General Contracting reviews in Hudson

I personally would not rehire Mark Weinhardt/ Bella Remodeling for any reason. I do advise you perform the needed due diligence prior to engaging into a contract. As with any research this would include searches of county court records for all counties that the contractor operates in (for example Summit and Cuyahoga) as well as local Municipal Courts (for example Stow Municipal Court), online reviews from websites such as the Better Business Bureau and Angies List, as well as a thorough review of references provided by the contractor. We entered into a contract with Mark Weinhardt of Bella Remodeling (previously doing business as Prestige Remodeling as well as Nu Look Remodeling) in July of 2016 to finish our basement. He was to complete one job that was scheduled ahead of us and then begin our basement starting on October 17, 2016. Our job was to be substantially completed approximately 6 weeks later on November 25, 2016. Work did not actually begin until November 7, 2016 due to the previous job taking several weeks longer than Mark originally planned for. He worked mostly partial days at our house and the job started to run well behind the original timeline. We approached Mark on several occasions over the following months in order to try to get the project back on track, but did not see a change in his work habits or pace of work. On February 27, 2017 (17 weeks after the start of the project) Mark removed all of his tools form the worksite and informed us via a text message he would not be finishing the job. We paid 80% of our financial obligation to Mark, for less than 80% of a finished product. The work that Mark left incomplete includes (but is not limited to) completion of the custom bar (which was to include the purchase and installation of the granite countertops), completion of the custom build-ins for the entertainment center, completion of the bathroom (including installation of the shower hardware, purchase and installation of the shower door, purchase and installation of the tile floor, purchase and installation of the toilet and purchase and installation of the vanity), purchase and installation of the drop ceiling, purchase and installation of the stair case rails, casing of the support posts, final paint and removal of debris. Attached are pictures time stamped February 27th 2017 that show status of the basement when Mark informed us he was not going to complete his obligation. We have since been awarded a judgement in our favor against Mark in Stow Municipal Small Claims court for the maximum damages allowed by the court of $6,000. We have attempted to contact Mark several times post judgement, but he has not returned any of our phone calls and we have not collected any of the judgement. Details of the court judgement against Mark Weinhardt can be found on the Stow Municipal website. Stow Municipal website: [*** Link removed ***]

He came and did the job, the paint was running as he did it when it was raining, the vinyl fencing had screws missing in multiple locations, the wood pieces he put on and painted were not put together and the pieces were over lapping, 7 of the pieces (out of 12) fell off because he glued them on instead of nailing them in.  He came out to "fix" the paint job which still wasn't fantastic, he put in a few more screws and then when we called about having him come out to replace the wood pieces, he stopped calling, messaging and answering myself and my husband, even after multiple messages left on his voicemail.  We had to go hire someone else to complete the job since he wouldn't answer.  He is unprofessional and shouldn't say things like "Not to toot my own horn, but this looks nice", when in fact IT DOESN'T!! It was  a poor job and now he won't even come fix it!  DO NOT HIRE THIS GUY!! Trust me, you will not be satisfied!! LOOK ELSEWHERE!!!!!!

The salesman rushed through the process which included measuring all windows. 4 of the windows needed to be remade because they were too small. The installers used too much caulk on windows which makes it looks messy. The trim on one window was very sloppy and not the workmanship I would expect. My concerns were ignored no one came out even after I requested someone to come and look at it.

Replaced an ENTIRE half-bath ceiling (demo/clean/add studs/drywall/three muds) in 4 hours.  Agreed to comp him for the 4th hour; he cleaned up and you'd never know he was there.  I only had minor mud on the walls to sand down and use touch up paint.

He did an excellent job!  He precisely measured and fitted each riser.  He is very detail oriented and wanted the job to done to perfection.  In addition, he was prompt and fairly priced.  He was very professional, and courteous and kind to everyone including our overly interested children.  He also offered additional advise on future projects at our home and seemed to be very knowledgeable on most everything.  Without doubt we would hire him again

These guys were incredibly responsive from first contact and made time for a variety of urgent renovations. I appreciated their attention to detail and their flat rate pricing. I hate the handymen/contractors that you bring in for a relatively small job and then take two weeks to give you a quote. Urgent Care gave us a quote on the spot for most of our work and was there working within a few days. They do take some time to get everything done properly once on the job, but they always kept us updated and we never doubted their commitment to quality. If they were going to be late arriving, they always let me know.
They are currently handling property management for me and I couldn't be happier with them.

