    MEMORIAL HOSPITAL-UNION
The therapy is not an issue.  The physical therapist was professional and did her job.  Therapy was stopped, however, after I found out the billing charges.  So therefore this complaint is based solely on the amount billed.
The exam fee was $238, for example.  15 minutes of questioning my son and the therapist completing a computer survey; app. 5 minutes of examining my son's ankle by manipulation; and app. 10 minutes to fit a brace.  In response, this survey could have been done prior to seeing the therapist, for it involved basic questions like rate 1 to 10 how hard it would be to walk down steps, etc.   All in all, not worth the money for an exam that was MANDATORY.  After the exam, the therapist introduced exercises that my son would be doing.  I originally thought this was part of the exam until I was billed $116 for this part, which lasted only 10-15 minutes.
Following the exam was a string of appointments which lasted 30-45 minutes.   I then received my bill for $1, 157.00.  After investigating this I found out that I was being charged $116 for each segment of fifteen minutes.  Also, one session went 38 minutes.  Since the third segment went at least 8 minutes, I was charged another $116 !  Unbelievable!
After speaking to customer service , I got nowhere.  There was no compromising, no settlement, nothing.  Their message was simple:  Our rates are competitive for hospitals, and if you don't pay then we will take you to collections!
To sum this up, I recently payed $110 an hour for private physical therapy.  So for a hospital to tell me that a $464 an hour  charge is reasonable and fair is ridiculous.  Plus the fact that they are taking advantage of consumers!  So what did I learn?  Go to private physical therapy where the care is just as good.  And if enough people do this then by supply and demand I guarantee that the hospitals will lower their price and charge what is really fair and reasonable!

The nursing staff is great. Friendly, communicative and overall great. We have found the doctors are not comfortable treating children. As a result, they always recommend an ambulance ride to Children's Nationwide. The first time we openly agreed and spent a small fortune on an ambulance and found that our child was fine and that Nationwide stated it may have not made sense to take the trip. The second time we openly stated we did not think the trip was necessary and they essentially stated they thought it was and that our child could be in danger. So, another ambulance trip and a small fortune. Nationwide openly stated that our child was fine and that we did not need to be there.

I liked the attending doctor. I was not very impressed with the rest of my visit at all. We are currently thinking of changing our medical coverage so that we can go to another hospital in the future.

We've been very impressed by them. They've been very good. The other hospitals I've been to weren't anywhere as near as good.

They kept me up to date. I felt like they communicated very well with me about my husband's condition and I appreciated that very much.
