive board.

    Sears Appliance Repair
Not so well. The tech lost track of the repairs needed on the dryer because his diagnosis system was on a separate application on his tablet. He really needed the ability to either print our or email the necessary repairs. The washer and dryers were 3 1/2 years old and just out of warranty. (extended). I didn't leave with any confidence that the repairs recommended by the repair tech would indeed fix the problem. Additionally, it was suggested that certain "control boards" were about to go bad. No other real description other than that. Aggressive follow up with Whirlpool provided very few insights. So I bought new LG Washer and Dryer from BestBuy, bought the 5 year extended warranty and haven't looked back. I won't be buying appliances from Sears or anything from Whirlpool ever again.

.I called to to set up an appointment to fix my 13 year old junkie fridge.I told the secretary my concern over how much the repair would cost vs buying a new cheap fridge. She was understanding of my concern and told me how they price their labor out and gave me a starting point of the price for the repair. I thanked her for her time and informed her that I feel my dollar would be better spent buying that new cheap junkie fridge.

Tom showed up on time the first day and tested the freezer. The problem was either the fan motor, control board or compressor. So he tried replacing the fan first (the cheapest fix) which turned out to be fine. The he replaced the control board (second cheapest fix) and the problem was fixed. He had to come back 3 days later to replace a small part he had to order. Now the freezer works great.

We called on June 3 to set up an appointment. The soonest they could send a serviceman out was June 7.  We were told to call at 8:30 in the morning on June 7 to find out the approx. time of the serviceman's arrival.  I called at 8:40 on June 7 and left a message when I got an answering machine.  I waited until 9:30 and called again. This time someone answered.  No apology for not calling back and not especially polite. (In fact everytime we called this business no one there was very polite) The woman I talked to told me when the serviceman  was due.  We lost our electric power that day so we had to cancel.  Obviously this was not the repair companys fault.  They then set a new date of June 10 for serivce.  Again we had to call to find out the servcieman's arrival time.  When the serviceman arrived he set right to work.  After removing the bottom panel on the washer, he slid it  across the concrete floor with no concern for the finish.  This was also something he did on the next visit.  (For the third visit I removed the panel myself before he arrived.)  He concluded the probelm was the idler pulley.  After he removed the pulley I asked him why the outside edges of the plastic pulley were chipped off.  He told me why don't you ask it.  (meaning the pulley).  We still don't know why the pulley looked like it did and since we weren't told, I guess he didn't know either.
They had to order the part so the same man came back on June 13.  After installing the new part the washer seemed ok but before he could get back into his truck it started making the same noise.  That new part was bad and another new part would have to be ordered.  He came back on June 25 with a new idler pulley and idler arm.  The idler arm either didn't fit or was the wrong one because he only installed the new pulley.  The washer seemed to work ok.  All told 3 trips and 2 weeks.  And the washer still makes the same noise only very intermittantly.
We know people are under a lot of stress and time constrants, but being a little more friendly and a having a willingness to explain things can go a long way to building a good customer relationship.

There was a feed line which brought water into the refrigerator for the icemaker which had broken. The work turned out great. He was able to splice in a new section of line and it was repaired and it works great now. He showed up the same day and fixed it. The price was expensive. I would use them again in the future.

He was excellent and worked really fast. He knew what he was doing. He explained what he was doing and did a really good job. The price was what we expected. We didnt have to buy a new refrigerator and we were pleased about that.

    Scott's Appliance Service, Inc.
I had the dishwasher door opened and bumped it and water and steam is ruining the countertop. It took us forever to get a call back and required 3 or 4 calls to get a call to talk to someone. Jim did not pull out the dishwasher to fix the gasket. The dishwasher door did not close. Talked to owner and he came out and worked on it but it is still leaking above the dishwasher and still ruining my countertops. I originally asked whether it was worth fixing or just to get a new dishwasher. The last time I spoke with Jim, I asked whether or not I would get charged for the gasket since that was the wrong thing to do and he will not return my call. I think all my money should be refunded because of the time I missed from work and because of the fact that his supervisor said he did the wrong thing. They did not charge me for the second service call. I would expect at least a refund because they are on Angie's List.

Excellent service, done under AHS warranty coverage for a standard $50 fee. They were prompt, kept scheduled appointments, and did good work. Repairmen were cheerful and very willing to answer questions. This was our second experience with Whims, and we have been completely satisfied with them.
