AElite Home Remodeling IncWe worked with Elite with our recent Kitchen remodel. Amber was super helpful with bringing our vision to life. This was a major remodel with knocking down walls and opening up our living room to our kitchen. It was very comforting knowing everything was taken care of, including all the permits. We could not be more pleased with how it turned out!- jerry c.

AElite Home Remodeling IncMy husband and I have wanted to remodel our kitchen for around 15 years. Elite Home Remodeling was recommended by a neighborhood friend. The showroom examples, various style options, expert advise and excellent communication Kody offered from the onset made this an enjoyable experience. The craftsmanship of our cabinets is exquisite; the ability to customize made our kitchen showroom quality. I appreciated always having the same two men working on our project — answering questions with patience and care. The versatility of skills Nic S. wields is impressive. We were very appreciative of the attention to detail Nic and Bill showed from beginning to end... A+ work!- Alisa B.

ASimple Bath & Simple KitchenFive years after moving into our house we were finally ready to update our house's full bathroom. The bathroom design and fixtures were (from what we believe to be) last updated from the early 90s. A pedestal sink and clawfoot tub (converted to a shower) were a couple of the features that just did not fit our needs. The bathroom's footprint is quite small (just 6ft x 7.75ft) and afforded no built-in storage. So for a remodel we knew what was on our need-to-have list. Our goal was to convert the tub to a real shower and replace the pedestal sink with a cabinet that would give us more storage and maximize the available space. We had received quotes from remodelers that led us to believe that we would have to go down the route of having to do a custom build/remodel. The fixtures and custom finishes of these proposals were very nice but the price (in our mind) for such a small space were out of our budget. We were also told a remodel could take a month to complete. Being without our only full bathroom for that long just didn't seem realistic. So after searching online for other options we came across Simple Bath. Shawn Barral, our design consultant, showed that we could achieve our goal without going down the expensive & lengthy custom build/remodel route. The design, fixtures, & components they proposed allowed for cost and installation-time savings. These advantages ultimately fit our goal. Going through the process from preliminary design, fixture & finish selection, measurement, demolition, and installation all went very smooth. Our installers, Justin & Hunter, were tasked with (in my opinion) unenviable job of demolition which included removal of a very heavy cast-iron tub and very dusty & dirty work associated with plaster & lathe walls. They also persevered through the challenges of working with an old home which included unleveled floors and out of plumb walls in addition to a very tight workspace. At the end of each work day the worksite was clean and tidy, which was something that is often overlooked during a remodel. By the end of the work week, the installation finished right on time with incredible results. It was an incredible transformation that happened so quickly and so smoothly. Our new bathroom is so much more presentable and vastly more usable.- Ryan V.

AThe Granite GuyWe worked with Brad McColly, and he was wonderful. What we liked was his information about the browsing process, his no-harassment follow-up, he answered all our questions, and worked with us the whole time. He is very timely on his email communications. The Granite Guy offers the best price in town. The price on the slab in the show room includes EVERYTHING except tax. If we ever have granite needs for our house again, we will be returning to Brad and The Granite Guy.- Cheryl M.

ACustom Home WorksWe contracted with Custom Home Works for a complete downstairs renovation and couldn’t be more pleased with the results. From design assistance to craftsmanship to simply being nice people to work with, Bill and Dave met every, and exceeded many, expectation. That is a rare thing. We were so impressed with their professionalism, that months later when a malfunctioning shower began causing problems in a different part of the house, we immediately calls CHW. They responded quickly, fixed the immediate issue and then renovated the bathroom with the same level of professionalism and kindness they put in to the downstairs area. You could hire someone else. But we wouldn’t recommend doing that.- Maureen M.

ACarifaTileFantastic! Much of my project was DIY but I ran out of to,e to complete the job and, frankly, when it came to it I lacked confidence in my ability to do the tile work. I contacted Carifa Tile via Angie’s but had also learned about them from a friend who recommended them to me. From the start, they were very helpful in helping me realize my vision. They took over the project by finishing up the waterproofing and improving my shower pan design. Everyone who I dealt with was very good at listening to me and being careful to understand what I wanted and creative in their advice for how to realize the plan. They worked efficiently but carefully throughout the project. All the while they were very conscientious and unobtrusive as we were working from home and home schooling small young children because of the pandemic. They were neat and considerate of the home. Never leaving a mess. And, most importantly, the bathroom looks fantastic! Carifa is a great tile company to work with. I highly recommend them.- John R.

