    It went great. It was very expensive work (probably more than the equipment is actually worth), but it all had sentimental value to me. Ben was extremely thorough and told me exactly what he was going to need to do. To say Ben is knowledgeable about vintage stereo equipment is an understatement. His walls are literally covered with dozens of certifications from various brands and it was so nice to be able to trust that my equipment was going to be treated with the care and attention to detail I expected. I'm extremely happy with the service I received and will absolutely be going back to him for anything I need in the future.

    My stereo repair guy is cooler than your stereo repair guy.  Period. 

    Stereo repair #1: I have my old family stereo: a 1970 Pioneer, 4 channel, quadrophonic-sound, integrated receiver.  It hasn't worked in years, since before 1999. When it did work it worked sporadically.  My mother finally gave up on having it repaired and bought something new.  I have lugged this behemoth around since sometime in 1999 or 2000.  Any time I described it to a stereo repair person I was told to not waste any money on it.  Until I met Art.  He recommended I bring it in. He agreed to let me know if it wasn't worth sinking money into.  With a simple cleaning of internal connections and a front-to-back checkup he had it sounding better than it did after the last time I remember my mom having it "fixed".  And for $25.

    Stereo repair #2: I purchased a 1978 Sansui receiver to use in my office-nothing fancy, but it looked cool & vintage, and it worked great.  Something finally gave out on it, but I couldn't get rid of it.  Art took this thing apart while I waited, after initially telling me he needed to leave for a service call. I sat and watched him work on this thing, and got the impression he would never let an audio conundrum defeat him.  He knows his stuff.  He isolated the problem, and I took the receiver home within an hour of my arrival.

    Stereo repair #3: I picked up a Denon receiver with what I unprofessionally diagnosed as a "blown channel".  Art went through this thing front to back and fixed it.

    I had already mentally prepared myself to be willing to throw away any of the three. I'm sure he would have told me if any or all of them were lost causes. Instead he made short work out of all of them, a tribute to his 4 decades of experience & knowledge.  I am impressed, and will bring any future electronic problems to Art. Because I know he will fix them.  So dump your stereo/TV repair guy and get with Art....because Art is the best. 

    I told Art I would gladly do a review here on Angie's List, saying I was going to lead with "My stereo repair guy can beat up your stereo repair guy".  After further consideration I thought it best to just go with the fact that he is way cooler than your stereo repair guy because I shouldn't promote violence between stereo & TV repair people.

    I scheduled an appointment with provider for 11:00 AM Tuesday 7/16/13, the provider called me at 10:30 AM and stated he would be late due to waiting for a delivery at his store.  Provider told me that he would be 1 or 2 hours late waiting for delivery.  The provider then called me at 3:30 PM stating that he was on his way to my house but did not show up until 4:45 PM.  The provider was to mount 3 flat screen TV's and install 2 in-the-ceiling speakers.  At 7:00 PM the provider had only completed the install of the 3 flat screen TV's and said I had to reschedule a time for him to complete the speaker install.  It was not my fault he was late coming to my house and he should have completed the job I hired him for.  Disrupting my schedule for another day because of tardiness was uncalled for and the provider should have made an extra effort to complete the job I hired him to do.
    Being nice, I then rescheduled to install speakers for 1:00 PM Sunday 7/21/2013.  At 1:30 PM Sunday 7/12/2013, the provider had not showed up to my house, I then called him and asked what the issue was and he told me he was running behind at his current job and would be 2 hours late and would call me when he would be on the way.  The provider never showed up on Sunday to install my speakers.  I tried calling the next day Monday 7/22/2013  and the provider will not return my phone calls.
    This company is completely unprofessional and is not punctual.  The prices he quoted me on the phone were different from the price he wanted to charge.  
    Warning to everyone...Do not use this company if you want professional, punctual service and pricing as quoted.

    The problem was an $800 home theater and stereo system that would not produce sound after only six months past the two year factory warranty. With coaching and appropriate terminology from Art, I was able to email the Onkyo service center and get a one time warranty extension to repair the unit. My only cost was $39 for shipment to a Onkyo service center in Indianapolis. I'm still waiting for the repaired unit to return from the service center. I hope this story ends well when I get it back.
    Overall, ART' S TV VCR And STEREO REPAIR was very helpful and instrumental in a potentially expensive repair situation. Well worth the $20 charged. Fair and reasonable has certainly made a return customer out of me.
