Lighting Installation reviews in Kirtland

Real People ~ Real Reviews ~ Real Results

  • After a bit of phone tag, someone came out to look over the job. Upon looking at both locations, there was some grousing about the challenges of the location. They did mention they were a bit short-handed. After a couple of weeks of not hearing from them (and having a deadline to meet), I purchased a light and had someone else do the installation. I did receive a refund from Chersterland Electric.

  • I had this work done in stages, as it took some time to see everything that needed to be done. The owner came out to assess the work requested and to get clarification on what was desired. A quote usually came via e-mail within 48 hrs. Once approved, a date and time for the work would be scheduled. The work crews were very professional. As I needed to leave for work, they would finish for the day and lock up behind themselves. The interior and exterior lights were replacing existing fixtures. For the very large ones (two chandeliers), they constructed large boxes to contain the removed pieces. Most of the parts to be replaced had already been purchased by my interior designer, so AC Electric had to work around this. They installed the ceiling fan in the kitchen, but recommended a different wall control than the one purchased by the decorator (wrong type). There were previous issues from the previous owners: illegal wiring in the basement and data wire stapled along the exterior of the house. AC Electric provided a quote to bring the basement lighting up to code and improve the illumination, and took down the data wire. I did agree to the basement lighting and was very pleased with the results. The previous coach lamps were improperly installed, and AC Electric mounted the new ones properly so that they would not tilt forward. The owner would come out at the end of each job to inspect the work. If there was something he did not like, someone was sent out the next day to correct it. Be aware that the majority of my costs were for labor, as I already had most of the hardware. The start time is just an estimate, so a couple of times they arrived a few hours later than expected. They are located in Summit county, so there was a $110 trip charge to come to neighboring Lake county for each visit.

  • They were very professional and organized, the job was completed in a very timely manner. They used drop cloths to protect my floors and when they were finished there wasn't any mess at all. Would definitely recommend these guys!

  • I am lucky that I found Paul Baucco on Angie's list and that he accepted my kitchen remodel project.  I had a modest budget and he worked closely with me to keep within budget yet accommodate my need for just about everything.  Note: the price of his services does not reflect the cost of new appliances.  I appreciated his sense of style, open communications, and the quality of his work.  He also had very creative ideas and thanks to him, I had so much fun making my own pendant lights at The Glass Asylum in Chagrin Falls.
I highly recommend Paul and his team.  He started gutting my kitchen on January 6 and left me a happy customer on February 3, 2016.  While the project was completed very quickly, Paul paid close attention to the quality of the work being done and even (graciously) accepted some last minute painting requests I made.

  • Disaster case.  Definitely be on your guard if you decide to hire.
I will take responsibility here that I was the person on site for the initial service, but I did not double check with my husband, who was the one who made the appointment and detailed the scope of work to the company, what that scope of work entailed.
First, Eric was 20 minutes late....and he gave me 5 minutes notice that he was going to be so.  Appoint was in the middle of my work day so I was flexing my time, would have been nice to get that call earlier so I could didn't have as much time to make up.
When Eric got there he reviewed scope of work from the work order (install locations), talked to my husband on the phone about the needs in the garage, and gave me a pricing estimate.  He did not show me the details of the work that he priced out, just gave me the price that I signed off on.
It took an hour and a half for Eric to do the install of the garage outlet and the replacement of the two outlets in the kitchen.  While doing the kitchen install I was asked if I wanted him to reuse the same covers; I told him yes if he could.
When our buyers walked through the property in the evening, we were informed that electrical work promised was not performed as per the contingency contract.  The problem was the outlets in the kitchen: they were supposed to have been replaced with GFCI outlets, but were not.
I called the company and they were very responsive to my urgent need to get this fixed (we are set to close on the property in a couple days) and were able to promise to get someone back out to the premises to make the exchange as per the original work order.  Because I wasn't able to flex my time at work again to oversee the re-install, Eric was given our lockbox code so he could access the property on his own.  We figured we could trust him to do what was needed.
Eric called me and left a message at 3:26 PM to let me know that he was finished with the outlets.  Approximately 5:30 I visited the property to ensure that the correct thing was installed and send a picture to the realtor to pass on to the buyers.
The first thing I noticed upon approaching the property is that there was shattered glass all over the porch, and the screen door was fully shut.
In the voicemail left to me, there was no mention of this damage.  Eric claims that it was not broken when he left.
With no witnesses, obviously, it cannot be proven what happened.  However, after having lived at the property for 3 years and rented it for another 2, I knew the signs of what had occurred: the screen door has never shut properly (even after tightening) and on windy days, if the person accessing the door does not close it properly, it will swing open with the wind and slam into the side of the property, and break the globe of the exterior light fixture.  This has happened so many times to me and my husband (we have small children so the door repeatedly wouldn't get closed correctly) as well as our tenants that I am absolutely certain of what caused the light to break.  (After all, it didn't magically shatter in the 2 hour period between when Eric left and I got there, SOMETHING caused it to break.  There was no evidence of this something at 5:30 when I was on site.)
I called the company to let them know of the damage, and they responded to me the next day to let me know they were backing up their employee's story.  Which makes sense: there is no proof, no witnesses. I just wanted to let the company know (before just posting a bad review here) that they had a potentially bad, untrustworthy employee, and should they choose to use him in the future, they were liable to get complaints in the future about his work.
Their story:  Eric told them that I instructed him different than the work order on the day of the initial visit.  That is simply not true.  Since I didn't know the full scope of the work (which I admitted to him while he was there, and also why I had him talk to my husband about the garage outlet), I couldn't possibly have instructed him to do something different than what was laid out for him.  Knowing that he was untruthful about this, makes me even more certain that he is being untruthful about the breaking of the globe.
The company also tried to placate me by assuring me that I made out because I didn't end up paying for the GFCI outlets.  I only paid the original $142 to replace two STANDARD outlets in the kitchen.  Replace, not wire new/create new holes in the wall etc.
I think that pricing is outrageous.  According to Home Depot's website, we could have purchased and installed the GFCI outlets ourselves for about $50, meaning we got charged $90 for a professional to take 15 minutes to install two things....and they were the WRONG things, making it even more of a ridiculous upcharge.  The fact that the company thought I was somehow benefiting because I didn't have to pay even more because their pricing is out of whack, is just absurd.
I will say that this is my first bad experience with someone I found on Angie's list.  In all other instances the price for service may have been higher than what I could find on my own, but I was happy to pay it to have the job done correctly the first time by someone trustworthy so I didn't have to deal with this nonsense.  As I write this, another Angie's List company is at the site installing a new garage door, without my presence.  I've used them before and they have shown themselves to be in line with my core values as a consumer, and I know I can trust them to get the work done.  (Which is why they have won my repeat business and my recommendation.)
Overall,  I am very disappointed in this experience, and will definitely never be using this contractor again, nor will I be ever recommending this contractor to anyone.

