    Mr Pools Inc
    We have not completed a review until now because we wanted to see how well the pool's systems worked given the significant installation and operating issues that are discussed below. Mr. Pools installed our pool over two weeks in late July 2015. During that time Mr. Pools and a subcontractor poured concrete decking around the pool/patio area and failed to see that cement had been poured over the pool's skimmer cover and housing and that the housing had been submerged under concrete. After the cement deck was partially cured, Mr. Pools cut the concrete deck around the skimmer housing, removed and replaced the housing, and applied patching cement around the skimmer housing's perimeter. The patch does not match the color of the concrete deck. Shortly after the pool was filled and while Mr. Pools was on site and afterward we made numerous comments to Mr. Pools about unusual water loss as the water level was dropping about 1/2" per day irrespective of weather conditions. We had not previously owned a pool and were told by Mr. Pool's owner/onsite supervisor/manager that the water loss was due to "evaporation". After weeks of complaints and we having conducted two separate "bucket" tests to validate our concerns about water loss {Mr. Pools said that the first bucket test result was flawed because we used an incorrect water container], Mr. Pools finally agreed that we (homeowners) would hire an independent pool leak detection firm, pay for the inspection, and if a leak was detected Mr. Pools would repair the leak and reimburse the detection fee. In early September 2015, the leak detection company found a leak in one of the pool's return lines. Mr. Pools returned about a week later and replaced two return lines and closed the pool at no charge. Thereafter, we made repeated requests of Mr. Pools for leak detection cost reimbursement but received excuses and delays. We finally received reimbursement five weeks after the leak was found. We note that Mr. Pools' contract with us required instalment payments as work was completed, that we paid as agreed, and did not attempt to postpone or avoid our responsibility. In fairness to Mr. Pools we note that this past winter Mr. Pools agreed to return in the spring at no charge and evaluate our ongoing concerns regarding numerous sharp / pointed protrusions in upper parts of the vinyl pool liner between the steel walls and liner. Our concern had been that the protrusions were from cement spatter while the deck was being installed and that they could result in premature liner wear or tears. Mr. Pools opined that the protrusions were actually softer vermiculite particles that were trapped between the steel wall and vinyl liner during the pool's construction. Early this past spring we drained the pool so that this evaluation could be done and absorbed the cost of pump rental and water refill but were pleased that Mr. Pools agreed to conduct this evaluation. Mr. Pools removed a small portion of the liner in a few areas and crushed a few of the larger particles in his fingers and said that their presence should not affect the liner's life. We appreciate his evaluation of this concern. Last fall and again this past spring, we experienced problems with our CoverStar automatic pool cover when opening and closing the pool. The cover would wind or unwind unevenly, bind, and in some cases cease working before fully retracted. We discussed this issue with Mr. Pools last fall and again this past spring when we opened the pool after which we decided to contact CoverStar in Indianapolis, IN. CoverStar recommended an evaluation by a factory trained representative so we hired its Cleveland-based representative to inspect and make repairs as needed. The CoverStar mechanic identified numerous installation mistakes including installation of a motor frame in a reverse position to its correct placement, incorrect installation of rope guides, incorrect alignment of guide ropes, and omitted installation of screws in the leading edge bar. Due to the number of installation issues, the mechanic removed the entire pool cover assembly from its in-ground frame (electric motor, clutches, cover fabric, cover tube, and motor-side housing) and reinstalled according to factory instructions. The mechanic also advised how we could do basic maintenance and adjustments. We did not have any problems with the Coverstar cover this past summer.

    It did not go well. First, when you call 1st impressions...if you speak to a guy named Brian, he will tell you he can do this job on the side. This happened to both myself and someone else, who actually passed his name on to me, but not before the work he requested was complete (so had I known how horrible my friend's experience would be, I certainly would have never called Brian). As it stands, neither of our patios were done well. My friend and his son had to finish their patio on their own. I had to get someone else to do mine since whatever Brian did bubbled up the same night he did it (he was in a rush to get his money and did it in the rain). After that, I requested the remainder of the product he purchased with my money so I could do it myself...never got that either. Down payment was $200 of a $420 total, will never do that again without something written down. I never paid balance, but was still left right where I started. Also, patio area is small, maybe 10x10. Just an overall horrible experience. I called the company back to speak to Rob Tarro (owner) to see if there was anything he could do. He informed me that the company focuses on new installs, not maintenance and repair, which is why he lets Brian take these calls. Just wanted others to be aware of this.

    Sal's Landscaping
    Sal would never be on time for his appointments and would never call to say that he is running late. When he did turn up, instead of apologizing, he would just start telling me that he is as busy as a brain surgeon and implying that he is doing me a favor by keeping his appointment.
    During the day of the job he asked me for more money than the original quote and said ?you have to pay more if you want a good job done?.  When I tried to discuss the issue, he got angry and started talking rudely. I then just told him to get the work done and I will pay more money as I didn't want a  lousy job.
    My worst experience ever working with a contractor !
