  • Went really well. Tony and team took care to minimize impact to my yard when possible. The French drain seems to have really dried out my yard. Job looks really good - they did quality work. Also got the whole job (significant scope) done in a day, which minimized impact to me. I am happy with the price and quality of service I received. Would hire again.

  • Majority of work was completed OK but with notable exceptions. I was present for most of the work and Scott was pretty accommodating and cooperative to work with. Excavating down 10 ft in the heat was hard work and the dirt sides often caved in. Scott (owner) was actively on site every day. He was hyper about the challenges and often complaining and yelling at his crew. He did not have enough of the proper equipment to manage cave-ins. The job took several days longer than he expected. I ended up paying him twice the initial contract price due to the unexpected difficulty and some extra drain line work. My mistake was paying in full before the project was completely done. Once paid, he never came back to finish sealing and backfilling one section of wall. He promised to do it four separate times but never showed. I finally did it myself. About half of the downspout drain line connections were placed out of alignment, they look shoddy. Several small cracks in the foundation were not repaired as promised but rather just painted over with sealant. Worst thing is that the gas meter and main line were not well secured and moved about during the work. An energy inspection later showed a gas leak inside my basement probably resulted from this. Time will tell if the work provided a fix to the basement water leak. So far it seems to be working but there hasn't been sufficient rain to really test it.

  • First - We ended up spending over $26,000.00 to have our bathroom completely remodeled of which the construction portion was $12,100.00. When we first called Kevin Haney at JM Design he was absolutely IMMEDIATE when responding to questions or concerns. We had a beautiful drawing of our bathroom done which showed a rough schematic of what we were looking for. The responses at the beginning were absolutely BEYOND perfect and made you believe that this company is going to really walk us through this process and create an environment that is positive. The moment we wrote a check for the deposit is when things went down hill fast. We signed at the end of March and the project did not officially finish till today 8/18/15. This was a 3-4 week project based on their timelines. They did not want to start until ALL the supplies were on site so we essentially had to delay the start date from 5/1/15 to 5/25/15 because the cabinets took 4-5 weeks to get in. They ended up not officially starting till the first week in June due to the holiday. We were one week into the project and they wanted to change the payment plan. We declined and they were fine with it but obviously it made us concerned about cash flow. Two weeks into the project (middle of June) all they had completed was the demolition work and they were looking for their payment that was due (half the money- remember this is technically when they were suppose to be half way done). Obviously we were NOT comfortable paying for half the job when NOTHING Was done. So we changed the payment plan to now be more specific to various jobs being completed. We agreed to weekly meetings to discuss the timeline which grew into a 5-6 week project then to 8 weeks tops..essentially on July 3rd we had a very frank conversation that said we were upset that NOTHING was done except demolition and the framing of the new closet had started (not finished or even close). Just a reminder this is now 7 weeks into the project when we are meeting with them. Up to this point the discussion of the timeline was apparently all crap as there was typically only one guy on the project which they claimed was all that was needed on the project however on July 3rd a new guy showed up at the meeting that had all the answers. With Jeremy and Kevin (owners) in the same room (my bathroom) with this new guy Mike we then proceeded to find out he has been on another project and this was his first day out to our house. The other guy (his name was Mike too) was basically the hired help to get the job ready for the other Mike....I guess. Anyway the new Mike (lets call him the project manager) proceeds to say that he will need 3 weeks to do the job and while I am BLOWING A GASKET that this now is going to be 10-11 weeks I figure I have to bite my tongue and move forward as its better than the legal option. Project manager cant get started until the following week due to existing commitments. We basically start over and he does a fairly good job with sticking to his timeframe. We had some issues that I expected the JM Design to do a better job of communication but the tile work we wanted done was not done to our specifications (they should have laid out a sample pattern and had us approve it but we assumed the verbal conversations were all that was needed) which is common sense. Even the contractors on the job knew the tile work didn't look right but they were told by their bosses (Jeremy and Kevin) how to do this. So essentially the problems were as follows: 1) Communication on how we wanted things laid out were not documented and therefore confusion existed ultimately costing me another $800 in tile work that I really have no idea what they were thinking with some of the areas 2) Communication on the timeline for the project was HORRIBLE till the end 3) drywall work and painting was NOT good..definitely NOT their strong suit as you could see the drywall was not patched and floated out correctly, painting required two coats and they did one so several areas you could see where the paint didn't cover or had drip marks, they got paint speckles all over the new tub and tile work because they didn't use a drop cloth. I mean this is the type of work I would do as a non professional 4) The grout on the floor is a different color- you see where they did one area one day and then did the rest of the floor on another day as there is clearly two distinct colors 5) The tub they installed is not supported properly underneath and we are currently trying to work with JM Design to get this corrected but they are not responding or even acknowledging our email. 6) they did not seal any of the tile work they did in the shower, tub area or floor as they said it was not necessary.. FYI- We were educated by EVERYONE.. Oakwood Village, separate contractors that sealing the tile is very important to keeping the tile looking new and preventing grout from getting discolored, etc.

