I wish I would have done more research before, but I was desperate because my house was creeping up over 80 degrees and condensation was building up on my furnace unit. I didn't know who to go with so I used Home Depot to set up my appointment. Overall, the people were nice and prompt, but the cost is just outright criminal. It cost $100 to show up, the technician checked the coolant and said it was about a pound low, and that the coolant was $180 a pound (really!!, because if you look online it's less than $20 a pound for r-22 refrigerant). So he put the coolant in and we went inside to check the vents and sure enough it was cold. He then said lets go down and check the coil because there might be a leak. He did the check and said there is likely a leak but couldn't quite pinpoint the spot. He quoted the coil to be replaced at $2299 (can coils not be patched or repaired?). Anyways, we went back up stairs and I was expecting to pay $280 but then apparently it was $140 for him to go in my basement for 5 minutes and wave a beeping wand around my coil. All in all, the technician was at my house for 40 minutes, refilled my coolant, and it cost $420, still scratching my head.

I didn't know they'd only honor the coupon for working systems. They'd charge an additional $40 to come check on what needs to be done to repair the unit. They soonest they could get there was over two weeks away. I contacted another company for service.

    Kessler Heating & Cooling
Our furnace went out, and by the time I realized the temperature in the house had dropped to 52 degrees at 8:30 am. I called Kessler after researching reviews on here. I called them a little after 9 am, and I was pleasantly surprised that someone could be out in an hour-hour and a half. Based on the time-frame,I chose to wait with my 4 kids (7, 4,3, and 1) in the house. However the technician did not arrive until 11:40 (and didn't come to the door until 11:50). I would have appreciated a call when the technitian was on his way. In all other respects, the technitian was professional, courteous, and answered all my questions besides volunteering things I can look for in the future.

What kind of service takes messages, assures customers that it will be taken care of and then fails to transfer an a.s.a.p. message? A Lousy Service! By stating that wed use this service again, does not mean that wed recommend them. We really dont have much of a choice here, due to the Warranty issue with our newly built home. But if you have a choice when you go to build, I would say, try some other company.
