Did not finish project on schedule and only completed about 80-85% of the project before falling off the face of the map. Contractor also failed to clean up after doing drywall work and flooring leaving a filthy mess behind. Would definitely not recommend.

We worked with Rob for ~1 month. He helped us plan a full overhaul of a new condo we purchased. His pricing was good and he had good ideas. He told us that he could do the whole project within the time frame we needed, and had worked in a similar building next to ours. He gave us every confidence that he could do the job and had done similar ones before. When we had our plans all figured out, he went to the city building office to obtain permits. Within 24 hrs he emailed us a 2 sentence note stating that "he could no longer be involved with this project" and was never heard from again! This left us high and dry and it has taken 3 weeks to find someone new, and they don't have immediate availability. Rob over-commits and likely didn't have one or more licenses to do the work he said Lasting Renovations could undertake. If you need someone to do a small carpentry job, then Rob is good. If you need a larger job done, look somewhere else for sure.

    Miracle Method Of Cleveland
It's a 100 year old house. Then at the end of 2011 the downstairs had been done, but the upstairs was still in the 1916 style. It had the old farm sink and those cupboards. I swear those women in the old days had to walk around with a stepladder to get at their dishes. The countertop was so low between the cupboards and the counters you couldn't even put a toaster on there. So another company came and gutted the whole kitchen and put in a new kitchen for us. And the shower came out of the middle of the bathroom ceiling over the tub, so that other company fixed all that for us. Miracle Method came out and refinished the tub in the downstairs unit and the countertop in the downstairs unit. They also did all the tile in the bathroom because it was the black and white check. Upstairs they refinished all the tile and redid the bathtubs for us. Turns out he, Andy the owner, is a fireman, my husband was a policeman. He was just starting off when they did our kitchen for us. He did the job himself. Over the years now he has trained people to do it for him.

The project went very well. I met with John a couple of times for design planning and measurements before the work started. This was the first time that I had been involved in a renovation/remodel and John was great with regard to answering questions, evaluating feasibility of what I wanted to do, suggesting alternatives and providing an excellent contact for design and selection of kitchen and bathroom cabinets, counters and fixtures. Once the work started, things progressed quickly and everything was done within the estimated timeline. The condo is in a high-rise and the building staff and neighbors were very complementary of the Desborough Construction team and their courtesy. Even though the condo was not occupied, it was left neat, clean and tidy at the end of the work day, as were the buildings common areas. Johns professionalism, organization and efficiency were exceptional. Communication was also excellent throughout. The remodel coincided with a busy time at work for me, but Johns flexibility in communicating by text and email, and leaving samples and notes for me to make selections later in the evening when I was more available kept the project on track, and allowed me to have direct input in all major decisions without causing delays. When we got towards the end of the project and the final details phase, John accommodated my limited availability for in-person meetings and walk-throughs, which I really appreciated. The quality of the work that John, Nate and Rob did is outstanding, and they clearly took a great deal of pride in it. John and Nate also made some excellent design and finishing suggestions that turned out great. The tile work, painting, custom closets, cabinet and fixture installation were all done beautifully and finished with nice attention to detail. I tend to notice little flaws (yes, Im picky); there were very few to point out and anything that I did notice was addressed to my satisfaction and beyond. The work done by the electrical and plumbing subcontractors was also excellent. It was a big project, but the scope of work and costs were clearly explained in the estimates prior to starting the work. There was also ongoing communication when any changes were made, so there were no surprises. I got excellent value for what I paid, and it was well worth it for the quality of work and customer service that I received. I appreciate all the hard work that the team put in, and am very happy with how the space turned out. In summary, I had an exceptionally good experience with Desborough Construction and recommend them very highly. They are a busy group, but worth the wait to schedule in your job. If the occasion arises, it would be a pleasure to work with them again, and I would do it without hesitation.

    MARQUARD HOME IMPROVEMENT & REMODELING
Shawn and his entire crew were exceptional. They arrived on time everyday for the entire 10-week renovation. They provided excellent service, quality and went the extra mile suggesting ways to both save money but also make sure the end result was everything we wanted it to be. They were professional, always cleaned up at days end and their craftsmanship was A+.