    NOW IN LIEU of all of this we did keep $661.00 of the final payment with a HUGE explanation as to what we didn't like and what didnt meet our expectations which let me just be the first to tell that between the 1) $80.00 we spent to have all the appliances, floor cleaned 2) the $440.00 we are going to spend (once the contractor can get there) to have the drywall seems floated out along with doing a better job of cutting into the sealing 3) $150.00 we spent to have all the tile sealed (shower, floor, whirlpool tub area) 4) the $180.00 we spent to have all the duck work cleaned out (during the construction phase they exposed a return air vent and didn't block it back off so it sucked all the insulation that fell out of the attic right above the area that had the exposed return air vent which in turn caused the air system to fail. 5) $350.00 to have the tub pulled and supported properly on the bottom so it doesn't creek like its going to crack when you get in (still waiting to get all the quotes in to fix the tub). We also have the entire front of the house covered in white powder from where they cut the tile work on the front porch and never cleaned up after themselves. You hear about cleanliness and most of you are probably like me and would take the best price over someone who is clean however when you have a project drag out to 12 plus weeks you will QUICKLY start to get tired of the mess that is made and not cleaned up on a daily basis.

    I would not recommend this company as they might be the best priced but the service and quality will lack!

  • Poor customer service. The workmen had to go in and out of house and ground outside was wet but they did not care to remove their shoes or wear covers for the shoes and dirtied/soiled  the carpet. By the time I saw , the damage was done. Moreover I do believe that they should have had the sense to treat a customers's house/property with care rather than show complete disregard for it.

  • the crew used a trencher and hand digging to install thje drainpipes to the drainfield.  They were careful to not damage the flower beds as asked.  They didn't leave significant ruts in the lawn. They left the area as neat as could be expected when you have to dig up the yard.

  • Besides a challenging schedule, Mr. Clink was very punctual, responsive and knowledgeable.  He clearly explained the reason for the issues, what they were doing to correct and provided warranty for the work.  We appreciated the work and relationship so much that we called him back to do more minor work on the house. 
    This is a family business that treats people with respect and he is a perfectionist.  The quality of work shows. 
    My only reason for rating professionalism has excellent is purely that they don't leverage technology quite as much as a typical business does today.  i.e. don't accept credit cards is a key example.

  • They put in new down spout drains that go to the street and I've also had them to remount drains and pipes previously.  They are very good and I was very pleased with the results both times I have used them.  They are very prompt, neat, and have given me some really good advice along the way.

  • Todd took more time than anyone else to look at the problem, explain exactly what would be done and answer all my questions. Unfortunately, by the time I signed the paperwork, his schedule was already filled for the next couple of months but he promised it would be completed before winter.  The project then went exactly as promised and was well worth the wait. They replaced the storm sewer with cleanout, backfilled and sloped that area of the yard for drainage, installed new drain/cleanout ten feet in each direction from the corner of the house, repaired cracks and coated the outside walls, backfilled with gravel and dirt, reconnected two gutters to down spouts and added additional dirt to slope away from the side of the house. They did an excellent job and I highly recommend contacting them for this type of work.

  • They did a great job. They have also done some excavation for us in the past and we have used them several times. They were very prompt and when we called them they came right out. They did not take a long time getting the job done and we did not feel like they were dragging it on for money. Everything was very straightforward and they took care of the issue.
