  • All went very well! The crews were friendly and professional, cleaned up after themselves, and seem to have done an excellent job (too soon to know if the new windows keep the wind and cold out). I would definitely use the company again.

  • The workers arrived when they said they would, did a great job, and worked very quickly.  The workers were all very nice and professional and great at their jobs.  It was fun to watch them work as they were very efficient.  They cleaned up after themselves each day and at the end of the job.  The house looks great!   Mark was not at all pushy or high pressure.  He came out several times while the job was being done to make sure it looked great.  Dan, the person in charge, was very knowledgeable, as were the other workers.  We later called Mark to see if his company did another kind of work.  It doesn't do that kind of work, but he spent some time tracking down someone he thought could do the work for us and giving us their contact information.

  • John (the owner) was very professional throughout the entire experience.  We got quotes from three other A rated companies that we found on Angie's list and John was the only one (without hesitation or request) that took the time to climb up on our roof to inspect it.  The others acted like this would be an inconvenience for them and did not get on our roof.  We respected this attention to detail and this is one of the reasons that we chose Barbera Home Improvement.
He got us on the schedule as soon as we requested it and his crew showed up 45 minutes early and got right to work.  There was a small chance of rain the day they came out, but fortunately it held off until they were pretty much done.  They worked diligently through the rain to finish and John also got up on the roof to inspect everything before they left.  It took just one day for them to complete the roof installation for our 1100 square foot ranch.
Clean up was important to us as we have two dogs that run freely in our backyard.  John assured us that they would put tarps down to catch most of the debris and then go around with a magnet to pick up any loose nails, etc.  He said if we found anything they would come back out and go around again.
Our final bill was true to the original quote with a small additional charge for some wood replacements.  They take pictures of any damaged wood to show you.
We were very pleased with our new roof and it was a pleasure working with John.  We would not hesitate to use him again or recommend him to family and friends.

  • Wonderfully overall. One worker purposely and excessively wasted time so he was let go by company owner Mark, then all went well.
Mark was very congenial and cared more about pleasing us than anything else.

  • Walt was great. I bought a bank re-po in Feb 2014. The bank gave me a list of things they wanted fixed within a week of closing. I found Walt's Handyman Services on Angie's List. I called Walt and explained the circumstances. He said he was very busy, but could give me 2 days. I was able to get Walt into the house ahead of the closing so we could inspect the repairs needed and order materials accordingly. After the closing Walt gave me 2 10-11 hour days to get all of the repairs completed.
The vinyl siding replacement was tough to match, but Walt found a supplier with a matching siding( different make ). The bi-fold doors I bought were too wide for the closet openings, so Walt had to cut them down to fit. They came out looking perfect.
All of the repairs the bank requested were finished within the week. When the appraiser came out to re-inspect, he was very happy with the workmanship of the repairs (and so was I ).
I have had Walt do several other repairs since then and I'm very pleased with the results. He is very busy, but he tells you that up front. I will call him again if I have jobs I cannot do or do not have time to do.

  • The owner Mark was extremely responsive to my questions and needs. I got quotes for both painting and siding my house. Ohio State Renovations was the best value and had the best reviews. The decision was a no-brainer. Weather permitting, the crew showed up everyday by 8am. They cleaned up each afternoon and were gone by 4pm. The overall quality was excellent and I would recommend their service to anyone. I look forward to using them in the future.

  • The owner, Ted, takes personal interest in possible and actual projects.  He met with us in May to gather information for an estimate.Ted has an engineering background and drew upon this in making suggestions to meet our needs.  His carpenter, Phil, came out to assess that aspect and also made suggestions to either improve quality of repairs or keep costs reasonable.  Ted prepared an estimate package which we accepted.  The rainy summer pushed actual work on the house to September.
Extensive carpentry work was done on exterior: created outside access to attic space, repaired major water damage to deck supports, rotted window sill, and number of siding boards. Company carpenter, Phil, did excellent work.  If need more than cursory carpentry, though, I suggest using  independent carpenter to reduce costs.
Washing was done carefully with minimal damage to plantings and no damage to brick and stone.
The staining/painting crew, Nathan & Mike, worked very well together and also did excellent work. Very professional.  Nathan let me know when arriving or delayed, checked with me on the color assignments (we had a three-color scheme), brought possible problems and questions to my attention, and took me on a final inspection when work completed.  We were all quite proud of the finished product.

