    KNK Construction, LLC
We utilized KNK Construction to build a poured retaining wall to match our current barn foundation. Nate Brown, the owner, had come out several times and quoted several other jobs for us that we had awarded to him. In our estimate Nate had quoted a 12 wall. He had some trouble obtaining the proper forms, and when he was able to do so we gave him the go ahead. Without further discussion, he changed it to an 8 wall with pillars. By the time I had noticed this it was too late to change it, the wall was formed, the trucks were there, it was late, and the crew was rushing to get everything done. As they started to pour the wall I ask Nate if they were going to vibrate the concrete. He told me no they would utilize rebar and move it back-and-forth and it would be just fine. I am pretty sure they also did not use any form lubricant. At this point I was extremely nervous as I have been involved in a lot of concrete work and had never seen it done the way it was done by Nate Brown and KNK. We had not given KNK any certain timeline on this job. He created his own deadline, got into a rush, and I am the one that paid for it. I had requested Nate to send me pictures when it was done because I was out of town. Oddly Nate never sent anything. The next day my wife went out, and It became very apparent why no photos were sent. The wall had huge unfilled seams through it, as nothing was vibrated or blended, and the wall has honeycombs in it and looks horrible. On top of this they tried to patch it with mortar, and the mortar has already cracked. Not only this but they did not account for the floor and set the doorway on the foundation, so it is a foot low. They were supposed to put a window in but did not. Lastly, the walls are not straight, and the end caps are uneven. Plain and simply everything that could have been done wrong on this wall was. I drove straight to the job site to see the wall and I was met there by Nate. He told me he agreed it looked horrible and that he would patch it together and it could take several coats to do that. I told him please do not waste your time the wall is plain and simply wrong it does not match the wall next to it we need to tear it out and start over. Nate sent me a text saying he did not want to tear the wall out, but he would send his guys out to get their stuff and refund my money. Shortly after his guys left, I sent him over several pictures since we were looking at it in the dark originally. The reply I got from him was that I can send as many pictures as I want, he is not coming back, and he is not going to refund my money. Nate has now collected $5,000 of my deposit, and I have a wall that is going to cost several thousand dollars to remove just to be left to start with nothing. I requested KNKs insurance information and was forwarded to his attorney. I sent them detailed photographs along with a request for insurance information and or a refund. Neither Nate Brown nor his attorney has responded at this time. Plain and simple, he did the worst job I have ever seen, be very cautious if you decide to use this company, and make sure you get KNKs insurance information upfront and do not pay until the job is done or you may end up in the same situation I am currently in.

    The Basement Doctor
Great! We got an appraiser first and his estimate to repair was so much less than we feared. This was also our first poured concrete basement; the other two were cinder blocks and the leaks were worse. We accepted this first quote, because they had already come highly recommended by Angie's List and we were eager to get this repair done. We were able to schedule the repair within a week, the contractor/installer arrived exactly as scheduled, and the work was done within one day. Quite pleased!

First Impressions Concrete and Design LLC
had a patio installed by decorative curb & concrete (Anthony Hreblek) in 2013.  The concrete was cracking and the stained colors were pealing off and fading.   The provider would not stand behind his product.

Chris came out and gave us a thorough  examination of our patio and explained what he could do preserve our deteriorating patio.  Chris cut expansion joints, which were not in our patio, and ground down all the rough edges left by the previous stamped design. He then power washed and reapplied the stains.  He then sealed the patio.  Our patio was looked brand new when the job was finished.  Very satisfied and happy with the results.  Definitely recommend First Impression.  We found Chris to be very conscientious and professional.

    DECORATIVE CURB & CONCRETE
The only time that Anthony responsed on time was to receive his cash requested payment. The work was done in June of 2013. Over the winter the stains started to come off. After numerous calls, Anthony did come to to look at the stain job. Stated that he had a bad batch of stain, and that he would have to do some research to fix the problem. Never saw Anthony, but did return a call in the fall, and stated that he did not know what to do. Anthony did come out to the house in early spring of 2015, and said that would fix the areas before fall. Fall came and went. Last month, we noticed a crack running the entire width of the patio. Immediately called and have left two voice mails. No response from Anthony.

