    Roofsmith Restoration
During the initial meeting when we received our estimate and up until the day we signed our contract, we were very pleased with our decision to go with Mike and his company. He had lots of information to pass along, plenty of "5 stars" and "A Ratings" with documentation to prove it. Lots of wonderful talk and paperwork showing how important his clients were to the success of his company. Once we signed our contract everything began to go downhill. It took more than 3 months to get the new roof put on (was told no more than 4 weeks, weather did play some of a roll in this so we didn't hold a grudge over it). However, they came and installed an entire new roof and tear down in one day while my wife and I were at work, no notification they were coming or working at the house that day. No chance for us to see what it looked like below the shingles, no chance to meet his subcontractors, no chance to take the dogs somewhere for the day. The very first rain came just a few days later, we had 2 new leaks. Mike wouldn't return our phone calls and it took another 8 weeks for them to come out and fix the damage (on the outside, we were responsible for all the new damage inside the home). Another 5 months went by, playing phone tag and exchanging text messages with Mike. We were continually told we were next on the docket for gutters. Finally we cut our losses and hired another company to do it instead. No apology, no coverage for new damages, and overall a terrible experience that I would not hope for any homeowner. In the year and half since, we have had to do more repairs on our "new" roof, and rather than use our warranty we have paid to have someone else come and work on our home. Our money deserved to have gone elsewhere.

The final product is gorgeous. City inspector, neighbors, friends driving by, etc have all commented on how pretty it looks. Overall I am very pleased. It's easy to give great customer servcie when there are no issues, but the sign of real customer service is displayed when there are issues. Gary and the team addressed my questions and issues right away. As with everything, there were good and bad things associated with this project. I listed them out below: Before Gary came out to show samples and give estimate. I wanted dark brown (espresso) in dutchlap and shake style. This was a new color for 2018 and originally he thought it came in both styles It turned out it did not come in the shake. This made the process take longer as I wanted to see other samples. Gary was very patient with me and got every sample that I requested and delivered to my house. Once I finally narrowed it down, it was not long before he called to schedule the install. I bought my own awning and Gary said it was fine for the guys to install it. He suggested going with a brown awning on the side of the house instaed of white. He was right. I would not have liked it in white. The first awning I bought was not great. Rodney gave an excellent refernce of a company who makes them. The awning company did a great job. During I thought the people working on the siding were employees, and I got the impression they were subcontracted. A big reason I chose this company was because I thought they used their own people. That being said, these guys were great to work with, so it was ok. The guys who installed the siding and the crew who installed the gutters were both very pleasant and great at what they do. I would recomment paying attention to what is happening at your house and asking questions. There were a few things that did not go as i wanted (ie the back of the garage trim was not finished, they broke a screen, covered my doorbell on the side door, and installed the house numbers incorrectly). Everything that i pointed out to the team or mentioned to Gary was taken care of very quickly. I will say there was a lot of small debris, but I walked the house every week and picked up nails, and metal pieces. They had to cut one of the bushes, and I wish I had known as I would have had it cut for them. There was a lot of waste- it seemed there was a lot of large pieces thrown in the dumpster. The guys ran out of siding on the garage and Gary had to order more for them to come back and finish. After The siding slid down on the top of the garage. Gary came out right away and inspected for me and had the guys come back. They nailed it up so it would stay. That install didnt seem right to me, but Gary and the city inspector explained why it had to be that way. They painted the nails so that they weren't as obvious. I also noticed that they didnt caulk all the way around the windows, only the top and sides. Gary and the inspector both said that was ok from a water perspective. I got the bill at the end when it was all complete and it included some items from the original estimate that were removed and also did not include the addition of shake on the back dormer. I spoke with Gary and it was immediately corrected.

    Steve Mayes Home Improvement
Steve and his helper did a wonderful job! He was always timely and kept me informed. I needed some additional repairs on the house before siding could be installed and Steve was able to take care of that also. He installed new porch lights and door bells. My house looks like a brand new house. I am very pleased ! I highly recommend Steve, you will not be disappointed.

