Exquisite professional work. Dan was exceptional in explaining and diagnosing the problem. His crew was professional, friendly, always on time and took extreme care to keep the place clean. Beautiful job on putting landscape back as it was. I can't say enough about how wonderful their customer service is and highly recommend this company. Thank you Dan, William and Gino! Great job!

    DiFranco Contractors Inc
Excellent. Hands down any work in the future of this sort I will use Difranco and refer them with the highest confidence of getting quality work, on schedule, fair pricing, and professional. I wouldn't even call someone else for another quote. *Note: We had this work done last year (summer 17) and review 'pended' for some reason without my knowledge. Well, one year later after a very wet winter and spring - no moisture in basement.

On time and very professional. They took great care not to leave a mess each day and kept me informed during the process. Job was particularly challenging due to poor soil conditions and weather but they managed well.

Chubb Construction and Basement Waterproofing Inc
I had an issue with the walls in my crawl space. The wall was cracked and lifted during the winter. Water leaked in every time it rained.  I called numerous companies to get a quote on fixing the problem. Most wanted to control the water by digging a trench drain on the inside of the foundation and direct the water to a sump well and pump it outside. Chubb Construction was the only company that wanted to really fix the problem by repairing the outside of the foundation walls and lay new drain tiles.
The quote was the highest from all the companies that wanted to fix the problem. Mr. Chubb was the only one who was interested in fixing the problem and not controlling the water issue. He was very honest as to what needed to be done. I signed a contract in June and was contacted a few days later to say that I would be put on the schedule and that it may take a while until I heard back from them. I had read in prior Angie?s list reviews that this was going to happen as they are backed up with the amount of work they do. I did not consider this to be a problem because I believe they are busy because of their quality work.
I was contacted in the second week of October and said it would be scheduled for the next week. I was called a couple days before the work was to start. On the day promised an entire crew with many trucks came out and trenched around 3 - 22 foot walls, cutting concrete on all sides of the walls. New drain tiles were placed around the footers and attached to existing drain tiles around the walls that were not trenched. All were tied into sump well. During the trenching one of the walls one of the foundation walls crumbled. Mr. Chubb came out the next day to discuss what was needed to fix the crumbled wall. The entire wall was replaced the following day at an additional cost and all outside walls were sealed.  A few days later gravel was added to get ready for concrete replacement. An inside sump well was dug deeper to accommodate a sump well liner. At this point the existing pipe running to the inside sump well was determined to be filled with concrete greatly reducing the flow from the drain tiles. After unsuccessfully trying to clear out the pipe, Dan the foreman had his guys remove the gravel already placed in the trench and replaced the incoming pipe completely. I think most companies would have just let it be as this required an additional couple of hours to complete this.  The work was finished and the yard and driveway were cleaned up. The crew did an excellent job of cleaning up when they finished each day.
The concrete work was finished a few days later when the weather permitted. Much care was taken to match the existing concrete. The overall concrete job looked excellent and I was very pleased with the results.
Overall they did everything that was promised and I feel the quality of work was outstanding.  Mr. Chubb offers a 20 year guarantee and I can see why. The work they do is high quality. The problem was fixed, not just ?controlled?.

Domenick Electric Sewer Cleaning Co Inc
Because they could not see what lay in their path, the men ran over my flower bed spewing the bricks over the snow and leveling two bushes in half. This was not necessary if they had mapped a path previously to the snowfall. My cable line was cut, and I was without internet or cable for days. The Invisible Fence line was also cut. My dogs were without this for over a week. These lines should have been located before work commenced. Furthermore, the trench was not fully filled in. I was told by one of the excavators that for $400, I could have Domenick fill this in with soil and cover it with grass and peat moss in the spring.
I called Domenick's 4 or 5 times, but was only permitted to speak with his secretary. Domenick refused to speak to me and personally answer my questions. He told me through his secretary that landscaping damage  was not covered. But my landscaping should not have been damaged in the first place. I also wanted to speak to him about the lines that were cut. I was so frustrated because he would not take my calls.
He did reimburse me for the repair of my Invisible Fence line. I thought it unfair that I I had to pick up the bricks and store them in my garage. They could have cleaned this up. They also left a pipe in my side yard. I received no apology for damage or for the inconveniences I experienced. On the invoice, I would not sign that I was satisfied with the job.
My landscaper saw the work and commented about how the holes could become deeper as the ground settled. He believed it would be dangerous for my dogs to be left free in the front yard. So I keep them in the backyard. If the work had been done when the weather was more conducive, I would have had less damage. My landscaper also called later to tell me that one of his customers had Domenick do some work for him, and that the customer was dissatisfied also.

