    The Basement Guys - Cleveland
At first, I had a little sticker shock (HomeAdvisor does bad estimates) but after shopping a bit I realized that any difference in price was fairly minor. Once I factored in the type of materials used in order to avoid the possibility of mold in the future and the company's reputation, I was sold. Ended up finishing 670 sqft of basement ($55/sqft) Taking the pre-plumbed half-bath and turning it into a full bath Walling off an office with french doors We opted not to paint simply because we're so far away and I can just hire a painter locally And they created a framing-hole for me to mount my pachinko machine in the wall. We went with waterproof vinyl laminate floors that look like a darkish wood, carpet on the steps, drop ceilings and recessed lighting that I was initially concerned would inefficiently light the area and create a "spotlight" effect on the floor. You can see from the photos that I was wrong. They covered the breaker box with trimmed piece of drywall on magnets and it looks like the perfect place to put a movie poster or something and a thin sheet of plexiglass to make it look like it's just a framed wall hanging. The work was done professionally and surprisingly quick, framing was almost completely done after the first day of work. They did a lot of the work while nobody was home which made me and my wife super nervous at first but we set up a camera and after a few days stopped reviewing the footage because they come in, they work, they clean up. Honestly felt a little bad for being that paranoid but my work relates to security so it's been drilled into me not to trust anyone. I only mention it here so that others can know that they were watched with an absurd level of caution and passed with flying colors. I bought doughnuts on the last day. I found that my emails were replied to the same day as they were sent and once the job foreman contacted me and gave me his info I was able to call or text if anything came up. The biggest delay in the whole process was getting permits because the City of Lorain was operating at government speed when it came to sending out inspectors and keeping track of paperwork. Basement turned out great and required very little action from me once all the design decisions were made. If I moved and needed to finish another basement I'd use them again. I would also recommend them to friends and family looking to have work done. 10/10 Would Basement Again

    The Basement Guys - Cleveland
We had such a great experience using them in our previous home, we knew we wanted them back for our new home. Professional and no pressure process. They worked to get our project into our budget and gave a product we loved. They did a month's worth of work in three days and it was great. We definitely recommend.

The whole process was amazing from start to finish. I was really dreading it all---the mess, the noise, the inconvenience, the inevitable delays I had heard about from family and friends who have done large renovations. But of, of course, I wanted the finished product! I obtained bids from 3 companies. Ohio Basements was right in the middle, price-wise. But what convinced me was the respect for my ideas yet the wisdom to let me know when something could be done a better way or using better materials. Unlike one of the other companies, they didn't resort to any high pressure pitches nor did they put down any other companies I might contact, or try to sell a particular product. They explained in understandable detail the reasoning behind their recommendations. They estimated 6 to 8 weeks to complete the job and it was 9. They had explained the kinds of delays that might be unavoidable (relating to availability of supplies and of inspectors at various stages and they agreed that they would balance other jobs such that they did not become the problem. The week of Thanksgiving accounts for the extra week--very little work done then. I received regular emails with updates and any questions they had for me. They always told me who would be coming (by name and profession) and what days/times to expect them. They were on time and I was totally able to keep up with my volunteer commitments and plans with friends. Never for one moment did I feel uncomfortable having them in my house when I was not at home and they all made friends with my beagle, Lilly. All of the men took great care not to damage the floors or walls as they came and went with all of their building supplies and equipment and dirty shoes---changed them or used shoe covers or put down drapes. There was a significant challenge getting everything down to the basement as there is no basement level exit/entry and the staircase is unusually steep. Finally, all of the framing, insulating, electrical and plumbing inspections were passed the first time around. I love the results and can't wait to move in my furniture next week. I would tell anyone wanting to finish a basement that they should go with these guys with complete confidence. I understand they do wonderful cabinetry and I have hope that I can benefit from their work in that regard once my budget permits. My friends and family who have done remodeling in their homes are envious of the fact that I don't have a single horror story to tell. Chip, Nick and Mike are the hardest working guys you will meet and clearly take pride in their work. I don't have a single complaint regarding any of the others they hired. On my word, I am not related to nor friends with anyone affiliated with this company or those with whom they subcontract. They did not offer me any discount for this review. They are just GOOD! The only thing they could have done that they didn't was give me round-trip air fare to Florida and a 9-week free stay at a Disney hotel for the duration of the project.

    Hoover General Contractors
Dennis, the owner, of Hoover General Contractors was very professional and punctual. He did an amazing job building a deck next to our pool. The deck took about five days to build and every night before they left, the work area was cleaned. The deck is very well constructed and we couldn't be happier. We would definitely use Hoover General Contractors again.