  • I had a breaker that had worked for years, then suddenly started to just trip off consistently.   There was an issue with a line that was run underground to exterior lights.    I bought the Angie's list deal for 2 hours, and they were able to immediately fix some of the outlets on the circuit and provide a recommendation for fixing the 1 remaining asset on the circuit which still was not working,  my outdoor pond lights.     The solution they provided was cost effective and they set up an appointment for the following week to fix them.   They called to schedule the second appointment, and came and fixed it within hours of their call.   They were prompt,  helpful in explaining what needed to be done,  and recommended a solution that happily fixed my issue without having to dig up the existing lines.   Yes,  I would use them again.   I will be calling them back when I need additional work.

Update on this review,  the new switch for the pond light went out in December.  So the temporary work around only worked for 6 months.   While I did like their solution and the guys from the company were accommodating,  I was disappointed that the end result was approximately $450 for a six month patch.    I am back to no lights and the breaker tripping.  Because of that I have decided to update the rating to a C for quality.  Once spring/summer hits,  I will likely be looking for another electrician to re-wire.

  • The quality of Danny?s work is excellent. Danny went above and beyond the description of the job and exceeded our expectations throughout the job. Danny made helpful suggestions, and kept in touch with the stores providing the material so that the job would not be delayed due to material not being available when we needed to install it.
We have never experienced a contractor who was more considerate of our property, who cleaned up the job site every day (not just at the end of the job), and made sure that we were as inconvenienced as little as possible. The tile install on the floor involved removing the toilet, and Danny made sure that it was unavailable for only one day.
We cannot recommend Danny highly enough. His price estimate was very competitive with the other bidders on the job, and he stuck to that price. He is very dependable, and always arrived on the job when he said he would.

  • Called DLF Electric to make an appointment and the work was scheduled. Don and TJ arrived at the appointed time and successfully performed the required service. The quality was excellent and all emplyees were professional.

  • Tom and Sam were first rate professionals to work with on this project. I would highly recommend them.
Their first visit was to remove the decorative lighting. Showed up right on time as promised and took care of that step. They also left the necessary materials for the sewer replacement team to lay the new ground rods in the trench.
The follow-up visit was to replace the lights. Showed up right on time as promised and did that as well as reconnected the new ground line to the electric box.
During the visit, we had some conversation about some trouble with the electric service - Sam did a complete checkup on our line and discovered that we had lost our neutral in the main electric feed in the house, which prompted a call to First Energy for repair (and they confirmed this problem did exist). This work as done outside of the scope of the original project, but included in the total project pricing.
Clover Electric has performed other service work for us in the past, and we have been very pleased with them on those projects as well.

  • Morry was everything the beleagured homeowner could desire! We lived with various minor problems (ceiling fan crept only at low speed, dimmer didn't raise lights to high, flickering lights in closet) for years, but we needed help quick when three ceiling lights over the kitchen sink blew simultaneously when I flipped the wall switch last week. Morry arrived as promised and solved all our problems. He was friendly, professional, calm, non-judgemental regarding our electrical lethargy, and good-humored.
