Greg and team did a great job working with us getting logistics worked out to get the carpet installed. The team was very courteous and clean and we came home from vacation to brand new carpet which was exciting! The team as a whole were very respectful, honest, and helpful along the way.

    McSwain Carpets & Floors
I have used McSwain for 4 jobs in the past four years. They installed new carpet in all my bedrooms and the hallway. The carpets installation went well. I also had them install laminate flooring in my living room and dining room. There have been multiple issues with this flooring and it was difficult to get repairs. The flooring has bubbled in several places. When I called I was told a supervisor would have to come out and look at it and was only available on a certain day in my area. I scheduled an appointment two weeks out and had to take a day off of work. A supervisor did not show up - one of the installers showed up. He was in my home for less than 10 minutes and took about 4 photos on his cell phone. I never received follow up. I called an explained my frustration about not having a supervisor do the inspection. I was simply told it was not a warranty job and given a quote for repair. I expressed my concern about the accuracy of a quote given the limited amount of time the installer was in my home to inspect the job. I received no call back from a supervisor for over 4 weeks. I repeatedly talked to the customer service representative who even reached out to his supervisor. I never received an explanation as to why the supervisor did not show up for the appointment. I finally called Costco customer service as I ordered the flooring through Costco. I received a call from Dean Wright within 30 minutes of the phone call. Dean did come out and offer explanations on the flooring and was very nice. The problem is I have spent well over $10,000 with this company over the past four years and was treated very poorly when there was a problem. Dean provided me with a quote to install new flooring. I reached back out to McSwain through Costco when I noticed the flooring was being promoted as on sale. The salesman told me they would honor Dean's price because the cost of the flooring had gone up (even though it was listed as 30% off on the website). They have lost my business forever.

Home Based Carpet & Flooring LLC
This is a family-owned business, and when the owner, Greg, says that they treat you like family, he means it (in a good way!). I called them, saying that I needed the older foyer flooring taken up, as well as the ancient builders' carpet in the living and dining rooms, and said carpet removed from by daughter's room because of her allergies. Oh, and I had only a four-week timeline. Greg, his wife, and his son were here within two days, measuring and helping me choose flooring. We eventually went with a high-quality yet budget-friendly Appalachian hardwood downstairs, and an attractive laminate upstairs (it matched two other bedrooms). His wife discussed colors with me, and we went into detail about what made sense with our dog, the wood furniture and doors, our children, front door use, etc. As far as the actual installation, I was impressed by Ron and his crew. They pay attention to detail, and the work is done right. Unlike a previous installer we had, they didn't just leave the baseboards, put the flooring down, and put quarter-round around the rooms. Instead, they removed the baseboards, installed the flooring to the wall, and then renailed the baseboards on top of the floor. The difference? The flooring looks like it was always there, and the entire baseboard is visible instead of just half of it -- a MUCH better look! They also took the time to make sure that the baseboards near the stairs were recut to match up with the stair trim (as they were now 3/4" higher than before). The whole thing (three rooms and an awkward foyer with lots of jigsawing) took only two days. When I called Greg to mention that one of the doors wasn't closing completely, he immediately sent someone to fix it. When I texted Greg on a Sunday in the throes of indecision, unsure if the flooring his son delivered was really the color I wanted, he and his wife Judy were here within a couple of hours, pulling out planks and trying several of them against my furniture, the doors, etc., to help me feel confident in my choice. I highly recommend this company. They are professional, caring, very skilled at what they do, and customer-centric. What's more, they don't try to sell you their highest-priced product, but rather the best product for you.

