    Vilardo's Complete Masonry
So impressed with the excellent work done to repair the brick wall at the entrance to our subdivision. Original construction was poorly done. Severe damage had occurred with many broken and missing bricks. The shabby entrance made the whole neighborhood feel rundown. Enter Vilardos. Not only was Vilardos the lowest quote we received, they were by far the most responsive company we spoke to. They reached out the day after quote was sent to see if we had any additional questions or concerns. I was very impressed. Their responsiveness made me feel like they really wanted my business and that they were going to be very dedicated to the job. Work experience was excellent. As scheduled, timely, and professional. Quality was excellent. The entire top layer of our entrance wall was deconstructed. Good bricks were cleaned to reinstall across the front of wall so there would be no mismatch in the brick style or color. Over 500 new brick were used in rebuilding the layer. Great idea from Vilardos on how to handle the repair. The wall looks like new, colors match perfect (because only original brick appear on face), and the top is all sealed for winter (to prevent additional damage to the wall.) I highly recommend Vilardos for your next brick job.

Mid Valley Chimney Repair & Sweep
Matt and his team did an outstanding job at rebuilding our 2 very large chimneys. It was a complete tear down to the roof line. He was able to match the brick perfectly and added the type of cap we wanted. His team was punctual, friendly and easy to work with. He is the only contractor I have had that kept me abreast of potential weather delays. You always knew a day ahead if his team was going to show up or not. During some rain delays I hired Mid-Valley to do some interior brick work, which they readily accommodated and at an extremely fair price. Mid-Valley's work was so good and below what I estimated (based on previous estimates), I purchased from Mid-Valley, and had them install, a wood burning insert. You can't go wrong with Mid-Valley for any masonry work. I will have them back when we progress to other brick, stone or block projects.

    M Squared Construction Company
It went very smooth. I obtained the estimate early in the spring and we had to wait until the fall to pour the concrete. I was very impressed with the work. Very clean and they even sewed grass and put down straw where they took up grass to pour the sidewalk and apron.

From the phone calls to the estimator to the crew supervisor - everyone was very professional.  The job did get delayed once started, but only by a day or two, and since it was outside the home, did not impact us.  They did a great job, and we asked them back to fix gutters - also done very well.  They impressed me with their professionalism, and they met competitors quotes too.  All in all, very impressed, and they will certainly do work for us again.

    Outdoor Design Build LLC

We love our new patio.  It transformed our backyard.  We heard about David Underhill and Outdoor Design Build from a friend of a friend.  We saw the patio they built and when we met David decided to go with his company.

As we sat down and talked to Gayle, she designed almost the exact patio we wanted.  With a few changes we had the perfect design.  It was fun and interesting to watch Gayle create a great drawing while she talked with us and asked questions.

We had 2 very large trees removed.  And the existing deck taken down.

Manuel and his crew then built the patio, walls, fire pit and built in grill.  All the guys were very nice and when we wanted to make a change during the construction they did so with no problems.  Some of the crew even showed up and worked in the rain under an umbrella.

Now we have a beautiful patio, fire pit and new built in grill with landscaping surrounding it.  We are confident that if any problems arise with any of it, David will take care of it.  He is very easy to work with and always made us feel that our patio was the most important job they were working on.  We would recommend this company to anyone wanting a new patio.

Mid Valley Chimney Repair & Sweep
I had a couple of concerns which I discussed with the owner around the existing gas line. He was confident he could complete the job without issue, and he and his team did just, in ONE DAY. He was very professional, patient with my nervousness, and even worked with me on a saturday after the job was complete to help answer some follow up questions I had about the system. Overall, I got a better quality stove than the other bids I received, for less money. I couldn't be happier.

    Josh Tirey Roofing
I was in the market for some chimney repair and had been shopping pretty hard, I was also looking to get my roof done since the chimney repair was going to damage a lot of my roof being rebuilt. I had planned to do the gutters myself, but was asking each contractor for a quote just so I'd have it.

