    Northeast Ohio Renovations
My house needed a complete exterior overhaul and glad I found the right company to do it. Northeast Ohio Renovations did a fantastic job and working with Bob Hegedish was a pleasure. Bob was the last one I got an estimate from, but so glad I waited. He ended up having the best price and was able to do all the work I required, which was nice as wanted to have only one contractor if at all possible. He replaced my entire roof, installed new vinyl siding , installed new gutters and downspouts, made some extensive repairs to my front porch, and is installing a new aluminum awning over my side door. All the work is done except for the awning and I couldn't be happier. This was a big undertaking for my wife and I as we have lived in our place for almost 40 years and intend to remain there for as long as the good Lord will let us as we love the place. That is why it was so important that what we did here would be something we would be happy with in both quality and appearance. Bob delivered both! All his crews were exceptional and did great work. They started with replacing the roof as I had already had a few leaks showing up so this was my first priority so that we would not have a lot of plaster or drywall damage from these leaks. Bob sent over his roofing crew chief to survey the work and while there he made a temporary repair to the work leak and this kept water from coming in until they could get back to replace the entire roof.. It wasn't long after that they returned to do the whole roof and worked diligently from start to finish, working on both Saturday and Sunday so they could beat the weather. Bob took the time to also match the exact shingle that was used when we had a new garage built 2 years ago so everything now matches perfectly. I have often been told a true measure of a company is not how they perform when everything goes right, but how they perform when things don't and Northeast Ohio Renovations passed this test with flying colors. About 3 weeks after the roof was complete and a couple of days before Thanksgiving, about 10 PM as it started to rain and sleet, I noticed water leaking at one of the areas where it had leaked previously. I was stunned as it had rained several time previously since they completed the roof replacement with no problem. I texted Bob that night and he answered immediately that he would send his roofer over to investigate the next day. I was contacted by them the next day but it was below freezing and the roofer said he wanted to check the area with a hose. It was also not supposed to rain for a few days so he asked if OK to come by the day after Thanksgiving as it was forecast to be warm and dry that day. They showed up on Friday true to their word and took a hose to the area to really see what was going on. They found out the leak was caused by a problem with a seal around the glass of one of my skylights, NOT anything they had installed, but they re-caulked the entire perimeter of the skylight anyhow and I have not had a problem since! The next project up was to vinyl side the entire house and Bob's crew has to be the best around. I know he said he had just has the one crew because he can't find the quality of installers he has on this crew and didn't want to give people a lesser quality installation because of it. I wasn't sure if I believed him, but do now. Danny and his crew are "artists" when it comes to vinyl siding and trim. The work was impeccable and details so well thought out. I am an architect by training and work in construction myself so can be a little particular, but don't think I could find one thing I would have done differently. I had to wait a few weeks to get the siding done since he only has the one crew, but definitely worth the wait. Bob also worked with me in what to do with the gables of the house and porch as while the siding itself was white these areas were covered with some type of green shingle-type material that did give some different texture and did provided some accent to the house's appearance. I originally thought about just covering these with the same white siding as the rest of the house, but wasn't certain how that would look since it would be so monolithic. With Bob's help we looked at going to a different color in these areas and settled on a medium grey to offset the white and it looks great! I couldn't be happier with how it looks and know I won't have to worry about painting forever! Danny also made my porch repairs and Bob was very patient to work with me in keeping costs to a minimum but yet making sure we took care of anything that really needed replacing. The porch was re-done about 30 years ago but had some floor boards and columns that had rotted out and needed replacing. Bob and Danny decided exactly what needed to be replaced and what was still good and now it looks like it did 30 years ago and should be good for anther 30! The gutters were the last thing done and, again, were perfect. I had gutter screens installed on the old gutters about 10 years ago and Bob said they were of good quality and still in good shape so they removed them prior to doing the roofing and then reinstalled them after the new gutters were installed so this saved me money. I know others would have tried to talk me into new ones. I am just waiting for my door awning to be fabricated and installed to have the project complete, but couldn't wait to share my experience with Northeast Ohio Renovations. I have been a member of Angie's List for many years with much success in the vendors I have used, but never felt compelled to write a review until now. I had never met Bob before I found him through Angie's List and he offered absolutely no incentives to write this review. I just like a man who does what he says he will do, does it well, and at at a fair price. I will definitely recommend him to my friends and call him for any other home renovation needs I may have. I highly recommend him if your are looking to do any similar type work.

Home Exteriors Roofing, Siding and Windows
Home Exteriors was great! Very professional, courteous and made the whole experience very easy. After Mark gave us the estimate it was a no-brainer that I would hire this company. He wasn't pushy and very sincere....He said it would be 3-4 weeks before they could start and that was exactly how long it took. The siding was delivered on Tuesday and Tony and his guys showed up Wednesday morning at 9am. These guys worked hard for the next 3 days in the hot humid rainy weather and by Friday they gave us a beautiful new house! The guys were polite, respectful and very professional. They did everything I asked of them! When I looked at my house I had to fight back the tears. Even the guy that came to haul away the trash was professional and picked up every little scrap left! I wasn't home when the gutters and downspouts were installed but my husband said he didn't even know they were they there! I would highly recommend them and they will get my business in the near future for a new roof!

These folks are wonderful...They were very patient in explaining what needed to be done to my grandmother's roof and chimney.  They explained it to her and they took the time to explain it to me.  They even sent me pictures while I was at work so that I could see what they were talking about.  The work was done professionally and completely to our satisfaction.  Would definitely recommend them as A+

    Sam The Gutter Man

Mr. Robert Fontana, the owner of Sam-the Gutter-Man, provided me with an estimate for all new aluminum gutters and downspouts on 12-10-2013.  I was very excited that he came out as agreed because frequently contractors either don?t return telephone calls or never come out to give you the promised estimate.  The company had been in business for a substantial amount of time, and had an A rating on Angie?s list, and I thought at the time that they were a member of the Greater Cleveland BBB.