    Rocksolid Stone Works
First project had to be paid in full before countertop was even ordered. The guys came out and measured and did a template-that went fine they were on time and friendly. The install was scheduled-they came on time. I had 3 separate pieces to install. The bar went fine, the small piece next to stove was all wrong, the main piece was installed with a seam. The seam was not level one side being higher than the other. I told them to level it , shim it so you could not feel a difference. I am not a contractor but I do know that much. In the end the seam is 1/8" difference. So any glass that hits it will fall and shatter on the countertop. Multiple calls to the company - one everyday with being forwarded to voicemail were not returned. Messages left to what was wrong and wanted seam redone- nothing!! Finally had to turn over to credit card company for dispute as I was getting no response from company

    STONEWORKS LTD INC
This company was contracted by Home Depot to install the countertop. Overall, the quality and appearance is nice. They guys who did the install showed up on time, were very professional and finished quickly.
My overall problem with this company, and therefore reason for the bad grade, is their communication and customer service. The woman who scheduled the installation is just not very nice. She was rude on the phone, gave conflicting information and was not easy to work with. Once we finally worked out the install date, the first stone they ordered cracked. The manager of the install called to inform and then gave me a hard time about rescheduling and again, was rude. He finally put me in touch with the general manager, Joe, who was great. He listened, corrected the issues and worked everything out. I had to call three times the day before the install to get confirmation they would be out.
If it had not been for Joe the GM being nice and easy to work with, I would have cancelled my order as I was so disappointed in the other people in the office.

    Odell Construction Inc
During his first visit to our home Justin was extremely thoughtul in his approach to the project, taking numerous photographs and notes. From this preliminary research he noted several areas where work completed by a previous contractor did not meet local building codes.  Before providing us with an estimate, he met several times with our local building department to develop cost-effective solutions to these building code issues.  Justin gave a well-researched and accurate estimate. He started work when he said he would and completed the project on time and under budget. He managed several sub-contractors (electrician, plumber, painter, floor refinisher, HVAC) most of whom we had selected before we chose Justin as our GC. Justin and his crew were incredibly efficient with both time and resources.  They took great care to protect our home and left our house clean at the end of each work day.
    They provided the following services:
INTERIOR: framing, insulation and roof venting, fireblocking, drywall prep and finish, cement board installation, wall and floor tiling, cabinetry, countertop and window installation
EXTERIOR: Flashing, shake siding, clapboard siding, roofing, exterior paint and paint prep (caulking, sealing, etc.)
SPECIALTY SERVICES: Installation of rehabbed historic door jambs, doors, mouldings, casings, baseboards and floorboards. When we were short on existing historic materials to complete the project, Justin and his crew created new mouldings, flooring, etc to match the old.
In conclusion, we feel it especially important to note that we have young children and that Justin and his entire crew were aware of and respectful of them.  They were polite and kind to our kids.  Whether working indoors or out, we never heard any foul language nor was there any smoking.

    Cabinets & Granite Direct
After completing order and moving forward with refinishing floor, ordering and installing new kitchen cabinets, we were informed that the counter tops we ordered were not available (approximately three weeks). After much haggling, we were able to get an upgraded countertop, though not the same color or style we had originally wanted.  Installers had to come back on four occasions to fix issues.  First was major scratches from on counter top surface from installers.  cabinets and Granite Direct called the stone manufacturer who cited the installers for the damage.  The whole counter had to be recut and replaced, at manufacturers cost.    During removal of damaged counters, installers initially used pry bars damaging the new cabinets.  Our contractor had to supply proper tools and assistance to minimize damage to new counters.  After new counters were installed, we discovered that back splashes had not been glued into place and the counter seem at sink was separated.  The third crew that came was the best of the crews.  They were able to complete the job to our and our contractors satisfaction,  The final visit was les than one year later when the seam at the counter separated again.  We continue to have issues with the seams.  It is very difficult to work with several of the install teams as they speak broken to no English.

    Countertop Solutions

I would use Countertop Solutions again without any hesitation. They were professional, friendly, affordable, and just pleasant to work with. I cannot speak more highly of them. They have a couple of locations throughout NE Ohio, they are family owned, and they don't use sub-contractors.

After getting quotes from Lowe's and Home Depot, we stopped by the Countertop Solutions store in Westlake. We spent over an hour talking with the saleswoman about our different options (laminate, Corian, granite, quartz) and left with some general estimates based on the measurements we brought (two 12 inch pieces and one 107 inch piece). She wasn't pushy, she was informative, and she answered all of our questions.

We stopped back in a few days later and let them now that we were interested in moving forward based on the price and the fact that they use their own installers. Within a few days, a man came out to make measurements, and based on the ease of this project, they installed the countertops a week later. The cost for the cheapest granite w/ labor came to around $2100 (which included the plumber for the install) for two 12 inch pieces and one 107 inch piece with a 4 inch backsplash. We removed the old countertops and disconnected the plumbing/dishwasher ourselves. We also purchased our own sink from Amazon for $150 on sale.

They have a ton of options of granite, but why we went with them is because of the 6 most affordable styles. On the downside, you couldn't pick your slap, but the saleswoman was very open about which types had low variation. We went with the steel grey, and we couldn't be happier. For maybe $300-400 more, we could have chosen our own slab, but we really didn't care once we researched the low variation with the steel grey. I could be wrong, but I saw granite between $43/ sq. ft. up to over $70.

The installers were friendly and efficient, and the install lasted probably 1.5 hours (if that). They were clean, friendly, on time, and the lead installer spent time explaining maintenance with me. Overall, they were great.
