    Affordable Basement Solutions
I had Tony Reed of Affordable Basements and his experienced crew restore crawlspaces on two homes I own. Theses were extensive upgrades that included perimeter drain tile, sump liner and pumps, and 10 mil visqueen on ground. I had a water problem that caused a 4 block wall to lean in and need to be repaired. Also the egress window had to be enlarged for a more comfortable and functional entrance. Tony installed exterior drains to channel the water away form the house and French drains to keep the front yard dry. All water drained to the 24 inch street tile 170 feet from the house. The second home had additional problems related to a clogged drain tile to the street that needed to be replaced. The insulation in the crawlspace was damp so Tony removed all the insulation and encapsulated the crawlspace with insulation on the crawlspace walls. Tony also replaced a waterline from the well and installed a pressure tank in the crawlspace. All the work completed was at a very reduced cost from other bids obtained. All of the drainage systems work extremely well and I will have Tony return to encapsule the first house to reduce the humidity in my Crawlspace.

    Safe Basements of Ohio
The work was done in Oct. 2017. Sent note to owner, Neil, said "It appears that the underground drain that your company installed in October, 2017 is failing to direct the water flow fully to the street. The downspout drain cover blew off the drain as the water erupted from the downspout and flooded the yard and caused the basement walls to be wet. notified owner in early Dec. that walls were still wet, He came out and said that it was due to heavy rain, In April 2018 sent note, "I called your office on 4-13-18 and spoke with Melissa regarding gushing waters coming out of my downspouts and flooding my yard and causing my basement walls to be wet." In closing, my walls still get wet -- though not as bad, perhaps because we have not had as serious a rain. Now it seems they have gone out of business. Would love to have them fix the drain tiles so the wet wall issue is corrected. I delayed giving a rating because I was hoping that they would fix the problem. It has not been two years and I have been plagued with the same problem I hired them for.

    Rogers Basement Waterproofing
Last week, I had Stay Dry come out because I had water draining into my basement. A man came out and told me I needed to replace my drainage pipelines outside for almost $3000.00. My son was here and told me to get a second opinion. That's when I called Rogers Basement. I spoke with a gentleman named Paul who asked me how they knew my pipelines were the problem. I told them Stay Dry just said they were. He told me there is no way without using a camera or something to look below to see if that was the problem. He recommended Drain Busters. He said they were honest and professional. Drain Busters came out and used the camera and found my pipelines to have nothing wrong with them. He said there were some leaves possible blocking the flow and removed them. He tightened two of my downspouts to make sure they were working correctly. He said your pipelines are fine and do not need replaced. I called Paul to thank him for being so honest and guiding me to another honest company to help me. I am so grateful I called Rogers Basement and talked to Paul. It was nice working with him. If I ever need basement work, I will definitely be calling Rogers Basement and hopefully get to talk to Paul!

    Affordable Basement Solutions
Excellent-- Tony Reed and his crew are very skilled and repaired my water problem and crawl space wall to near perfection. I am so lucky to have found affordable basement solutions. I contacted two other angie's list super service award providers and wonder how these companies can exist. Their quotes for the same work were extreme and I would never trust either of these companies. I would never hesitate to call Tony Reed for any additional work due to the skilled and honest work he provided.

    Affordable Basement Solutions
I have a five- block crawlspace ranch home that had a wall leaning in due to water and soil pressure. I contacted the two most advertised Angie list companies that repair problems of this nature. The first company did an inspection and presented a bid for repair. I requested more of an estimate to redo other limitations in my crawlspace. If contracted this price would be over twenty thousand dollars with an additional bid to complete an external drain to control the external water problem. Of course, this bid was ridiculous, and I would never pay this amount for the remediation of the stated problem. The second company representative did not inspect the crawlspace and informed me he would increase the size of the access opening for a greater price than the bid received from the first company for that portion of the work. After this was completed he would provide a bid. Both companies wanted 30% down before any work would be completed for a two-day job. The third bid I obtained was from the Affordable Basement Company. Tony Reed presented a very reasonable bid and was extremely knowledgeable about the presented problem. He and his capable crew fixed this problem and the additional work that I required at a fraction of the cost the two other companies bid. I also paid Mr. Reed after the job was completed. I feel that Mr. Reed is honest, hardworking and will provide quality services at a very reasonable price. This is not the same opinion I have of the other two highly advertised companies on Angies list. In full disclosure, I have no vested interest in the Affordable Basement Company, but I am very appreciative of the job completed by Mr. Reed and his support staff. I feel if a consumer needs foundation work completed they would be shortsighted if they did not get an estimate from Mr. Reed.

    Hydra Basement Waterproofing
Excellent! This is the second time I have used Hydra for separate issues and each time they have been the definition of professionalism and promptness. After some heavy rains last month we were left with standing water in our finished basement. Turns out our existing sump pump just wasn't doing the job. After talking with Pat, we had Noe come out to tell us what he would recommend in terms of equipment and labor, then within a week his guys came out and finished the job. I feel very confident with our new sump pump system and my wife and I are excited to use our basement again now that football season is about to start. We have Noe, Pat and his crew to thank. Here is the icing on the cake though, after they finished the job I had them check our downspouts to make sure they were draining properly. Having been in the house about 2 years we have had the gutters cleaned and even had part of our underground down spouts snaked. We were left with a mystery though as to where half the houses down spouts exited our property. Noe and his guys spent at least an extra hour in 90 degree weather digging and determining where to uncover the pipes. When they finally found the termination we all realized that they still needed to connect to the curb, they were 15 foot short! My house is 6 years old and the builder never connected our spouts to the road! Now we have an easy fix to solve the problem and a beefed up sump pump to boot. If it wasn't for these guys going the extra mile it would be all but guaranteed that they would be back out again some time. Peace of mind is well worth the cost.