    1st Choice Roofing Company
The roofing portion of the job went fine although they failed to replace some of the rafter tails that were damaged. They should have been easily replaced before the roof decking was replaced, and were pointed out as an issue. Prior to the initial estimate. Stuff happens, people make mistakes but this was the entry point where things really went south. First choice was also contracted to do cement board siding for our home. Installing the siding on a 2500 sq foot home took them more than a year to complete. Tons of excuses, our house stood there for a year in tyvek wrap and then we were presented with an elaborate and nonsensical plan as to how things were going to need to be built out to place appropriate height frames around the 50+ windows. Of course none of this comes free, the cost of the job elevates, and by my suggestion we have a better solution in encapsulating the house with poly-iso board. Again, this is now a year after the start of the job, and we have yet to put the first piece of siding up. Finally the siding starts going up, they cut the furnace vent pipes to the outside of the house and nearly asphyxiate another crew working inside the house. They replace the vent pipes to the outside of the house, build an elaborate dog house to shroud them in with no idea that this will force Carbon dioxide back into the house. This is where the slightly humorous part comes in. I send them an image of three different ways the outlets and inlets should look with explanations as to which should be used in different situations. Instead of reading any of it, they simply followed the sample illustration. I opted out of having them complete that portion of the job and turned it over to a heating and cooling company. With the siding up and some portions of the job needing some carpentry we planned on having them do to complete the job, I had had enough. I heard tales of how busy they were, that they couldn't get people to pass drug tests and they were suffering from a labor shortage. Whatever! We walked through the job, identified the items the items that still needed addressed, such as using a putty that matched the siding color as opposed to the trim color to fill in the nail holes on the window frames and I hear nothing from them for nearly a year. I end up getting a call from them some eleven months later asking me when I would pay my final balance. I politely told them the final punch list was untouched, no adjustments had been made for the work they were no longer going to do and I would no longer be requiring their services. I bit my tongue on this mess for awhile now, but now I'm entering the phase where I need to start paying for repairs of work they didn't perform properly as a 12' long piece of flashing has blown away. If it's anything besides a roof, stay far far away.

Mark E. came out and looked over what needed to be done. Tutor did the work along with his father assistant. When the problem continued, Mark was prompt in the company response and sending Tutor out again. When overwhelming rain caused a very small problem, Mark himself came over to look at the gutter when it was raining. He then came himself to do the final tweeking. His response, helpfulness, and thoroughness are very recognized and appreciated.

    Allslopes Roofpros
Everything went very well. Sam and his crew were very nice, professional, and they did a great job! My friend referred them and I can say I'm very glad she did. From the first time we met Sam until the end of the job he was very attentive and kept in constant contact. The entire roof and gutters also only took them one day!! Our new roof is beautiful and so are our gutters. I am very happy we went with Allslopes. :) We will definitely use them in the future with anything else we need.

It was an excellent job with good outcome. I was especially pleased that additional important issues requiring attention were identified as the project unfolded. The quality of the workmanship is outstanding. Good communication throughout the project with excellent follow through.

    PPM Slate Roofing

Great work, and these guys really into old slate! commented many times about the condition of my "green
and grey Vermont slate "roof. An education for me, as I'm into old house stuff - this one's about 100yrs. They recover slate from
    demolitions when available.
Don't forget to ask them what else they can do while they're up on the roof..ended up w slate roof tune up inc repainting valleys, a new
section of gutter, new rake aluminum siding, having the peak painted, and chimney repointed! all for around $2500. (Thier initial estimate just for the roof was $1200. Another contractor gave me an estimate of $1400 just fort he rake siding.)
They did spot a divot on the porch roof, but they dont do asphalt shingles.
They also traveled each of the 2 project days from Pennsylvania to Cleveland, Ohio. Surprised me that they were considered local.

    Gutter Works
They got the job done. I kind of had to point out a few things that weren't done quite right and they were good enough to fix it without any problem. My only concern is like some of the gutters they put on unfortunately while they were still there it started raining and I could see that the gutters were leaking at the corners.
