    Larmco Windows
Sometime between 2003 and 2004 a faint mold odor began.  It would come then fade away quickly making it hard to pinpoint. There were no visible signs such as moisture or water just the come and go mold smell.  In 2010 while laying tile and laminate flooring I discovered rotted wood around the base of both sliding doors installed by Larmco.  Doing several leak tests  at the time it did not appear the doors were leaking water.  Based on that and how dry the good wood and rotted wood were it appears both sliders were installed by Larmco right over the bad wood. There was no mold smell.  Larmco's crew had to have seen the problem when they removed the old doors as I saw it as soon as the carpet was pulled up. Nothing was said to me at the time. Rotted thresholds and floor under both doors were removed and repaired.  In 2013 laminate flooring was installed in the rest of the house not done in 2010.  As soon as carpet was pulled up in the first bedroom the mold smell was very strong.  The floor, wall plate and studs under both windows were rotted half way up the wall.  The second bedroom on that exterior wall was found to be in the same condition.  It was determined the siding was not installed correctly on top of the stone facial.  The flashing between the siding and the stone and the windows was not present.  Also there was no caulking of any kind.  You could easily see right down the wall and into both rooms.  I contacted Larmco immediately I was unable to contact anybody about my problems and nobody called me back. I started taking pictures and keeping track of what was done.  Over a period of several days after my first I called Larmco and got the same answer leave a message and someone will call you back.  About a month after my first call the customer service manager called to discuss my issue. About a month later the Columbus Installation Manager came out to discuss the issue took four pictures of the outside of the house told me to document the problems and send that information to Larmco.  Three days in late August I mailed a CD with pictures, a letter describing the issue and spreadsheet with my costs for repairing the damage and asked for reimbursement. The Cleveland Larmco Installation Manager called me 4 days later.  After a brief discussion of the problem he stated that since I had not followed their escalation procedures for problems like this Larmco could not reimburse me any of my expenses. That procedure, not previously stated by Larmco, was to call them so they could come on site and look at the problem.  Without knowing their procedure they were given that opportunity but did no exercise it.  Then he offered to pay me 1/3 of my expenses which I refused. I have not heard from Larmco since.  Two weeks after this call I submitted a Better Business Bureau compliant that was sent to Larmco.  Larmco so far has not responded. I would not recommend using Larmco for any home improvement repairs.
