    Home Instead Senior Care
My mother is still using the Cary Home Instead services; they have been WONDERFUL from start to finish, from the front office to the financial end, to the actual caregiver. Rebecca spent HOURS talking to us in order to match up the best possible caregiver. Caregiver is punctual, polite, cheerful, compassionate, and honest....pretty much everything we were looking for. It's a scary thing to entrust your elderly parents to someone else. Dementia is difficult to deal with. I would recommend this company in a heartbeat. Extremely professional. Their minimum services are now at 3 (half days) per week, which gets expensive, but seems to be par for the course around here. Nothing but good to say about them!

    Ameriglide Inc.
I purchased 2 Ameriglide stair lifts before my wife had surgery. We live in a tri level home so I had to have 2 lifts. I researched stair lifts both locally and on the Internet and after speaking to more than 3 providers I decided that the Ameriglide lifts would be the best for our needs. The salesman was very helpful and was well informed about the product. With the information Ameriglide sent to measure the stairs the process was easy and the units fit exactly right. I chose the 120 volt model since I have a whole house generator and didn't want to have to deal with batteries. The lifts arrived earlier than estimated and were fairly simple to install. It took me nearly 4 hours to install the 1st lift and less than 2 hours for the 2nd one. It takes 2 people to install the chair and motor but with just an electric drill and driver and common hand tools it was very straight toward. We have been very happy and satisfied with Ameriglide and would recommend them to anyone who wants to install their own lift.

    GENESIS HOMECARE
Initially, mother only had physcial therapy, occupational therapy was added later.   The agency has a process where a licensed physical  therapist evaluates the patient and then sends assistants to do the actual therapy. The same occurs with occupational therapy department.  Upon mothers first visits with both therapies the licensed person was helping from out of town (over one hour away).  The staff both permanent and helping staff both reported there has been a problem with enough help for the agency.  Overall, all of the therapists sent to the home were excellent, proficient in their work, and offered ways for mother and I to continue therapy once they had left.  We never received a bill as the agency did all of the pre-certification and billing needed for therapies.  Once the therapies were started we were happy, but the office handling calls and questions seemed uninterested in our concerns, provided misinformation, and at times left mother and myself feeling  like our issues weren't there problems.  We repeatedly asked for a physical therapist that had seen mother a few times, before she had a hospitalization, that never happened, and sometimes the therapists did not call to arrange a visit time, or tried to arrange therapy in the morning although my mother repeatedly requested afternoon therapy.  The therapy was done well, but it seems like behind the scenes this agency has issues with intra-staff communication, staffing issues, and the ability of the office staff to be concerned of the questions of their customers.  Did I mention none of the therapists seemed to like the computer system the agency was using?  I do have to admit that at times it seemed more important for the staff to enter computer information on my mother than it did did to do her actual therapy.  This did not always happen, but when it did I often wondered how they would really know how my mom was doing with her therapy because they were too busy placing notes in handheld devices.  This left me, or her, responsible for counting the number of repetitions on the exercises she was completing.  I wonder who was watching her form?

The aides were good people that were well trained to accomidate the elderly in all aspects. They came into the home and offered exceptional service that included feeding, meal preparation and home maintenance to support a bed ridden patient
