    Granger Asphalt & Concrete Paving
It went very well. The 2 workers arrived as expected, and did an excellent and neat job. They notified me they had arrived and advised not to use driveway for 24 hours. They taped off the entrance to the driveway when finished.

They came out, measured and told us how much it will be. They seem to be very well organized. We had an agreement to have the work completed in the Fall weather permitting. We now have agreed to wait until the Spring.

    Holland Paving
The asphalt driveway is beautiful!  I called Holland Paving in June and spoke with David Amicone, explaining we had a dirt driveway and wanted an asphalt driveway.  David suggested I contact a local company as they would probably have a better price since they would be local compared to Holland Paving being in Cleveland and the cost for equipment would include travel.  I did contact a local company whose salesperson returned my call a week and a half later and AFTER David called within the week to say he would be in the area and would stop to look at our drive.  David was punctual, professional, and knowledgeable.  He and I discussed the water issues we were having due to our home sitting lower than the street and offered several ways to alleviate the water coming into the garage from the driveway.  David advised we could have the turnaround swaled towards the drain and there would be a rise at the top of the drive where it would be higher than the street, in addition to installing an additional drain. He advised he would review his estimate with another estimator in the office and get back to me in several days with an exact cost.  I received the proposal within a few days and the price was very reasonable, $7000, minus the additonal drain, as it would not be needed.
Holland Paving contacted me with a date to install the driveway in July, and I advised we would not be ready for our driveway until mid-September as we were having other work done, such as landscaping, that needed to be completed before the driveway.  They were very gracious and would be in contact with me as that timeframe drew nearer.   David kept in contact with me and we arranged for the driveway to be installed the first week in October.
The crew came out and began their process of removing part of the concrete pad in front of the garage that had cracked and risen up.  Well to our surprise and theirs, the concrete that was to be removed was an enormous section of concrete that was approximately 3 feet deep by 2 feet wide and about 18 feet long.  The crew worked all day to dig this monstrosity out and came back the next day to break it up into 4 sections to be hauled away.  Needless to say, this increased the cost of the project due to the work and time the crew spent on the concrete section (2 days), which we completely understood and were grateful that they were able to take care of this for us..
After a couple days of rain, the crew came out to do the grading and the base was too soft, so we were delayed a few more days.  All the while, David was in contact with me and kept me apprised of when the crew would be out.  I had some reservation due to the rainy weather we were to get, but David assured me that they would not be installing the driveway in the rain.
The driveway was installed and looks great!  Everyone at Holland Paving that worked with us, the crew, the office staff, and David were courteous, professional, knowledgeable, and skillful in their area of responsibility and did a fantastic job installing our asphalt driveway.  We couldn't be more pleased and impressed with this company and their employees!

inferior installation of asphalt seal coating in September of 2012.
Sable promised several times in 2013 to inspect the coating, most of which had been worn away  Sable never showed up as promised.
I again contacted Sable in Spring of 2014 and was finally able to have a sales person come out.  He agreed that
there should be a reinstall at no charge.  At this time I also contracted for additional repairs in the amount of $750.  I called
several times to get a installation date and  told I was first on the list for Spring installation.  Sable never called to schedule a date
through the Spring and Summer of 2014.
I called to cancel my $750 work order in September of 2014 and folled that with an Email but never received a return call or confirmation  from Sable.

They did a fantastic job. I would recommend them in a second. The guy gave me the estimate and I only talked to him once. They were very reliable. They showed up when they said they'd show up. They sent me the quote when I told them to do it. They did it within a week. The price was really exceptional because I had called other places and they gave me quote of twice what Buckeye did.

    Samartano Concrete Co Inc
Lousy. No follow through. I think John made up his mind it was too late in the year to do a concrete drive for me but he didn't bother to let me know same. He had such a high rating with the BBB too. My biggest pet peeve is contractor that doesn't follow through, like this company.

    Protect-A-Cote Inc.
The owner of the company came out to meet with me and ended up givine me a comprehensive analysis of my driveway. I ended up going several years without it being seal coated, so the surface of the drive was slightly damaged in a few areas. Fred, the owner, explained to me what they will do, how it will look and what to ultimately expect. Out of the 4 companies I contacted, Protect-a-coat was the only one that actually talked to me about their process (others dropped a quote off in the mail).

The initial discussion is what sold me on their services.

Several weeks later, they came out. I met with the two installers and went over my driveway, the trouble areas and what I liked and disliked about previous times I had it seal coated. They took their time (I have a BIG driveway - about 600 ft long!), were patient and ultimately, I was very happy with their work.

Based off of my previous seal coats by other companies, I felt that Protect-a-coat did the best job and I would hire them again.

This was the easiest transaction I have ever made! The property is a rental so I appreciated Eric's flexibility. He visited the property and promptly emailed a quote within a day. He offered options for additional work and was honest about the life of my driveway and what steps would be needed to keep it maintained. He didn't oversell the job. I didn't realize that temperatures had to be at least 50 degrees in order for the sealcoat to cure correctly and Eric was honest about the possibility of not getting to the job this year due to weather restrictions. About 10 days later Eric gave me 4 days notice that the driveway would be on his schedule which allowed me ample time to notify my renters. Job was done on time, there seemed to be no mess and my renters were pleased that there was no disruption to their schedule. At the end of the day Eric sent me the invoice and I mailed him a check. The whole experience was pleasant.

They did an excellent job! The company who had previously done the same thing was no where in comparison to the great job these guys did for me. I was very impressed with how thick they laid the asphalt. The final bill was actually cheaper than the estimate they gave me prior to beginning. The entire job took one day. They arrived on-time and were very professional and cleaned everything up before they left.

Emmett is very reasonably priced and his work is very good, but not usually on schedule and not very good at communicating. He promised to stop by the house one evening to go over our estimate. He did not show up. I called him the next day to find out what happened and he explained that he stayed late at a previous job. He promised to call me later to talk more. He did not. The next day I called him again and he said he was at my house doing the job. I told him to stop working because I did not authorize him to begin any work. We later finalized details and he completed the work. The end product was very good, but I am disappointed that I had to keep tabs on him.