When I called Mr. Fontana to tell him I had selected his company to install the gutters and downspouts he said that they would not be able to do the installation until the spring, as they were ceasing outside work during the winter.  I was disappointed that I would have to wait until spring, nonetheless I decided to go ahead and wait for his company because I was certain that I would be happy with the finished job.

I finally heard from Mr. Fontana in March and the gutters and downspouts were installed on March 31, 2014.  The cost of the gutters and downspouts for a small bungalow was $770 and an additional $500.00 for Leaf Guard: total $1,270.  Some of the gutters and downspouts could not be installed as the support beam over a 3-season room needed to be replaced before the gutters could be installed in that location.  The original price of the contract was $1270.  Due to the condition of a 3 season room attached to the house, two large sections of gutter and a downspout could not be completed.  Mr. Fontana charged me $1,000 of the $1,270 although two long sections of gutter and a downspout were not completed.

Upon examination of the completed work I was extremely disappointed as the workmanship on the gutters, downspouts, and the cementing was generally sloppy.  I could not believe that this was the same company that received so many sparkling reviews on Angie?s list.  (Photos of the work are available.).

Upon closer inspection of the work I noted that at least one of the downspouts did not cover the enter gutter outlet which means that water that is supposed to flow through the downspout into the drain tile is collecting at the foundation of the house which will lead to water in the basement.  Mr. Fontana had advised me when he did the inspection that I might want to consider replacing the 2x3 inch downspouts with 3x4 inch downspouts to better handle the rain coming off the roof and that is the option I chose to go with.  However it turned out the 3x4 downspouts were too large for the gutters and in a number of places the downspout overhangs the gutter. The leaf relief that was installed is not secured at the ends and will allow debris and leaves to accumulate inside the gutter.  One of the downspouts was bent, nonetheless the worker installed it anyway.  Likewise, even though clearly the downspouts were too large for the gutters in places, inexplicably the workers installed the gutters anyway.  It is incomprehensible to me that I ended up with such a poor result from Sam-The-Gutter-Man.

I am appalled by the poor workmanship and it is unbelievable that Mr. Fontana was satisfied with the work as he did inspect it before asking for payment.  The cement work on the clay drain tile was terrible and the downspout pipe bands were sloppily secured.  The old cement that was replaced was left behind at the work site.  Mr. Fontana came out to my house on May 8 and promised to come back out in the next ?week or two? to make repairs.  I felt compelled to hire an independent inspection contractor to meet with us as I felt as a single woman and a senior citizen, I could no longer trust Mr. Fontana to deal fairly with me.  On May 30 I still had not heard from him and left a message for him to call me to schedule the repairs.  Receiving no response, I called and left another message on June 2nd.  No return call was received.  I called again on June 4th.  At that time, I reminded him of his promise on May 8 to get back with me to make repairs.  He was unapologetic and had no explanation for why he did not follow-up with the commitment that he had made to me.  Mr. Fontana claims he did not get the two messages I had left.  He stated that he will call me on Monday (6/9) to schedule his workers to come out on Tuesday or Wednesday.

I am so soured on Mr. Fontana and his treatment of me that I would prefer that neither he nor his workers set foot on my property.  My preference is that he refund my money and remove the gutters and downspouts, however, I know that that will not happen.  I am not optimistic about the resolution of this situation as Mr. Fontana has only grudgingly agreed to make the repairs and so far has avoided doing so.  I am not certain why I received such shoddy, unprofessional service when so many of Mr. Fontana?s other customers were satisfied, but I am unhappy with the company.  I will provide an up-date after the repairs are made and hopefully my review will improve.

    Barbera Home Improvement
They had 10 (or more) workers come out at 8 am and they got the work done in one day!  They were phenomenal!  They cleaned up very well and I was just very impressed with the whole experience.  This was the first time I had used them, and I would use them again in the future as well as recommend them to others.

Metro Gutter And Home Services Inc
It was an Angie's List Big Deal that I purchased. It went well. I spent an additional $50. They did a good job. It was done in a timely manner. The price was a little bit high for one gutter. It took a little while for them to come. They came out and started the job and quit. They had to go pick something up and then they came back again.

    Callahan Painting & Home Improvements
When the neighbors dead tree fell on my garage, it left holes and tore the gutter on one side. Jim Callahan replaced the entire roof so it would match and replaced both runs of gutters too. All for the price the insurance said it would pay. The work looks beautiful. He went to additional trouble to match trim that needed replacing as well. He and his crew were courteous and competent. The job was completed without leaving a mess and on schedule. On a separate occasion, I also had Mr Callahan paint the front of my house, which was an embarrassment to the neighborhood. This work was also completed without fuss or mess by a courteous team. The change was so impressive I have had family and friends drive past my house because it looks so different. I would definitely recommend Callahan Painting to others.

While replacing the gutters, I was informed of a potential problem due to garage roof shingles that weren't installed low enough on the roof. There could be ice backup that could harm the wood. We could leave it alone or they could apply the drip edge. There was no pressure or hard sales pitches to purchase the drip edge. I had them install it (we get a lot of snow and ice). They had to contend with a very large old tree behind the garage that was actually touching the gutters. They did a great job, quality products, quality workmanship. They cleaned up after themselves (I didn't have to pick up one thing). I was informed about a severely cracked crock, how to replace it and where I could purchase it.

I have a tall house and they also did a separate 2.5 stall garage. They had to use a second floor ladder and they did not disturb the flowers or anything else on the ground below them. They cleaned up well and didn't leave anything on the ground.
