-Work was supposed to be done in 2 days, it took over 2 weeks. -They attempted to use the wrong wood until we pointed it out. Even right on the tag of the wood, it stated not for outdoor use or anywhere that it would be exposed to the elements. -They blamed everything on miscommunication when we were VERY clear from the beginning what we wanted. I honestly think they were trying to cut corners and just hoped we wouldn't notice. -Work was finally finished after we contacted our local news station and an attorney. Had we not done that I'm not sure how long it would have actually taken. -We definitely got what we paid for even though they "did so much extra work for free" (work that was asked for from the beginning).

    Berger Building Services
We are very happy that we chose Berger Building Services to construct a new deck on the back of our house. We had been wanting one for so long and when it was time, we had 3 companies come out to give us a quote on what we wanted. Jeff came out to the house and gave us a detailed plan for how he would build the deck, then got back to us within a few days on the cost he would expect. We were able to give them a wide open timeframe for the completion of the project, which was ideal since they already had so much work ahead of them. Once they were able to start, the deck was completed in 4 days and we never even saw the crew there since my wife and I work 8-5 during the week. They were efficient and the new deck is beautiful. They even went as far as to fix the wood they were using to anchor the deck to the house since it was rotting from poor/cheap construction of the first deck that was there when we moved in. Even with that extra work, the cost was just as expected when all was said and done. We already love it and it has gotten quite a bit of use in the short time we have had it. Great work, friendly/quick communication, easy/painless transactions - 5 stars, thank you Jeff!

    JNP Construction Services LLC
Jacob, the owner, was very professional about this job. He has high standards and if he is not on site for something he does inspect all parts of the job closely afterwards. I wanted to fix my house up in order to sell it and Jacob was able to act as general contractor for a variety of services. Jacob does listen to the customer and will suggest ideas to improve a project. I had interviewed numerous contractors before hiring Jacob and most wanted to cut corners or did not have the technical knowledge to figure out how to do my job. Jacob did have the ability and skills to complete a multi-task job. More importantly he agreed with my philosophy to fix all problems and not to cover anything up. Jacob is very trustworthy and a good person. I would recommend him to others.

    Ace Fence & Deck LLC
They made a nice, fancy-looking fence as a railing for me on the front and back steps.  For my back, I needed something to hang on to.  I was worried that my neighborhood association would not like plain, simple railings.  I wanted something that would improve the character and look of the house in the front.  I wanted a colonial style fencing that could be used as a railing.  It goes up the steps and looks very colonial and matches the house very well.  In the back, they made a little porch with railings and steps.  Both the front and the back look very attractive, and I feel that it added a lot to the house.  Then, on the cement going out of the patio on to the concrete, they added another railing that was decorative and beautiful, too.  There was obviously a lot of labor involved.  They came in, started, and finished quickly and the end result was great! I’ve gotten a lot of compliments from neighbors since then.

We received a flyer on our mailbox for this company and called to set up a consult for the first weekend in April 2012. The salesman showed up on time. He was a nice guy but it was a pretty high pressure sales pitch and we fell for it and signed a contract that day (our mistake). We were told the company didn't sub contract the work and the deck and the patio would start around the beginning of May and be done in about two or three weeks. We knew our door was a special order and would take longer. Around the beginning of May we had not heard back from them at all so I contacted them. I was told they had signed a bunch of work right after we signed and that they were running behind. They came out to measure for the permit around that time and it did take over two weeks to get the permit from the city.

By the beginning of June they hadn't started yet. I followed up several times with the project manager and was always told it would be any day. We were hoping to have my daughter's 16th birthday party the second weekend in June so they said they would try to get the patio done for that.

The guy showed up to look at the area for the patio and didn't have any of the paperwork with him. He was subcontracted to do the job. We had initially received a hand drawing of the patio and deck but the project manager took it with him in May when he measured for the permit. I explained verbally the design of the patio. Materials were delivered a few days later and they started. When we came home from work the second night, it was pretty much done but didn't look like we remembered the drawing. I called the guy that did the job and he came over the next day with a drawing that looked like what we wanted but still didn't match what we had. At this point the only way to fix it was to tear it all up and redo it completely. We had them put some extra stones on the pit to try to make it closer to what we initially wanted and left it at that.

The deck was started some time in June. The workers were subcontracted and would show up around ten or ten-thirty in the morning and work about four or five hours then leave. One morning one of them took a nap on the hill in our side yard. Our neighbor took a picture of it and sent it to us at work. A huge bobcat sat in our backyard for about three weeks. Our backyard was completely torn up. Some days workers didn't even show up. The deck flooring had nails missing and the quality of work was poor. Around the second week in July one of the other project supervisors called to apologize and said if they didn't show up the next day he would replace them. They didn't so another crew was hired to come in and finish. It was the same group that did the patio. They finished in about a week. After they left that last day we did a walkthru and found nails not hammered in all the way and uneven railings on the stairs. We had pretty much had it at this point and the owner called us to ask what they could do to make it right. We were so frustrated we just wanted it done and them out of there. They did try to fix things but at that point it was too little too late. It was July and we signed with them in the beginning of April. They did come fix the nails and railings and reseeded our yard for us.

When the door came in we were at work when they brought it to install. We had already missed too many other days from stuff that happened with the deck. Our daughter sent us a picture of the door once it was installed and it was the wrong door so they had to reorder it. They ended up only charging us the cost of the door and no labor costs because of the mixup.

So the entire experience was a nightmare. The end product is nice but what we went through to get it was not fun. It was very frustrating to have to constantly follow up with them on everything.

    Deck Rescue East Columbus, LLC
The job went extremely well. The profile of my house was improved 100%. Ron's crew was on time, did great work, and they always put in a solid day. I live by myself, and it was important to feel comfortable with having people in and out of my house for three weeks. Ron's crew was definitely pleasant and not intrusive. I highly recommend Ron and his team.

Creative Touch Painting & Decorating LLC
It was by far the best experience I have ever had with a painting contractor. They were very prompt on coming out and giving me an estimate. I had 3 other quotes and their price was right in line with the others. They came on the day they said they was to arrive to start the job and they finished the job a day sooner then I was told. They did an excellent job of cleaning up at the end of each day and all their staff was very friendly. They was very concerned about floor and furniture protection which was big concern of mine. They used a lock box to enter our house and I felt very comfortable with that. Once you meet Stu and Sue you can tell that they are trustworthy. I think they have been married for about 25-30 years and they are a great team!!