  • My only hope is to save anyone else from using this contractor.  On day one, they cut my phone & internet cable and I was without phone & cable from Tuesday to Saturday when AT&T could come and run new wires.  He was emphatic that they did nothing wrong until AT&T showed them the wire they cut.  They broke the faucet off on the side of my house and flooded my basement - luckily my basement has a cement floor but I lost all my cat bedding. toys, food  and supplies and the water was pouring in over my hot water tank and up under my furnace.  I still have to get a plumber out to install a new faucet.  He did not follow code to have an electrician remove my electrical boxes from my home so siding could be installed behind them.  He just sided around them and caulked an inch around the boxes which looks horrific.  My main electrical wire was not put back on the house right and it is hanging 3 feet off the home and could cause serious issues - I need an electrician to come out as well and get the wire and boxes propertly secured on my home.  My mailbox was insulated and sided over  - even after both me and the Kent mailman told them to not forget to cut the hole for the mailbox.  For 5 days I had to go to the Kent post office to get my mail because I had no mailbox.  10 areas on the home the siding was cut way too short and there is a gap between the siding and the trim.  My shutters were nailed back on my house --on top of my window trim --- ruining my shutters, trim and siding.  The trim on the house was put on with no facia board installed underneath to prevent water from entering under the siding.  The siding on the whole back and 2 sides of the house is starting to bow and it looks deplorable.  Siding was never even put on 2 parts of the house.  The trim on the house is 3 different colors and types and not properly installed.  It is not even proper trim material but sheet metal cut and bent to fit around my windows - leaving the edges so sharp that you could cut yourself quite horribly.  My downspouts were not secured back on the house and fall off whenever the wind blows.  Pieces of my spouting are missing to properly secure the downspout to my home.  I stopped him from coming back on my property after waiting almost 2 weeks to get some type of resolution to all these issues.  He kept saying he would fix all my issues - just give him a chance.  Leave a paper on the porch with all my issues and he would take care of them when he came.  He never showed.  Always had an excuse - flat tire, said I never told him he could come -- he never called.    I asked Peter for all my money back -- I told him I would absorb the additional costs of a plumber and electrician and loss of supplies in my basement -- he refused.  I am currently in the process of preparing a lawsuit.   I have had 3 reputable siding contractors visit my home to provide an estimate to (a) fix the work he has done and (b) if not fixable, cost to reside my house.  All 3 contractors stated they have seen bad work done by contractors before but never to this extent.  My house is not fixable -- it is a total redo and it  is going to cost me more to fix some of the issues stated above that  Peter did.
Please -- do not use this contractor or you will face what I am going through.  Call me or come look for yourself at the mess I was left with.  The emotional distress alone that I have suffered just dealing with these issues is enough to push anyone over the edge.

  • On day one, I got an estimate for the job and a promise to send me an email with start date.  Then an email with a date (3 weeks later) for start of job.  Postponed start date due to rain.  Then came on the assigned date and finished only half the job.  Did not have "ordered" supplies to change vinyl siding panels.  Paid him for the supplies.  I was given another date (Saturday) to come finish the job.  Received a call in the morning telling me that he was waiting in front of supply store to open.  Did not show up on Saturday.  Now just waiting for him.

  • Lousy overall.
Called the owner, make contact, scheduled appointment at my house.  The man showed, looked at proposed job, and provided estimate of materials and cost, and estimated a straight-forward completion of job.  We agreed.  He left the work site to procure materials and prep for the installation task for outside wood siding repair.
Never heard from him again--except when I called about seven or eight months later.  He was tied up with a busy schedule, and said he would contact me.  Never heard from him again.
