    BCB WATERPROOFING
Edited review dated 3/12/2012: On the day Carlo Marcellino - BCB Waterproofing (he operates under many names), came to start the job, it had rained pretty hard the prior day. He dug up the patio area with his Bobcat, and the back yard along the fence, for drain tile. He also tore up the whole yard with his Bobcat, and had run into the back of the house, ripping off siding. Then, he disappeared for two weeks, not answering multiple calls to his phone. Unfortunately, my elderly mother had given him $2250 down, or we would have fired him then and there. When she did get him to answer the phone, he said he was planning on finishing the job the following day, stating, "I got lots of jobs ahead of yours, lady. Do you think you're special or something?" When my mother told me this, I made arrangements to come for the following days pour. When I arrived in the morning, we had to wait for Carlo. He showed around noon, followed by a Demilta cement truck. Unfortunately, I was in the basement doing a task for my mother, when he arrived and instructed the Demilta truck to drive up my mothers drive to dump the cement. As they were pouring the concrete I went out the back door to ask Carlo about the ruts in the front and back yard, which he denied. As I took him around the front to show him what I was talking about, this is when I noticed the truck had crushed my mother's drive like a saltine cracker. When I asked him why he instructed the truck to pull in, he said to me, "did you think the cement was going to walk up the drive, lady?" To say I was speechless is an understatement. When I told him my father was a contractor before he passed, and that I knew he should have used a concrete cart, and that I also suspected the mix had too much water in it, due to the consistency at the pour. He said to me, "Well, we could just go upstairs and F*ck, and call it even.", at which point he grabbed my breast. I immediately told him to get off the property and called the police. He loaded up his Bobcat and drove away, leaving behind an un-floated concrete patio pour, a ruined driveway, destroyed landscaping, and the damaged siding. My mother was in tears, and out the $2250 she had already given for the job. When we tried to file for his bond at Eastlake City Hall, we discovered he had no bond to work in Eastlake; nor was he insured. All in all, It took $15000 and a full year, to get a $4500 patio poured and drain tile repaired. Although my mothers insurance covered it, she was out a $1000 deductible and an increase in her rate. Interestingly, a week after this altercation, my mother had all her tires flattened on her car. March 9, 2019 update: Since writing this review and one on Yelp, Carlo and his daughter, Bianca Marcellino have made veiled threats against my sister and myself, making statements, such as well settle this Collinwood style, and Bada-bing, Bada-BOOM on their Facebook pages and through private messages, and putting screenshots of our Facebook profiles on their pages, in an attempt to intimidate us into removing reviews. When it didnt work, Carlo showed up at my sisters place of work and attempted to jump over the counter, yelling he was going to choke the F%$#g life out of her. Eastlake and Willoughby police got involved and ordered them to stop or be arrested. As recently as this week, his daughter was convicted in Geauga County municipal court of Animal Abuse for starving her horses and had them confiscated. They are now threatening my sister, again, and other residents for speaking out. These people are nothing but common thugs.

    Wheeler & Son Cement Contractors
This job was to replace buckled and uneven concrete in my garage, and the concrete driveway leading into my garage. I had issues with rainwater back flowing into garage causing moisture issues inside the garage, Wheeler and Sons did a professional job removing the old concrete and replacing with new. They sloped the concrete properly, and installed a new drain in the driveway which works well in getting water away from the garage. I am very happy with the quality of work, and would hire again. They ran into some unknown difficulties which added time to the job, but they honored the quote I was given.

    Mr V's Concrete & Construction
Did a professional job in a timely manner at a good price. Took extra precautions to insure the steps and slab wouldn't fail in the future by 1) installing a cement block foundation for the steps to prevent the steps from sinking, 2) reinforcing the porch brick base by anchoring it with rebar attached to the block foundation of my house, 3) reinforcing the new concrete slab of the porch with wire mesh and 4) installed a control joint in the concrete slab. These were 4 items that a previous contractor 20 years ago didn't do which caused the steps to sink, the slab to crack and sink back toward the house (which directed rain falling on the porch back to the foundation of my house which caused water in my basement several times), and the brickwork on the porch base to heave and leave gaps between the brick's mortar.