    Neal's Design Remodel
My husband and I recently completed a six month whole house renovation using Neal's Design Remodel. I can't say enough good things about them. I was looking for a company that could handle a complete house remodel from start to finish. I read many online reviews for Neal's and was pleasantly surprised to find that some of the people had used them for more than one project. The nice thing about Neal's is that you only deal with three main people throughout your whole project. Our first contact was with Frank Kuhlmeier, he was our Project consultant. Frank was very professional, gave us a complete description of the services Neal's offers and described how they handle a project from start to finish. We were also very pleased to find out they offer a full two year warranty on their work. Frank handled working up the design details and the quote for the cost of the project. Once we signed on with Neal's they even provided an architect and engineer to work out some issues during the planning stage of the project. After the project began we were introduced to our Lead Designer Connie Hampton. She came to our house to look things over and get an idea of kind of look we were going for. My husband and I are not designers, so it was great that Neal's provides a designer to help you accomplish the look you had in mind. They even have their own design studio with all the tile and flooring samples you need in one place. Connie was great at showing us all of our options and helping us make our decisions, always keeping our budget in mind. The last person assigned to us was Drew Schroeder. Drew was our Project Manager. He did a fantastic job handling the day to day operations of the renovation. He provided weekly schedules of who would be working on the house and what was being worked on. He handled the scheduling of all the different trades people that worked on the project. He was also the person that answered all of my questions or concerns as the project moved along. Drew was somewhat of a perfectionist as am I, so he really paid attention to the details in the finishing work, which I greatly appreciated. Frank and Drew were also very accommodating to our ever changing list of additions to the project. Frank and Drew never avoided a phone call or text and always replied in a timely manner. In the end we ended up with a beautiful renovation. The quality of materials and workmanship is fantastic. Everyone who worked on our project did an excellent job. They pay very close attention to the details. Overall Neal's was great to work with and provided an excellent result. This is the only project we have done over the years where the result exceeded our expectations. Neals is definitely worth the investment, we would highly recommend them.

    MK Remodeling and Design
Fantastic! The owner assigned one worker to complete the project. Dan was polite, punctual, repectful and cleaned up the area every day. He focused on doing the job right, and made us feel as if he were working on a project in his own home. Cant say enough good things about MK Remodeling. Would definitely use again, and recommend to friends and neighbors without reservation.

    Van Stein Construction
Really well. The bathrooms look amazing! The crew was always on time, kept a clean worksite every day and were very nice and easy to work with. We had a couple communication issues, which were worked out with no problem. (I would recommend a digital or physical job board that has all the information On it so that nothing falls through the cracks.) Van has come back to the house to repair a few cracks that were created during the demolition process that we didnt notice until they finished the job. As he says, satisfaction guaranteed and we were very satisfied! We would hire them again and would recommend them to friends too.

Weickert's flooring team of Calvin and Brian were prompt, professional and polite. They moved along quickly, were cognizant of our concerns and the daily schedule at home, so kept out of the way as much as possible. This enabled us to use all our appliances with very little interruption. During install, they even looked for boards that were especially nice to look at (floor was hickory, so had different looks), asked us if we liked them and placed them in high traffic areas. A few days later, we noticed a board had split so called them back. The guys came back out and replaced the board quickly and smoothly. Any future flooring I have done will be with Weickerts!

    Design Elements
We have been pleased with Suzanne's taste and ideas, and have used her company to complete the work a number of times when we decided not to do it ourselves. Suzanne is very thorough, has great attention to detail, and her fees are reasonable. We intend to use her again in the future. She is patient and responsive, and well in tune with today's styling trends.

My 84-year old mother-in-law didn't like the original contractor we, as the homeowner, had selected, so she tried to find one on her own. She selected Chris because he was charming with her and she felt she could "relate" to him. After giving him a deposit to start work on the project, he basically disappeared for over 10 days and didn't return any phone calls or emails. So we decided to do some research on him, and found very scathing,, about others' experiences with him. I wish we had researched him more in depth before my mother-in-law gave him money. Others have stated he has a history of coming up with a story to explain his absences and lack of response to calls and emails, and for not completing a job as promised. When he did perform a job, a lot of others stated there was poor quality and additional costs. He also seems to me that he changes addresses and moves his company around. His current address (with the same phone number) is now listed in Lebanon, not Harrison. With this information, and due to his lack of response to our calls, we decided to terminate the agreement, especially since we as the homeowners never agreed nor signed anything with him - it was just with my mother-in-law. He soon after responded with a story about how he had been called away on an emergency in Florida and someone else in his company was supposed to handle things but didn't. He promised to return my mother-in-law's deposit to her since no work had been performed, not even applying for permit (which he outright lied about having done). To date, the money has not been returned. The other reviews on him and his company are pretty accurate...I would not recommend hiring him. I cannot personally vouch for the quality of his work since he didn't do anything. But ethically, he gets an F in my book. I believe he has no business even being listed on Angie's List.