I received lots of quote, and Josh Tirey came in about 30% higher than some of the others but he was also the only and quot;full serviceand quot; contractor I had spoken to. Everyone else either did roofs or chimneys, not both. I asked Josh why he was so much more expensive because I like to give contractors a chance to explain their pricing, justify it, and make sure I'm comparing to bids and quot;apples to applesand quot; so to speak.

After listening to Josh explain why his bid was higher and actually going and looking at job's he did as well as jobs some of the other contractors did, I quickly saw that the extra money was for the quality of service Josh Tirey provided. A few examples include: soldering of all flashing joints for a permanent solution versus caulking which can wear out and needs maintained; a different type of crown on the chimney (called a reveal crown); forming flashings in such a way that water runs into gutters and not down chimney face; installing a ridge behind the chimney to prevent water buildup behind it, and many other small details.

When I asked other contractors about these types of things, they all agreed that they are good things and said they could do them (for more money). What bothered me about this was that they didn't ever mention these items themselves. It was as if they would prefer to just and quot;get the joband quot; and didn't care whether it was done the best it could be or not. Josh, on the other hand, didn't want to the job if he wasn't doing it the best.

In the end I went with Josh Tirey. Both his roofing and chimney crew were very professional and courteous. They brought dump trucks with them each day to the house and loaded their debris so that I didn't have an ugly dumpster sitting at my home all week. Everything was done with care and I honestly never found a single roofing nail on the ground after they left.

His roofing crew did leave a little bit of material and scrap at my house when they were done, but as soon as I mentioned it to Josh he brought his crew back out to retrieve them and apologized for the oversight.

Overall, I am extremely satisfied with the jobs Josh Tirey completed for me and would definitely recommend him.

Bone Dry Roofing & Masonry - Cincinnati
The project started Oct 2013 and finished July 2014. There were 3 revisions. A type of epoxy glue was used and within a wk some of the bricks were loose. Then they were reglued. We had further problems with loosening. Then they started from scratch and rebuilt it with mortar. The surfaces were uneven so they redid it yet again. This time they used some poor quality gray bricks and mixed them in with our red bricks. Surfaces were better but still not flush. Each time we called about our concerns the company was timely in sending out someone to examine the work. But each time we were dealing with a different individual. The company did credit us $100 on our last bill. I would say this company is very professional, courteous and good with cleanup. I chose them from all the great reviews on Angies List. In my experience, the workmanship on this single project was poor.  Along with my last check I did enclose a letter telling them what I  would be writing in this review.

The workers and work performed were good.  Unfortunately the rest was not. I originally purchased a deal for a complete landscape evaluation as we have recently moved into a 90 year old home with neglected yard work.  Wes came out and we walked the property with Wes identifying some of our issues and offering suggestions.  During our discussion, I pointed out the brickwork needing repair and was pleasantly surprised to learn they could handle that as well. Wes then wrote out a proposal separating the work into five sections.  I booked with Wes on the spot for the brickwork and he said he would be in touch to schedule exact dates 2-3 weeks hence.

Two weeks later, when I had not yet heard from Wes, I wrote to him to say I would be out of town during a certain time and wanted the work scheduled to be done after my trip while I would be home. During my trip, I received a phone call from my wife asking why the front walk was a mess.  I emailed Wes to ask why the work was being done that day when I had clearly provided the dates I would be home and asked the status of the work hoping there was more to do.  Wes replied actually arguing I was wrong, his crew was there on the dates we spoke of, he "remembered our conversation clearly".  We never had such a conversation and I forwarded him my previous written communication regarding the dates.  The workers returned the following day and finished the job.

Unfortunately, I misunderstood Wes' verbal quote of $60/hour and did not carefully read the proposal to see it was actually $120/hour ($60 per hour per man), my mistake.  Had I understood I would actually be charged double what I expected, I would not have booked the job as I personally do not believe landscape labor to be worth such a premium price!

He removed a stone ledge that had been incorrectly installed and was acting as a water trough next to our window and installed a new one correctly.  He may take a while to start the job, but he is well worth the wait.  There is a reason why he is that busy.  Based on where/how we live and the repair work that we needed to have done, he could have conceivably charged us a lot more and I was pleasantly surprised by how little the repairs cost.