A614 Design and RemodelMichael performed a full remodel of our master bathroom and we couldn't be more happier with the results. I would like to provide as comprehensive review as possible from our first interaction until job completion: First Interaction - January 2020 My wife and I bought our house in 2017. Our house was built in 2013. The prior owners had a septic issue that caused $25k of damage in the Master Bath right before we purchased. While the prior owners rehabbed the damage, it was poorly finished. Thus, we knew we had to fix the poor construction. In January 2020, my wife pursued several referrals from friends to hire for this job. It felt like dating as each contractor came with their own issues. Too expensive, not engaged, not responsive. This led my wife to research options on Angie's List. She contacted Michael and received a very quick response to come out for a quote. On Michael's first visit, we were sold with Michael's approach. He was very direct and transparent with his approach, his remodeling philosophy and his timeline. Ultimately, we received two comparable bids; Michaels and someone else. We selected Michael because he was more responsive, was equally excited to work on our project and simply, easy to work with. We selected Michael in January; paid our deposit and were advised of a ball park start date of June 2020. Pre Project Planning Between the time when we selected 614 Design (January 2020) until project go-live (June 2020), our world forever changed via COVID19. Michael was very responsive and transparent with providing updates to us on when his last project would finish and our project would launch. This was important to us as we worked from home and had the kids there during the early stages of the pandemic. This allowed us to plan appropriately while we had strangers in our house for the first time in 3 months. Michael was also upfront and strategic with planning expectations. Based on our remodeling plans, he provided us with a purchase item purchase list as well as recommended stores to select from. He also provided guidelines as to when each item had to be in the house to keep the project on-time. That was extremely helpful. The list was daunting and his guidelines helped my wife and I prioritize our selection process. Its not easy making all these selections :). Project Go-Live Michael hit his target go-live date. He arrived on a Monday and quoted roughly 30 days to complete the project. Our only other experience with a contractor was at our previous home with a basement finishing that took 6 months. We were leery of his 30 day quote. The project went quick as Michael projected, but I must say he did not sacrifice speed for quality. Michael was very thorough in his work. As he worked through the various stages of the project, he would constantly offer advice and feedback with this detail or that. Michael has a very consultative approach, meaning he provides options for us to choose from based on his experience. It helped us weigh the pros/cons of each decision. Project Completion Michael ended completing the project in 30 days as first projected. We were very happy not only with the timeline, but the quality of work. After the project completed and Michael moved onto the next, we noticed a slight filmy texture on the tile floor. We tried to clean it but it remained. We contacted Michael to inquire on a solution. He came out the next day and was able to remove it. That action spoke to not only the integrity of his company, but his dedication to quality. Recommendation In a world of so many contractors, it is tough to know you are making the proper contractor selection when choosing to remodel any part of your house. I recommend you include 614 Design and Remodel for any remodel project as part of the quoting process. While you should gather several quotes, I challenge you to balance your decision making process between both cost and the professional approach of each contractor. 614 Design and Remodel should stand out near the top if included in the quoting process!- Todd W.

F02/28/13 contract signed for $28,412.00. Tile floor was installed, absolutely terrible job. Several tiles were sticking up at the corners. Those tiles removed and replaced, still not right. 06/03/2013 Robert & Janet Harmon stopped by to look at the situation, it was determined that the entire floor had to come up and replace all tile. 06/22/14, three employees came by hammered and broke up the tile floor. Work began installing the new tile. As a side note: all of the thin set and backerboard from the original install was left and new thin set was put over top. The installer used levelers to make sure that all of the tiles were even. It worked. Now let's fast forward. 09/12/2017, we noticed a "popping" sound when we walked on the tile floor, one tile had four cracks across it, another had come completely loose. I went to see Robert Harmon, I showed him videos of the floor popping and tapping on it, it sounded hollow. Robert sent an employee to check it out, sure enough he said that they were coming loose. Robert did say that if we could find any of the tiles they would come and replace the few that were loose, the tile pattern had been discontinued. Robert also stated that he would not replace the entire floor. He did offer up a labor rate of $55.00 per hour to replace the floor. Granted, four years had passed before we noticed the popping and loose tiles. My wife and I are not large people, so the floor didn't get a lot of pressure put on it during that time. Now here we are at the end of 2020, I can go to 95% of the kitchen tiles and pull them completely up with little to no effort. The problem comes from putting two layers of thin set, then adding the levelers (which pulled the tiles away from the thin set). NOW I HAVE A $4,547.00 FLOOR THAT IS WORTHLESS DUE TO INEXPERIENCE AND POOR WORKMANSHIP. I HAVE PHOTO DOCUMENTATION TO SUPPORT MY CLAIM! THE THREE TILES THAT I LIFTED UP HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO THINSET ON THE BOTTOM SIDE, YOU CAN STILL SEE THE TROWL RIDGES INDICATING THAT THE TILE WAS NOT PROPERLY SET FROM THE BEGINNING.

ABill and his crew arrived every day when they said they would. They worked steadily in the heat to put vinyl siding on the main house and vinyl shingles on the front of the house and the gables. Bill has been doing this for a long time and he is particular. He redid a couple sections that he didn't like how they looked. The shutters didn't come in with the rest of the order and they had to come back several weeks later to install the shutters. The results look really good.

CMain concern was a leak in the shower pipe and tiles around the bath tub. Requested new pipes be installed. I don't believe that was done. Had to come fix twice, when it should have been the first thing fixed. After the bathroom was "done", had someone else come install new pipes and caulk around tub. Will still need to re-paint tub due to gouging from tiles taken down during fixes. A five day redo took 4 weeks - three days in hotel. We liked Jim and thought he would be the best based on his comments and price. Very disappointed in the bathtub area - the other areas look good.