The nightmare started after the contract was signed. He started the  work without taking adequate precautions to contain the dust when he stared removing the old tile - he had to be reminded to put up plastic sheets !!
Anyway he would not spend a  complete day, always leaving after a few hours to attend to some emergency or the other! After a couple of days he fired his assistant and was  doing it on his own which made it even slower!.  In addition to frequent absences and numerous trips to Home depot or Loews, the work was progressing in fits and  statrs.  When asked he was always rude, belligerent and  dismissive. It got so bad , my wife do not like even speaking with him !!
We put up with all this as we did not want to have an unfinished project on our hands. As it is we were severely inconvenienced for many days not having access to the kitchen and eat-in area and the den.  The last straw was when he put  the new expensive tiles down ( the day we were  leaving to go on our scheduled trip) and we came home and SAW the DISASTER!!!. The tiles were all   laid down unevenly with severe lippage. Almost half   the tiles were loose and rocked !  Some were actually popping out.  The floor looked HORRIBLE.  When asked about this  he told us that this was to be epxected as the floor was uneven and that  when he finished grouting it will not look bad.!
We were uneasy about this explanantion, but gave him the benfit of the doubt.  On our return he did not commence work for an entire week - he was BUSY with other jobs or too sick;   this dram stretched on,and  finally when he came in do the grouting on a small section to show us, he was too sick to stay more than a hour ! Bottom line the  grouted tiles DID NOT LOOK GOOD !
In desperation we asked a couple of other flooring contractors to come in and give their opinion. Every single one consulted was   shocked to see the poor workmanship, the lack of proper preparation ( no backer boards) and ALL ADVISED to stop immediately and restart the job .  So basically not only did  we loose the advance paid this moron, we lost all the expensive tiles and  grouting  materials!!.  When  I suggested  to him that we chill out and discuss options to fix the problem, he threatened us with legal action !!
That was it!  I  told him not to come back and  we basically  had to start all over again with another flooring contractor.  We lost  approximately $3600 by going with this cheat not to mention almost 4 weeks of aggravation and our time..  He does NOT have the skills, the correct equipment or knowledge but makes tall claims!  He is not to be trusted and does NOT know how to conduct himself professionally.

We found his ad in the local paper and called him to come out to give us an estimate on bathroom repair / light remodel work.

This guy set off every red flag under the sun for why not to hire a contractor. If you look up the word unprofessional in the dictionary, there should be a picture of Ray (SupermanServices) as the example. There is so much wrong with this moron that I'm not sure where to begin. Right out of the gate he started speaking to my wife in a very condescending manner, patronizing her on almost everything she said. I guarantee that my wife is far smarter than this guy can ever dream of being, and yet he spoke to her like the stereotypical male chauvinist.

He started name dropping everyone from Dennis Rodman to Kid Rock, then started talking about female clients coming to the door naked for him. We could not get the guy to shut up and actually focus on the business at hand. He spent 95% of his time trying to win us over with his "charming" personality. I have to say I felt like a needed a long hot shower after getting anywhere near this guy. I would rather spend a cozy afternoon with a used car salesman and a dentist after the experience with Ray.

On to the "project".. He looked at the bathroom for 5 minutes and gave us a price verbally. We asked for a written estimate multiple times and all we got in return was "dog ate my computer sort of excuses". He used the typical BS line of  "I have tile left over from this other job blah blah and I'll let you have that for free, even though it's really expensive high quality stuff". He brings a sample in and apparently did not notice there was a small barcode sticker on it. I grabbed the barcode number and looked it  up, a whopping 78 cents for a large 8x8 piece of tile.

I signed up and spent money for Angie's list just to warn people about this guy.

End result of course being I hired somebody else and am very happy with them.

It did not go well.  The guy is not professional.  You have to keep calling him to get him on phone.  Was supposed to be completed in January and wasn't completed until March but was never completed.  Always had to leave for other jobs.  Had too manyexcuses.  He is nice to talk to but when it comes to business he is not good or professional.

I was happy to have it repaired. He charged me for the extra 2 hours, because it took 4 hours and that included him running to his lumberyard to buy things. He worked the whole time he was here and the lumberyard was not that far away. He charged me an extra $185 for materials for the repair. He said that he could not give me the receipts for the materials; he said that the check was my receipt. I have no idea what I was charged for. I think that the work was done in a neat and workman like manner. I do not have any objections there and he did work. He did not whine and did everything in an efficient manner. He did everything that needed to be done and I am quite pleased. I am not complaining about the quality of the job. Not giving me anything that tells me what I paid for is not good. I was glad to finally find somebody who would come out for a small carpentry job and I am satisfied with the job that he did. I think that the price was on the high side. He was responsive; they came less than a week after I called them. He was here when he said he would be on the dot. I probably would not use them again. I do not like not knowing.
