Hospital Care reviews in Montgomery

The hospital and staff were great. I did an unmedicated VBAC and all of the staff were very respectful of my wishes, even posting my birth plan on the wall and reviewing it with every staff change. All of my nurses were great and very caring.
The billing, however, is another story. They charge for a "nursery stay" for every baby, even when your baby doesn't leave your room. When I called to discuss my bill, I was told that every baby is charged this since they have to reserve a spot for them. This is ridiculous, since I had a full-term, healthy, unmedicated baby.

The care was very good. They both had heart issues and I didn't think the outgoing advice from the dietician was very good. One of the dieticians that spoke to my mother was extremely overweight and that didn't sit well with me. She was telling my mom that she needed to eat well to be good to her heart. To me that was so inconsistent. I would give a B to communication because of the information from the dieticians. I even spoke to one of the dieticians afterwards. There were two different dieticians and I didn't think the quality of the information they were giving out was good; I was unimpressed. I don't know about the bills because they all went to my parents' home.

They were excellent, efficient and professional. They do things in a timely manner. Once I had to go there at 3 in the morning to get a particular sample drawn. They were friendly and awake at that time. It was a good experience. I have also had some x-rays taken there. They were prompt too.

The hospital is clean and convenient. I am on Coumadin and do the blood test periodically. I have been doing the test for a number of years. I use the hospital because it is right in front of my cardiologist's office. He recommends the hospital but doesn't insist. I can go anywhere for the test, but I find the location most convenient.

I was very nervous about my surgery. The staff at the hospital, including the recovery room nurses and the nurses on the floor were great during my stay at the hospital. They helped me cope with the anxiety I was feeling and even helped by listening as I cried after the surgery. They convinced me to to take the pain medication which helped in my recovery. They made me feel comfotable and confident in the care I was receiving.

From admitting to discharge and everything in between, Bethesda North was an excellent place for the birth of my son. Admitting was streamlined for the laboring mom, the transfers to and from floors was well supervised - even the food was at least tolerable. Very friendly staff in this hospital - the most exceptional labor and delivery nurse (Bridget) I have come across in 3 births!

It is convenient and I have no problems with the doctor. The staff that works there are very friendly, helpful and they listen to me. If I am feeling uncomfortable they don't force me into taking medication. The clinic itself is clean and well kept.

I was on life support for 12 days, so I didn't know what was going on. As soon as they could get me out of bed they made me go home, and we set up a hospital station here because of all the infections. Someone came to my house every other day for the first week, and after that someone came in 2 or 3 times a week to make me exercise. Once I started waking up I did have some hallucinations. They had me strapped in the bed, and I don't really remember anyone attending to me.

My husband and I were very pleased with our experience at B North. Because of a long labor, we spent about 19 hours on the labor and delivery floor. We had three different nurses, all of whom were excellent. The L&D nurse who was with us 7am-7pm even stayed after her shift so that she could see our son enter the world. The delivery room was very spacious, which allowed me and my husband to walk around a lot during the labor. After the delivery, we transferred to the postpartum recovery floor, and again the newborn nurses provided excellent care to me and my son. Our son roomed in with us (my husband stayed overnight with me), and we were able to accompany him to the nursery when he needed tests or treatments. The pediatrician affiliated with the hospital was also knowledgeable and friendly. Overall, I felt like the hospital staff provided us with lots of information, were respectful of our decisions, and took very good care of us during this very important time for our family.

One of my concerns there is the confidentiality of patient information. I feel that when inquiring about the diagnosis, that connects to the medication that you are taking, this conversation should be more discrete, than with your family standing around. The take home paperwork that I received included medication information for medication that I was not taking and there were no specific instructions about care of the womb for day two. I ended up calling them the next day to say could I keep the bandage on, off, etc. In my mind, it was very incomplete.
