Masonry reviews in Mason

Real People ~ Real Reviews ~ Real Results

  • Fantastic Job - Chimneys look great!  Fireplace insert works and is quite enjoyable at night.  We never notice how bad and ugly our gutters really were until we saw the new ones installed.
Everyone on ARCO's team.... from the chimney mason to the owner were very professional.  All of them were punctual and focused on doing the very best job they could.  Amazing attention to detail.
We were so pleased with the work and the interaction with ARCO that we looked around the house for any other work that needs done.
    Highly recommend!

  • Glenn did a fantastic job from estimate to completion of the job. I received several estimates to do the work and Glenn was by far the lowest. He showed up on time to give me a written estimate and when I accepted, he gave me a date to complete the work.. he completed the work on the scheduled date and I was extremely pleased with his work. Also, I had forgotten to ask him to remove a stain on some of my bricks but he did that work for me at no extra charge. Glenn is extremely professional and takes pride in his work.   I almost want to have more problems with my bricks so I can hire him again, LOL! Seriously though, I am very pleased with his work

  • For the past 4 years, we have experienced water dripping down our masonry chimney onto our new high effeciency insert, usually at times of hard downpours, or extended periods of rain.  We had a crown seal coating sold to us when we upgraded our fireplace insert back in 2009. Unfortunately, these are just band aids. Since we were having our roofing and siding replaced, we decided that this would be the right time to get our chimney water problem solved and corrected,  once and for all.   Being an Angie's List member, it was easy to search for the right company to do the work.   Since we had contacted several chimney sweep companies in the past, without much luck, we decided to go in a different direction this time, and it has been a lesson well learned.  We contacted several chimney masonry repair companies, because this is what we needed. Chimney repair, not chimney cleaning!
Pricing is always a consideration to us, but even more important is the quality of materials used, as well as craftsmanship and customer service provided.  Of the companies we contacted, the one who stood head and shoulders above the rest was Bruce D. Ryan's Masonry Construction.  Mr. Ryan is a real professional and craftsman.  He has great customer service skills as well. After my initial call to him, he called me back when promised and set the appointment to come out to inspect my chimney.  On the Saturday morning we met, he went up on my roof and did a detailed inspection of the chimney including photo's.  He made recommendations as far as the best solutions to the water problems, and what materials he would be using.  You see, what sets him apart from the others, in addition to his expert craftsmanship, is the fact that he doesn't use any poured concrete for crowns or shoulder tops.  Only 2 and 1/2" solid limestone which is beautiful, with no cracking to worry about, only the rain and snow to shed off of it.  He explained that it has a lifetime warranty, at least 100 years, so we don't think we'll have to worry about that anymore.  Since we are in the process of having our home re-sided, Mr. Ryan was able to work with us to complete the job before our siding was installed, a real plus!
The day of the work, he and his crew showed up promptly and began the setup process.  They were very careful to not disturb or damage anything and I was impressed with this.  His crew was very polite, and very dedicated to performing high quality work.  As a homeowner, they gave me a lot of confidence that the job would be done correctly and timely. In fact, the whole repair was done in about 5-6 hours. They cleaned everything up, removed their scaffolding, and it was like they were never there.  If a chimney can look fantastic, that is what ours looks like now, a unique look that adds to our homes overall appearance. The real benefit, though, is by having this done, along with the sealing of the brick, our chimney should last the lifetime of our home with resealing of the brick every 7 years as Mr. Ryan recommends.
It was a pleasure to have Bruce D. Ryan's Masonry Construction repair our chimney. We know that the job was done right, and our worries of water damage are over.  It is well worth the money spent.
We would highly recommend Mr. Ryan's company to anyone needing chimney brick repair and/or crown replacement as he is professional, fair and honest! Qualities that are harder to find these days in the world of home improvement.

    • Tony Zelaya was very helpful and courteous when we visited his showroom. The showroom has enough of a selection to choose from. Tony was very good at answering all the questions and offering his advice on the pluses and minuses of the different granite varieties.
    • They did a quality job. They arrived well prepared and got the job done really quick.
The only negative is not responding to some of my answering machine messages. He did finally get back to me and said that he was on vacation so maybe, it is a non-issue. However, he should have probably changed his answering machine message to indicate he was on vacation.

  • I used an Angie's List coupon for 4 hours of labor they said had a value of $396 for $99.  The company was very professional. I don't understand masonry so I can only say that cosmetically it looks fine.

  • I was contacted by Bone Dry after I purchased the coupon, to set up an appointment for someone to come out and take a look at the areas where we needed to have the repair work done.  Pat came out on 7/9 to survey the job.  He told me that the deal only included labor, and that there would be another $65 in materials.  Two days later the work was done.  It went fairly well a though I did have to point out some areas that the worker missed, after he had already put his ladder away on the truck.  I had covered all of the details with Pat, but the guy who came out to do the work did not seem to have understood what needed to be done.  Time will tell if the work holds up.

  • The entire job went well enough that we wrote Mr. Mattes a letter complimenting the crew. We wish that all jobs could be handled this well. Really, there is nothing that we would offer as suggestions for improvement.

  • The projects were completed in excellent fashion. Ken Bryan is a great communicator and kept us informed of the progress all along the way. From the beginning, Ken dealt with us in an honest and professional way. He employs skilled tradesmen and hires excellent subcontractors. All workers were courteous and respectful. His pricing is fair and we feel strongly that we received value for the dollars spent. We unconditionally recommend Ken Bryan and his company, KBC, Inc for any remodeling job that you may have.

  • HI-CON GAVE US A VERBAL ESTIMATE BASED ON EXPLANATION OF THE JOB NEEDING DONE. THE VERBAL WAS AROUND $500-$700. AFTER INSPECTING THE PROPERTY, I WAS TOLD I WOULD GET A CALL BACK THE NEXT DAY WITH THE ESTIMATE. TWO DAYS LATER I CALLED AND LEFT A MESSAGE. THREE DAYS LATER I CALLED. NOBODY EVER RETURNED MY CALL. AFTER ABOUT 2 WEEKS WE RECEIVED A WRITTEN ESTIMATE IN THE MAIL THAT WAS $1295, ABOUT TWICE WHAT THE VERBAL ESTIMATE WAS. THEY MIGHT DO QUALITY WORK, BUT WITHOUT THE SERVICE BEFORE THE SALE THEY WON''T HAVE MUCH OF IT TO DO.

  • Went very well. The workers showed up on time, were polite and professional, worked hard and were responsive to requests made by us during the work process. Very satisfied and would hire again.