    Professional Gutter & Drain
Dealing with this company was a disaster from start to finish. I am not sure I can state anything that went right. I deeply regret hiring them for anything. The saga started with the initial call I made to request service for the drain lines- inspection and likely attempt at snaking. I should have taken it as a red flag when they made sure to insist that they ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE for any damage that they cause. I explained that I am not interested in trading broken drain lines for other damage and if they can't be cautious then they shouldn't accept the work. He assured me they were cautious. I went along. So I took time off work so that I could be present during the service call. Only the first appointment was not a service call. The guy came out to tell me I needed a service call. Golly- thanks for the expert opinion. I guess my phone call to them requesting a service call was not enough of a clue. Well that was my first wasted day. So I waited a couple weeks for the actual service call. Camera inspection and snaking. No luck- it didn't work. As they were unprepared to do any other work, they would need to come out a third time. They would call the day before to notify me. Only no one called. When I called them after a month to see what was going on, no one could find my work order. So they were going to search and call me back. After 2 more weeks of waiting for a call, again no one called. So I called again. Again, they couldn't find my work order. After, searching for it, they scheduled the visit. On this visit, they repaired one line but didn't have enough pipe to do the second. So we needed a 4th visit. On the 4th visit, it rained- just like the forecast predicted. I guess they don't work when it rains. So we scheduled a 5th visit. As I was leaving the country for 3 weeks, I insisted that no work is done in my absence. I gave them the date I would be home. Again, they missed that day. So they came out on a day I was not home. No worries. We had discussed the work and the plan. I had marked out my irrigation lines with flags so they would be alert and I spoke to them on the phone in the morning to again to review the plan and alert them to the underground irrigation lines. Well I guess they ran into unexpected obstacles and had a difficult time running the new line. Rather than take 30 seconds to call me and discuss the issue, they took it upon themselves to tear up my brick walkway in order to pass the pipe. This was not part of the plan. I never consented to this. In the process, they had to take a different route and damaged the sprinkler that was attached to the line marked by the blue flags. At the end of the day, when he reported the issues to me, I guess it was MY fault that I didn't make it perfectly clear to him that here was a sprinkler head attached to the sprinkler line that was marked by the big blue flags a couple feet away. It appears that these plumbers aren't aware that sprinkler heads are attached to sprinkler lines. Nonetheless, they ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE for any damage that they cause. Did I mention that already? Anyway, as he put it, it was my fault this damaged had occurred. And he denied that there was any need to call me during the day to discuss the change in plans and the change in routing or discuss anything that might have averted the damage. He referred me to the supervisor to discuss further. So I was the one to call them-of course- and I was again reminded that they ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE for any damage that they cause. I explained to the supervisor that a 30 second phone call could have changed the final outcome of the day, but again it was denied. Why bother communicating issue with the customer. Besides, they ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE for damage that they cause so there really is nothing for them to gain by calling me. He said he could not help me and gave me the owner's number. So I called several times to try to discuss. Only there was no answer. There was never an answer. AND the voice mail box was not set up. Not sure what kind of business does not have a voice mail box. Anyway, I just gave up. Ultimately, I did not want them back at my property doing anything more anyway. Never mind the downspout lines that were loose and disconnected. They never fixed them. I will hire someone else or do it myself. I hired these guys based on the rating here, but there is not part of their service that has lived up to it. The initial appointment was a waste of time. The scheduling process was a total failure on multiple occasions. The work was sloppy. They had poor communication. They did not listen when they were alerted to potential issues. They didn't complete all the requested work. Even the invoice was wrong as they did not apply the full Angie's list coupon. No problem. I paid it. Who would I call anyway? It was hard enough for me to get a call back the first several times. And from a customer service view, "I can't help you" and giving me a number to an owner that won't answer and has no voice mail?? Really? Never again. I would rather do the work myself than see these guys back.

    SOS Construction & Drainage, LLC
My basement was flooded because water was gushing down the side of the foundation from the downspouts. The sump pump was overwhelmed and the basement with my furniture and carpet were soaked. I called a drain cleaning and repair company to clean out the drains. After the cleaning he told me the drainage system was not able to handle our size house and recommended I call a drainage replacement company. I received three quotes from Angie's list companies. Each was within a few hundred dollars of each other. I chose S.O.S. Construction and Drainage because of their professional approach. The owner of the company also put a temporary pipe on top the ground to drain the water a few feet away from the foundation since it was raining that week while I interviewed different contractors. I chose S.O.S. The owner and a small crew came to the house early in the morning worked very hard all day, replaced the drainage pipes with 4" pipes, rerouted the drainage pipes, replaced the sod, drilled holes in the curbs and cleaned up any mess by the end of the day. Two of my neighbors were so impressed they contracted with them to do their drainage systems. Pleasure doing business with this company and the owner Stephen Schmitz

    The Waterworks
To start with, Waterworks was the only plumber I called (out of about 10) who could even come out to look at the problem in less than a week. When you do not have any running water in the house, that's a big deal. WW had the whole thing done within three days (and the work itself only took one day). The cost was more than double what I was hoping, but you're sort of over a barrel when you have no water service and no one else can even come to look at it. The hydroexcavation, besides not hitting the gas line, had the extra benefit of minimizing damage to the yard. The hole they made was only 18" square, and went straight down beside the wall of the house to the water line. They did not tear up the grass or disturb anything in the basement. Five months later we have had no problems with their work.

    The Eco Plumbers & Drains
In less than a week after the inspection they came back our and did the whole job. It was far more work than we had anticipated when we called for the inspection but they did good work and were very prompt and professional.
