Sunrooms And Patio reviews in Hilliard

Suncraft completed a new screened porch and paver patio at the back of our house about a month ago, and I do not recommend them to others. The finished product is satisfactory, but the building process was an ordeal. (1) We signed the contract for our project in May 2018 based on their projection that it was a 3-to-4 week project and they would begin construction in July. It was September by the time they were ready to start but, since we were scheduled to return to Florida in October we postponed the project until our return in April, 2019. The project was finally completed at the end of June. (2) Project management was non-existent. After the owner argued with me to permit my own plumber to come in and perform a two-hour job around his crew, the project sat idle for weeks at a time when they waited for sub-contractors to arrive or, more often, were pulled off to work on other projects the company had going. (Dont let him tell you the delays were caused by waiting for city inspections the inspectors always came within a day or two of being notified.) (3) The companys work crews were sloppy in their work (but the sub-contractors were all great!). The framers failed the city inspections twice, the first time for lack of proper structural support for the roof! They left a pile of trash in our front yard, that was picked up only twice during the 8 week construction period. After they finished and left, we found cigarette butts, bent nails, empty soda cans, and small lumber scraps in our yard for several weeks. (4) They do only what is specifically called for in the purchase contract and nothing more. They tried to get out of doing some simple wiring for my sound system by claiming that its not in the contract and I had to show them where it was, indeed, in the contract to get them to do it. Since construction methods are not specified in the contract, they stapled the floor-to-ceiling screen to the frame of the room and covered that with wood trim instead of building a frame for each section of the screen, making it reasonable to maintenance and replace the screens when thats needed. (5) Communication is very difficult. Their primary crew did not speak any English (or, at least, would not admit that they did), so to any request they would answer talk to Jeff about that. Jeff Horowitz is the owner of the company and is unpleasant and rude (see many other reviews for descriptions of that). Our salesman was pleasant, but unreliable in communicating plus he seemed to have little influence within the company anyway, so it did no good to ask questions of him. Jeff Horowitz will likely rebut this review (he usually does). Let the buyer beware!

    Elite Home Remodeling Inc
We decided to add a new room where our patio previously was, initially thinking a 3-season room but then going whole hog with 4-season with independent heating/cooling. We chose Elite after talking to the owner and reading Angies List reviews, and weve been consistently impressed by the speed and quality of the job theyve done. They are easy to work with and responsive to questions, and really made it as painless as possible during construction. Were able to quickly accommodate last minute request to install Solatubes natural lighting. Went with Coretech flooring to keep down damage due to dogs. Really pleased with the new room.

Our first meeting was with Robert, the owner who listened very carefully to what we wanted. Additionally, he shared pictures of other projects to gain understanding of the look and feel of what we desired. He promptly delivered a quote which included all the things on my "like to have" list. Unfortunately, the cost for all my wants exceeded my budget. Robert met with us in person and we edited the project to eliminate all the fancy wants and together we created a plan to create our three season room at a price that was more in line with what we wanted to invest. We agreed to be responsible for all the painting and we changed materials and eliminated a fireplace feature and Robert sharpened his pencil - it was a good session where I felt like we both worked to find a way to make this happen. We were given an approximate timeline for the project. Our project manager Tom contacted us right on schedule. It did take a couple of meetings and more time than anticipated to complete the drawings and get all the necessary signatures and permits; however, these challenges did not impact our projected start date. Our crew, Andy and Greg, began work the day that they were scheduled and arrived each day as soon as daylight permitted. They started early every day taking only a short break and would work onsistently until quitting time. They worked cohesively as a team and it was evident from the beginning that they were professional who worked well together. They were both very respectful of our home, our dog and our neighbors.. Elite excavated support piers, poured the concrete, and framed the entire structure in just a few days. They did an excellent job matching the existing shingles , vinyl siding and roof and gutters on our 22 year old home.. Andy and Greg showed great attention to detail and were very conscientious in the work. Each day they cleaned up any debris and left our backyard in usable condition. The entire project took seven weeks to complete. I wholeheartedly endorse Elite Home Remodeling and would hire them for my next project. This was not the first construction project we had completed at our home but it was certainly the project that went the smoothest and as anticipated - on time and on budget. One of the comments that Robert made on his first visit to our home was that the room would look as if it had always been there, not an add-on. The quality of the work performed and the attention to detail seamlessly integrated this addition into our existing structure and landscape.