    Mark Rodgers Construction
The job was complicated because the existing apron was poured over another apron which increased  the time allotted for removal and required the use of a jackhammer, which he had to drive back to his company to get (2 hours travel time, back and forth).  By the time Mark and his assistant removed the old apron (which they hauled away) and built the form, it was too late to pour the concrete, so we had to delay a day.  It rained the entire next day, so the concrete wasn't poured until the following day.
What started out as a 4-5 hour job, became at least double that, plus the additional trips.  Though none of these problems were in any way caused by Mark, he completed the work without complaint and never asked for additional money from his original quote.  Mark is a perfectionist and treated me as if I were his best friend.  The work he did was much better than I anticipated.
I would not hesitate to recommend Mark Rodgers and would never think about hiring any one else for this type of project.  He is the best!!!!

This gentleman is as awesome as he is made out to be in the previous Angie's List reviews that led us to call him!  His office responded immediately to our initial email and kept in contact until the point later in the week when Mark himself could come out to our home.   Despite the fact that he would not profit, he advised us against replacing the steps and porch and instead gave us very specific recommendations for how they could be rehabbed.  He took the time to explain his reasoning and gave us direct contact info for several vendors who could do ironwork to repair the existing railings. He gave us written notes with suggestions for sealing products and where to obtain them.  We would definitely hire him in the future!

    SAMSON CONCRETE LLC
They performed a good service and I like the way they did the work, it looks good! They sloped the work down well since it was higher than my neighbors before they started. It looks wonderful! They made it so the water does not run down my yard to the sidewalk anymore, no water will lay on the sidewalk anymore either.

    LINN CONCRETE
Everything went fine on all pours except for the concrete sealer turned black and started cracking. Chris Linn and his crew said that it would turn clear in a few days. Well, after 8 months the sealer is still black and cracking. During the winter the concrete on the patio has developed chipping and the retaining wall is cracking and chipping. I have been calling Chris Linn since March of 2012 to make the repairs. I finally made contact with Chris Linn and he said that he would make the repairs, but he would not give me a date.  I continued to try to contact Chris for a date and he would not return my calls. Then out of the blue one person did show up one morning and filled the large cracks with caulk. I have tried to contact Chris Linn about this shotty repair and when he is going to repair the sealer and chipping problem. As of June 11, 2012 Chis Linn has not yet returned my calls.

    DECORATIVE CURB & CONCRETE
It took Anthony a couple of weeks to get to the job. He would say he was coming out but would then blame the rain on why he wasn't there, even though it did not rain that day, just over cast. When they finally completed the job, it was beautiful. I was so impressed. It looked just as I had wanted it to look EXCEPT for one BIG problem. They put a huge 10" x 12" advertisement for his company in the corner of the patio. I could not believe they would ruin such a beautiful job this way. He tried to point out that on the contract the fine print states that they would do this. This infuriated me even more that he would build an escape clause into the contract. Luckily for me, I did not see or sign a contract prior to him starting the work. He agreed to mix up some concrete and fill in the advertisement (after a lengthy argument). It looks pretty crappy where he filled it in, but much better than the advertisement. He also said he would be out in a few days to seal the concrete. Six months after the job was complete, the concrete had completely faded to almost a white color. Anthony said that was because it had not been sealed and that it would be an additional $200 to seal it. I feel ripped off, but I paid him the $200 because I wanted it to look right. I will be needing more concrete work in the future, but I cannot bring myself to use these guys again. They do beautiful work, but you have to keep on them at every step of the way to do it right and make sure you cross out the part of the contract that says they can put an advertisement in your concrete.
