Handyman reviews in Lebanon

  • Very well -- I had been told by another contractor the gutter segments at the point of repair couldn't be replaced and would need entirely new gutters around the house. Jeff Tucker was able to repair what I had. He was responsive, courteous, and did good work (as near as I can tell -- I'm not a contractor).

  • I made an appointment for Zimax to come out and give me a bid to finish my basement. I also submitted our initial plans to maximize the time spent. I had an appointment window 8~8:30am. This was my day off and I had other plans for the remainder of the day. The employee didn't show up on time, nor call to indicate he would be late. When I reached out to the office later in the morning (after 9am), I was finally contacted back with an excuse/apology and he indicated he would be there in 15~20 minutes. He indicated there was an issue with water in the basement and he had to take care of that first. I was under the impression it was his personal basement and gave him the okay to still come out as I understand how that can go. An hour later he still wasn't there. I received a text that it would be later in the morning at about 11am. Again, I was more than patient because I understand what it's like to have these types of issues. He still didn't show up by 11am as indicated in the text. He then asked if he could come later in the day and I let him know he could come after 2pm but to call first to be sure I would be home as I had an appointment that could not be rescheduled. At this point, I was just trying to not reschedule to another day as it would not be possible. At 4:30, I called the office again and let them know that I still haven't heard from the estimator. She apologized, explained it was due to another customer's issue with water in the basement and said she would have him reach out again. He called and said he could be out at 6pm. He never showed. No one from the company ever followed up at that point. This is not how I would expect a company to behave that has such a high rating in both Angie's list and Home Advisors. 1. They should have called before they were going to be late. 2. They should have been up front about the actual issues at hand and not imply they were on their way when they were clearly not. 3. I should not have had to call them more than once. 4. The company should have followed up with me once I reached out the final time after 7:30pm to let them know he never showed. Bottom line: Considering the issue they were experiencing, I should have been contacted first thing in the morning and offered the option of rescheduling.

  • Since the time of the quote, it's been two weeks. I've contacted the service a couple of times since. I haven't heard anything from the service. The quote didn't have any kind of timeline associated with it.

  • Nathan was very knowledgeable. He reviewed the work that needed to be done with me before beginning. He did the work in the allotted amount of time. He was professional, courteous, and prompt. Nathan cut a hole through the interior wall of our basement through the brick exterior wall and hooked up the dryer vent for a clothes dryer we bought for the basement. This is the third time I have hired House Doctors Handyman of Mason and have had a great experience each time.

  • The garage door opener died and they determined that the gears were stripped so I purchased a new opener which they installed. We wanted a new front door which we ordered and they came and replaced the doors. They took out the bifold doors and while they were trying to install the door realized the door was 2 inches too short. They took the door back to the dealer and helped me order a prior door. The new door arrived a week later and they picked up the door and then completed the install. I was not charged for the work done until all the quoted work was completed even with the added delays. We are very happy with the work done.

  • DadsTasks came out for an estimate for all the work described.  The time they quoted to do the work was in excess of 8 hours labor.  I called to get clarification on what needed to be done that drove the time higher...was told the wall would have a piece cut out and replaced with drywall to fix the hole, the tiles would need similar repair to get any wet drywall out since that probably drove the reason they fell, the stair rail would need pieces of wood affixed to the wall to secure it in place the right way.

All was good...that made sense to me.  I mentioned I would buy the $499 for 8 hours of work coupon from Angies List and they could try to get all they could done in the 8 hours of work, if something was not completed in time I would pay for the extra hour(s).

The coupon was for either 1 person for 8 hours or 2 persons for 4 hours.  Again all was good.

Arrived on time and were very professional and polite....and work began.

Shortly into the work though I noticed that one of the workmen was following the other around the first was teaching him how to repair the wall and do tile work and cut out the door jam piece.  That was all this 2nd person did was watch the first person and help clean up.  I kept thinking I was missing something but every time I would check the 2nd person was just standing and watching.

The work was not done in the manner as described seems it was done to fit into the 4 hours they and established for themselves (keep in mind I paid for 2 persons to work at 4 hours each).  The hole was patched with a screen and plaster, the tiles were just re-glued back onto the drywall, the stair rail they just used extra long drywall screws to secure it.  Only the door jam was fixed how it was described to me.  Essentially all the work was done at a lower level to make it fit in the 4 hours...keep in mind I was told this would take over 8 hours and my coupon might not even cover the time it would take for the job.

I paid for 2 workers for 4 hours each for a total of 8 hours and received one worker for 4 hours and I paid for the 2nd person to be trained.

In my mind...I'm owed 4 more hours of work or half my money back.

I emailed the company and was told the owners would contact me....waited 4 days and emailed them that I had not been contacted.  They said they had been on vacation and would get back to me this date have not been contacted.

  • We had a leak in our basement and needed it repaired as quickly as possible. Shaun, came out on Wednesday and realized how urgent our problem needed to be resolved. He then worked on Saturday, and completed all the repairs. We are very happy with the work that Shaun of Kyle's Handyman service performed. They replaced our baseboard trim and repaired a cabinet in our basement. His work was very profession and cuts and corners were excellent. Good work I recommend them.

  • He did careful prep work including power washing, scraping, sanding, caulking, and priming surfaces, including metal lintels above windows and doors.  There was an oily stain in the concrete on the porch that I thought was permanent -- he got it clean.  He put down a beautiful paint job, and made sure all was cleaned up.  He took pride in his work.
The entire job was done within 6 days.

  • Handyman Doctors of Mason was so easy to work with. Amanda responds so promptly to emails and phone calls. The drywall work that was done was a three step process. Each time Daniel showed at the appropriate time and was very efficient at his job. Daniel was so professional and knowledgeable. I have already recommended him to two neighbors that want to get quotes.  He did an amazing job and stopped putting the trim up when he noticed a damaged spot from the packaging before he continued. He wanted to make sure it was ok with me. Believe me, we have hired alot of people from Angie's List but you guys have been the best thus far. Easy to work with, flexible and outstanding. Thank you for being a diamond in the rough.

  • The tacks on the original soffit was to widely spaced and there was no OSB board in place.  After taking down the damaged ceiling they noted that there was no room for an OSB board as this would require making changes all around the edges and require shifting the structural features as well.  They suggested adding 2x4's in between the current structure and this would allow tacking the new soffit with closer spacing which should prevent the damage from recurring.  They explained everything and made sure we understood the issue and the solutions before proceeding.
The original estimate was to do all the work in the span of a day and a half and the estimate was priced accordingly.  They were quite efficient and got the job done in one day.  The final invoice had the price reduced because of the half day that was not needed.
