    Advanced Concepts Inc
Very prompt to return my message! Came out the following day to give estimate. Gave me an estimate that was 2k less than previous estimate I had received. Worked around my schedule for installation. Roofers arrived at 7am, very hard working team. Left around 7pm with new roof installed, chimney cap installed and no mess! Gutters were installed the following day . All in all, Brian Thomas was very attentive to what I wanted done and made sure it was done with 100% satisfaction.

From the moment I met Pat Dodds until the final walk through, Pat and the entire Dodds Modern Living crew were professional, efficient, and highly skilled. The work was done in a timely manner and Pat personally kept me up to date on the progress of the work throughout. I am extremely pleased with all of the work that was done. Thank you Dodds Modern Living.

    Ohio Roofing Solutions
Overall Ohio Roofing Solutions was C level. The gutters were fairly cleaned, there was minimal amount of debris left on the deck, ac unit, and yard, and the gutter guard was installed on the section it was supposed to be. So those things were acceptable.

The last contact I had with Ohio Roofing was a call from Mark, before Christmas, telling me he was trying to arrange a time to come out and he would let me know. So when my wife called me today to say she had returned home to find people cleaning out the gutters I was a bit surprised. They were apparently subcontractors, as they drove a white panel van with a previous logo painted over. They never introduced themselves, and left shortly after my family returned home. So this is where the responsiveness grade comes from.

The professionalism got shot down after speaking to our next door neighbor, who was home the entire time they were working on the gutters. She listened to banging, watched them clean the gutters with the claw side of hammers, and listened to the following back and forth (from inside her house next door). Worker 1, "Are they at home?" Worker 2 "I don't F""ing care!"

Now we would have been home, had someone informed us that they were coming. But with our own 4 kids, I'm glad we were not, as we don't speak using such language. Neither does my neighbor, or her young son who was also home. Needless to say, the sentiment, as well as the language is unimpressive AT BEST. As a salesman and coming from a family that has been in small business since the depressions, this is not how you speak to or about your customers.

The real down side is that the "appraiser" from Bremen stated that this was a great Christian company to work for. That may be true, but neither my family, or our neighbor was able to see much light shining from this experience.

So overall, the work was completed acceptably, from what I can see on the ground. I have no complaint there. It wasn't better than acceptable, but was ok. Communication was not good after the first call from Mark to say, we are thinking about you. And the folks that did the work we don't want back again, ever really. Add a B, two C's, a D, and an F and divide by five= 1.6 or a 71% barely a C. But it is a C overall.

Update: This is an update to the response below from Ohio Roofing Solutions.
1). I thank you for responding to and appreciating my review. I will say that your response is somewhat confusing however, as I will outline below.
A). If your employees do not speak English how would most people communicate with them if there was a need to. For instance a homeowner has a question, or your staff finds an issue and has to explain it to the customer.
    B) If these employees do not speak English how did my neighbor overhear them saying, "Are they home?" and "I don't F"""ing care" in English?
    C) Why assume in this culture that your customers only speak English. I speak both English and Spanish and have for years. Both of my older children have been studying Spanish and although they are not conversational they are capable of simple exchanges. And my wife studied Latin for years. Given that Spanish is a Romance language (the linguistic family name that includes Spanish) she can work through simple exchanges as well. So even if your staff only speaks limited English, my family could have communicated if the attempt at introducing themselves had been made. Although this assumes that the Ohio Roofing employees primary language is Spanish.
    D) I appreciate that you agree that foul language is unacceptable, but you said nothing about the sentiment behind the comment. The inference from the comment being that they don't care about the customers. If I used the same language to describe what someone else was doing, it could be inferred that I do not like, or couldn't care less about the person. In a service industry that sentiment shows that these employees don't care about the customer, at least in this one case.
2). So I thank you for the response, but am left feeling no better given the inconsistencies I have outlined above. Hopefully, others experience better service from Ohio Roofing Services in the future and your company achieves success as a result.

    NJW Construction
    1. Time. Once all the materials were in, the time from start to finish was delayed as a result of weather conditions and a couple of minor issues. This was to be expected (and should be with any contractor). Joel did an excellent job of working around the obstacles and coordinating the sub contractors.
    2. Did we get what we wanted? Yes. New windows that function nicely and save energy. New siding, exterior and interior trim, porch post installed. Stucco repaired (looks new again and matched to existing work). Brick veneer was repaired very nicely (that in itself was a challenge for NJW). New gutters and down spouts match and function well. Exterior painting was really good (consistent texture, no runs). New garage door and hardware work great.
    3. Was this what I expected from NJW? Yes.
    4. Was the costs as expected? Yes. Stayed with-in estimate.

    Brown's Roofing
Took one week from signing and paying a deposit to the the actual work.  Was estimated at around two weeks so I was pleasantly surprised.  The crew did a great job and left without a trace besides some very minor debris from the old gutter (dead leaves and dirt).  That was no problem though.
A few weeks before this, a piece of fascia (about 10 feet long) blew off from beneath the half hanging gutter.  I put this in my garage and let it slip my mind.  It didn't come back to me until after they had completed the job and I looked up to see a 10 foot section of brand new fascia board exposed beneath my brand new gutter.  It kind of annoyed me that I was never contacted during the job to see if I wanted it replaced and added to my bill or even brought to my attention.  And it wasn't until I was called several days later to set up the follow up inspection, at the end of the call when I brought it up, before the owner even recognized that this might be an issue.  And he did know exactly what I was talking about when I first mentioned it.
During the follow up inspection, I asked how much it would cost to put that piece of fascia up or put a new piece on.  He guided me around the house eyeing it down thoroughly.  He pointed out a piece of siding that was slightly bubbled out and offered to rehang that while he did the fascia, for $500.  For $50 more, he would touch up three more minor siding bubbles he noticed and a an eschew piece of soffit he found on the other side of the house.
Overall, the job went smoothly and the quality of work looks very good.  The only annoyance would be that 10 foot missing piece of fascia and compounding that, is that to fix it (along with rehanging a piece or two of siding), it would cost me over 70% of price to tear it all down again, get another 35' of brand new gutter, two new downspouts and 35' of fascia board all ripped out and reinstalled.

After that, we started keeping track of trying to contact them.

12/11    Left another msg for Greg
12/13    Sent a follow up email to Gerry and Greg
12/20    Sent another follow email to both
1/4/13   Called office and left message asking for a return call
1/11/13 Called office and left messa ge asking for a return call
2/04/13  Someone called our house from Builders Unlimited and asked if someone had come to  give an estimate.  I explained  they  had and also had done the work, however, no one would call us back about the work that was done.  "Sam" said he would pass the information to Matt or Max.
My husband sent complete email to Matt@BuilderUnlimitedohio.com   on the same day that we received the phone call.  We have no idea if that is a good email address or not.
In summary this nightware has not ended.  Please DO NOT USE BUILDERS UNLIMITED to fix, repair or replace anything unless you want more problems than you have now.
When we hired them, there were no negative comments on Angie's list.  Since that time we notice there have been similar experiences to ours.  We were very late in adding comments as we hoped they would resolve the issue.  However, we were wrong and we want to help anyone else out there who is considering using them.

It went very well.  We have a huge house but two guys got it done in a day which totally amazed us.  The fellow that gave us the estimate was right on the nose with the estimate.  The price was good and they cleaned up afterwards.  They came out the next day to do the work, they showed up on time, and they didn’t complain about staying until 7:30 or 8:00 to get it done.