    HDL-Harrington Decks & Landscaping
HDL was awesome! They were great to work with. Eric helped us with a great design that fit the exterior of our home perfectly for both a wood deck and patio area, including a bump out for a grill. His crew was so courteous and were very good at what they do. They also didn't seem to mind the toddlers that my wife watches looking at them working  through the windows all day long either. It was so fun to see the project take shape and done in a timely manner.

    Ultimate Concepts
The price was good.  Unfortunately, the sanding and everything didn't last, so they had to come back out and redo it.  They came back and redid it all free of charge.  They were professional and punctual.  Their clean-up was decent.  There were some scraps, but it was no big deal.  They were very responsive.  They did work with me quite well.  I was able to work with them on the price.  All in all, it was pretty good.

Patio Enclosures by Great Day Improvements LLC
Overall, it was a slow painful process. At one point we were pushed back after the demo had started because they 'forgot to order the floor',my construction materials had been sitting in the warehouse since the previous fall and no one noticed the LARGE STRUCTURE missing. Finally around the end of June, they finished the room. Delay after delay really took the joy out of the construction of this room. The finished product is fine, but it's hard to get too excited after having lies and delays on a daily basis. I absolutely would not recommend Patio Enclosures to ANYONE.

We had an excellent experience with Mr. Pomeroy and his company. Mr. Pomeroy spent a good deal of time working with us to achieve our desired design within budget. Upon our first meeting, we took an instant liking to him and were very pleased with his approach and manner throughout the entire process. His active listening skills, personable communication manner, and sincere interest in seeing our vision to completion were impressive. He provided us detailed drawings of the project and all the information necessary to submit our plans for approval to our homeowners' association review board. He also took care of all the details in securing the required city permits. He is a gem among those persons working in his industry and we would refer him without hesitation. His team of craftsmen stayed on schedule and worked seamlessly with the other three contractors. Not a day goes by that we don't look out our back door and our hearts are filled with gratitude at the work of art produced by him and his team of professionals.

We contacted O'Dell Remodeling in 2002 at the recommendation of a colleague to construct a screened in porch, and repair water damage to the floor under our front door. They were one of three companies called. Mike O'Dell was prompt, discussed options with us, and provided a very fair estimate. In the end, they built a gorgeous three season room with a cedar deck, completely tore out the front door, repaired the flooring, and installed a new front door with two sidelights. He and his brother Jeff spent considerable time trying to locate the leak at the front door, and went as far as removing the siding to do water testing---VERY THOROUGH!! They caulked all openings that could be potential leak areas, installed Tyvek and replaced the siding. Everyone was very professional and I appreciated the attention to detail (I'm very picky). I have used them since for other projects, and will continue to do so.

We wrote one complaint about this job back in September, 2006. The problem with leaks in the area where they joined the sunroom to the existing roof continues. We have had the roof inspected by a reputable roofing company and an adjuster for our insurance company. Both agreed that the sunroom roof was joined incorrectly to the existing roof. This area continues to leak every time it rains and has caused extensive damage to the drywall. The company maintains that the problem was with our existing roof but both inspectors say that this is incorrect. Mastergard's idea of fixing this was to apply some caulking at some seams, but the leaks continue. We have complained about this shoddy workmanship to the Ohio Attorney General's office and they are investigating their business practices. Mastergard has advised us that to them the case is closed, that it is not their problem. Now the room has developed another leak, this time in the middle of the sunroom, nowhere near the old roof.

We saw Karl (our project manager) at the Home and Garden show and left our contact information with him. Charlie called us back right away and scheduled a time to come out and talk to us. Charlie took pictures and asked questions as we were describing what we had in mind. He was meticulous in asking questions so that he understood exactly what we wanted/needed in the addition. He worked within our budget, but also gave us pricing for some options that we inquired about. The project started on time and went smoothly. There are always bumps in the road, but Karl was always quick to remedy the situation. Overall it was a good experience with a great company.