    Wheeler & Son Cement Contractors
They did an excellent job. I can't say nothing bad about them. They were good. They delivered it. They cleaned up. They did everything as I would hope them to. I would give them an A across the board. I'll absolutely use them again. That was a fair price based upon all the estimated that I had gotten.

Chubb Construction and Basement Waterproofing Inc
I had an issue with the walls in my crawl space. The wall was cracked and lifted during the winter. Water leaked in every time it rained.  I called numerous companies to get a quote on fixing the problem. Most wanted to control the water by digging a trench drain on the inside of the foundation and direct the water to a sump well and pump it outside. Chubb Construction was the only company that wanted to really fix the problem by repairing the outside of the foundation walls and lay new drain tiles.
The quote was the highest from all the companies that wanted to fix the problem. Mr. Chubb was the only one who was interested in fixing the problem and not controlling the water issue. He was very honest as to what needed to be done. I signed a contract in June and was contacted a few days later to say that I would be put on the schedule and that it may take a while until I heard back from them. I had read in prior Angie?s list reviews that this was going to happen as they are backed up with the amount of work they do. I did not consider this to be a problem because I believe they are busy because of their quality work.
I was contacted in the second week of October and said it would be scheduled for the next week. I was called a couple days before the work was to start. On the day promised an entire crew with many trucks came out and trenched around 3 - 22 foot walls, cutting concrete on all sides of the walls. New drain tiles were placed around the footers and attached to existing drain tiles around the walls that were not trenched. All were tied into sump well. During the trenching one of the walls one of the foundation walls crumbled. Mr. Chubb came out the next day to discuss what was needed to fix the crumbled wall. The entire wall was replaced the following day at an additional cost and all outside walls were sealed.  A few days later gravel was added to get ready for concrete replacement. An inside sump well was dug deeper to accommodate a sump well liner. At this point the existing pipe running to the inside sump well was determined to be filled with concrete greatly reducing the flow from the drain tiles. After unsuccessfully trying to clear out the pipe, Dan the foreman had his guys remove the gravel already placed in the trench and replaced the incoming pipe completely. I think most companies would have just let it be as this required an additional couple of hours to complete this.  The work was finished and the yard and driveway were cleaned up. The crew did an excellent job of cleaning up when they finished each day.
The concrete work was finished a few days later when the weather permitted. Much care was taken to match the existing concrete. The overall concrete job looked excellent and I was very pleased with the results.
Overall they did everything that was promised and I feel the quality of work was outstanding.  Mr. Chubb offers a 20 year guarantee and I can see why. The work they do is high quality. The problem was fixed, not just ?controlled?.

    Gaetano Cement Contractor LLC
I had a great experience with Gaetano Cement. I would HIGHLY recommend using this company for any cement work
you need done. They were very courteous, even my neighbors commented on how polite the team of workers were. Weather was shakey but they kept me informed as to when they would be out and what time they would be there. The job was done
in two day total and their attention to detail is incredible. Thanks again!

    Municipal Services of America
Everything was fine until concrete dried.  The patio is 20x25 and 1/3 of the patio is discolored and the finish is completely wrong.  I contacted the provider between the week of May 28-June 6 everyday and he finally contacted me on June 6. Since that contact on June 6 and I have heard nothing from him. I have provided pictures and additional  texts message since with no response.

    Concrete Unlimited
Prompt response. Best quote (all quotes received were essentially the same work and materials and had a 4-5 week lead time to start). Quotes for the 1370 square foot job ranged from $5,650 to an outlandishly high of almost $7,900. By luck they were able to squeeze us in due to scheduling issues only a week after signing. They removed old cement and formed on day one, placed cement day two and removed forms, cut cement and filled in dirt on day three. Neat throughout the process. Job well done and we've recommended them to our neighbors.
I saw this contractor doing another driveway in Mentor while driving to work in May and noted that they got in, got the job done in a couple of days and the end result looked good. It is what prompted me to call them.

    Lake Eire Companies
LECO accommodated my (home owner) desire & schedule to do all excavating and fill. The work was compleded over a two week period with LECO making all city inspector & concrete delivery arrangements. The employees were conscious and creative in resolving job site problems. The LECO owner/POC was on site numerous times particularly during pours. Through out the whole process both the owner and the employees made sure that our understanding, desires & best interest were first priority.
