DESCRIPTION OF WORK
Took my cat in with urinary blockage on a Friday morning; was told they would call me in a couple of hours and they did--they were unsuccessful with the catherization and I was told that they would call me on Monday morning and let me know what was going on and I replied that I would be back in there that afternoon. (When I have to leave animals at the vets I visit them daily to see the pet and to see what kind of care is being done.) Well when I showed up at 4:30 Dr. Wood had a less than thrilled attitude that I came back and wanted to know what the status of my animal; no one had done anything with my animal because Dr. hudson had left for the afternoon and was not coming back in until Saturday--so Dr. wood had to try to cath the cat in front of me like a "show" to make it look like they "tried".Well I left and I had the sickest feeling I ever had that I just knew this was not going to be good results. The next morning I was there an hour before they opened waiting and I had planned to collect my cat and go else where. Dr. Hudson just that morning had done x-ray and blood test and showed not good; he had stones and had to be put down. Here is why I am displeased with them 1. I came in there with an emegency x-rays and tests should have been done asap, not the next day. If they did not have the time to deal with it just tell the person and they can choose to go elsewhere. The out come may have been different or the same, but I would have at leased known someone tried and critical time would not have been wasted for the treatment. They would rather run 15 people though in an hour than deal with one sick animal. I have been going there a couple years, but this was my first emergency situation; I never liked how they are in such a hurry--they will not stop and listen to any questions or concerns it is all about grab and go with them-do not slow them down they have to get as many as they can in and out the door in an hour. Both vets are not friendly at all.

I got Bubby when he was 5 weeks old that was 13 years ago... This was where I took him for care...for over 11 years..but at his weakest point this office of so called compassionate employees and medical personal..failed him and myself. ...Bubby was an Akita and 100 pounds. Monday he could not stand up..I knew it was his time. I just wanted him to be comfortable. I called the Lorain animal clinic to see if the vet could come to my home and see bubby..They said they would call me back...I waited and waited...(Now mind you..I have always paid my bill and brought my animals to this clinic..$ couple thousand $ worth)..I finally called back ..well Dr woods is out of town and Dr Hudson was too busy after hours.. so they would call me first thing tues morning...well no call so I called and the girl who took my info the day before called off sick and there was nothing documented about Bubby..so went over the story again...they said they would call back...they never called and still haven't called. There was no compassion, no professionalism .I contacted another local vet who had never seen my pet...he cancelled appts just to provide for Bubby...

Do take your cat in a carrier or your dog on a leash.Be prepared to tell the receptionist what the problem is. She's the first line of contact. She'll escalate any emergency situation.Do feel free to call and ask questions before you go. It can help a lot.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK
I have been using this veterinary office for the last 45+ years, from when Dr. Wood's father ran the practice from a much smaller building. I know some people don't like to wait, but my favorite part about the practice is that I don't need to make an appointment. I can just show up when I have time. I am a busy person, and making and keeping pet appointments is difficult. I would be cancelling and rescheduling repeatedly. I have 3 kids, 6 cats, 2 dogs, and 2 horses, so pet emergencies are not terribly unusual. In a true after-hours emergency, I take the animals to the emergency clinic, and then when they close in the morning, I transfer the pet to the Lorain Animal Clinic. I have called ahead to tell them what's happening, and they have met me at the door to allow me to transfer my pet before they are officially open for the day. There is more than an hour between the closing time of the overnight emergency clinic and the opening of the Lorain Animal Clinic. They've always been wonderful about it. They are very caring and have helped me through numerous pet losses, always sending me a sympathy card and telling me that there has been a donation in memory of my pet to their charity. They do lots of community work and handle a lot of the stray animals in the area. I have never had to wait more than about 20 minutes to see someone, and usually it's much less than that. Dr. Wood and Dr. Hudson are both excellent. Dr. Hudson is a bit more personable than Dr. Wood, but Dr. Wood will give you all the information you need if you ask. The office help all know me and address me by name when I walk in the door. I will continue to use them as long as they remain in business and keep the "no appointment needed" policy. They do make appointments for surgeries and for boarding. They do send out reminders for updates on shots or periodic procedures, so that you can keep your pet on schedule. They do allow you to put up posters about lost animals or animals looking for homes. They do give multi-animal discounts. If you take several in at the same time, they charge one office call, plus whatever else they do, rather than multiple office call charges.