Chubb Construction and Basement Waterproofing Inc
Chubb did the work as promised.  They excavated, waterproofed,  added storm drain tie in and back filled with gravel and dirt.  Then replaced the back walkway that had to be removed to do the work.
They did a fantastic job on everything.   Highly recommended!

We wanted a company to take a look at our septic system's leach field before we placed our home on the market to be sold.  Marut & Sons was listed on Lake County's 'Registered Installers For Household Sewage Treatment Systems' and were also listed on Angie's List under excavating.  I called Marut & Sons on 6/20 and Jeff Marut promptly returned my call and suggested the cause of my problem.  Within a week Jeff came to our home and corrected the system's flow problem and suggested other repairs (excavate around boxes, remove debris from boxes, adjust elbow's in boxes to regulate water flow and install risers to grade).  On 6/26 I received a $65.00 invoice for the work he did on my system and a written estimate of $900.00 to do the other repairs he suggested.  Note: The $65.00 invoice was reasonable, but I did not know he was charging me to come to my home to inspect the leach field.

To clarify what was included in his $900.00 estimate, I contacted Marut's office on 6/30 and asked for Jeff to return my call - no response.

Called office on 7/7 and asked for Jeff, left a message stating that I wanted to clarify the estimate - no response.

Called Jeff's cell phone on 7/14 - message on cell was that he was on vacation until 7/21.

Called Jeff's cell on 7/22 - message on cell was that he was on vacation until 7/21. Then called office on 7/22 and the woman who answered said he would call me back.   He did call back later that day and left a message to call back.  I returned the call when I came home.  He did not answer and I left a message on his cell asking him to call back after 6pm that day - no call back.

Called Jeff's cell on 7/23 and said I would be home for the next 3 hours and asked him to call back - no call back.

Called Marut's office on 7/29 and left a message asking Jeff to call back after 12 noon (I was not going to be home until then). When I returned home just before noon, I had two messages. One was from Scott Marut the other from Jeff, both returned the call around 10:30am, even though my message said to call back after noon.  I called Jeff's cell at 12:20pm and left a message to call back - no response.

Called Jeff's cell on 7/30 and he answered.  We went over the quote in which he stated the following are included in his estimate: all parts and labor; all risers to be screwed in; and Marut & Sons guarantees that said work outlined in his estimate will result in our home's septic system passing the necessary inspections required for it to be sold (provided we do not flood the system by over usage).  I also asked when the work could be done, he stated he would check his calendar and call me back within a week to set a specific date.  On 7/30 I sent an email to Marut confirming this discussion.

On 7/31 I sent another email to Jeff stating that, in our 7/30 conversation, we did not discuss the remedies contained in his guarantee in the unlikely event of an inspection failure and I wrote suggested wording to cover that issue.  Again, I mentioned that time was of the essence and that I look forward to his response within his stated timeframe of one week.

It is 8/6, 9:45am and No Response.

One can only speculate as to why I had such a terrible communication problem with Marut & Sons, who I truly believe is well qualified to repair the minor issues I have with my septic system.  Were the communication problems caused by my desire to clarity, in writing, a loosely worded estimate or were they caused by me putting in writing the verbal guarantee I was given and its associated remedies?  I do not know the answer to these questions.  I suggest future potential customers request an answer from Marut & Sons.

    Concrete Unlimited
Prompt response. Best quote (all quotes received were essentially the same work and materials and had a 4-5 week lead time to start). Quotes for the 1370 square foot job ranged from $5,650 to an outlandishly high of almost $7,900. By luck they were able to squeeze us in due to scheduling issues only a week after signing. They removed old cement and formed on day one, placed cement day two and removed forms, cut cement and filled in dirt on day three. Neat throughout the process. Job well done and we've recommended them to our neighbors.
I saw this contractor doing another driveway in Mentor while driving to work in May and noted that they got in, got the job done in a couple of days and the end result looked good. It is what prompted me to call them.
