We had four companies provide quotations, and Holmes Siding was the lowest, by a significant margin. Holmes was also the most detailed in pre-discussing all options, and areas that would need special attention. So, even though they were the lowest, we were also very comfortable that they would be able to do the work we needed. In particular, we were interested to have a complete wood siding tear-off, add Tyvek wrapping, then put on insulated vinyl siding over the complete house. Additionally, we wanted the wood soffets to be removed, and replaced with vented aluminum soffet, with aluminum siding wrapping all of the exposed wood surfaces that would remain. We were particularly impressed with their versatile aluminum bending capability, even though 90% of the job was in vinyl, this allowed all the trim to be customized as needed. We also had them replace all of our gutters and downspouts, including their recommended Leaf Relief system.
We had about 2-3 days of tear off, then about 5 days of putting on the new materials. They had a crew of 4 to 6 workers every day, and they arrived promptly at the agreed on time every morning. The project took a little longer than we (and they) expected, but the crew was on assignment at our house until it was completed. They cleaned up at the end of every day, with a major clean-up at the end. There were numerous, custom issues, and they described options for each and we would decide on a day-by-day basis some of the final details. It was particularly convenient that I could go home for lunch daily to discuss things with the crew. The siding crew was excellent. They were careful craftsmen, and every detail was attended to. The gutter crew was not quite as well prepared, and needed more supervision than I would have thought necessary. In fact, we did have to have an extra service call to fully seal the gutters. Since the house looked so nice, we cut down our front tree to get a better view. When we did this, we noticed some minor siding issues that were previously hidden. This was about 1 month after the job was completed and full payment had been made. We called on these issues, and Holmes sent out a crew to perform the repair within 2 days of our call! The issues were fixed to our complete satisfaction at no extra charge. We were incredibly impressed with their customer commitment and rapid response. We recommend this company whole heartedly.
