    Coughlin Toyota
Coughlin Toyota is a great place to do business. They are a great bunch of people to work with. If you ever need anything, they are more than willing to bend over backwards to help you. For the first 25,000 miles of the vehicle, your service and oil change is free. That was nice. I bought the Hyundai before the Toyota  dealership was here, that is how I got to know them. These same people are now over in the Toyota dealership, I know both businesses. We have had the Hyundai for almost eight years with no problems. I traded it on the Toyota. They gave me more than I expected for it. They are just wonderful people to work with. If I couldn't get my car to the dealership, they sent somebody to get it. They would take it, do whatever needed to be done, and bring it back. They gave me good deals on both vehicles. I had spent several years in the car industry and so I knew the prices were alright. Having spent almost 20 years in the automotive industry, I know how wearisome these people can be even on a business to business cash back other than just being a customer to business.

My experience with Max Tune was when they were at 788 Taylor Station Rd. I have not experienced their new location on Taylor Rd. I have taken my 2005 Chevrolet Malibu to them as well as a Dodge Intrepid. I have seen many beautiful classic cars being serviced there as well as the average family car. Every time I have used Max Tune I have been impressed. This was a one guy shop where the owner/mechanic was not limited by computer read outs. He was a good old fashioned mechanic who still remembered what a carburetor was. He was able to think outside the box on what the best and safest route of repair, as well as the cheapest. His prices were very reasonable. My only complaint is that he is often hard to contact, usually requiring leaving a message (or two) on his answering machine. Often, you can catch him in person at the shop. Considering he's one person, and often very busy, with 6 or 7 cars waiting for all different kinds of work, that is understandable. No matter what, he tries to get you in and out and back in your car as quickly as possible. If you have an "older" car or a vintage classic, he is a master. This kind of mechanic is a dying breed.

First, let me say that my experience with the Harers has been great, especially Jill. She is friendly, caring, compassionate and she knows her stuff, when it comes to the business. I took my car, a 2005 Chevrolet Malibu, in to have 3 tires replaced, all 4 tires rotated and most important a vehicle alignment. There was distinct tire wear on the inside of the tires and the car was pulling to the left. I was only replacing 3 tires, because one had already gone flat and had to be replaced a week earlier. I was purchasing tires to match that tire.

Everything seemed to go well. I had used Harer's before and was very pleased with their service. When I left the shop, I drove south for about a mile, then got on the freeway, speeding up to between 55 and 60 mph. I knew immediately, that something was very wrong. The car was still pulling to the left, and started shaking when I got to freeway speeds. I immediately exited the freeway and returned to Harer's. I was told that because I was a and quot;big guyand quot; ( I weigh 260 lbs, not skinny but not gigantic), that I was affecting the car alignment; the only way to correct this would be to perform the alignment with me sitting in the car. I countered back that this explanation was ridiculous (I used a different word). The mechanic was about to tell me there was nothing else to do, when Jill Harer the owner came in. At my request, she instructed the mechanic to take a and quot;test driveand quot; with me and see what the problem is. I took the mechanic through the same route and the same problem appeared. However, the long and short of it was that there was nothing they could do, unless I wanted to have them drill holes and install some sort of compensator. I left very dissatisfied. Not long after this, I took my car to another auto repair shop (DLS Tire Centers) and as an aside, I asked them about the problem, and what Harer's suggested solution was. They said they would check it out. What they found was a broken mount which made it impossible to maintain proper alignment. Also, they agreed with my assessment of the and quot;big guyand quot; theory. If the weight of one man has such a drastic effect on the alignment of a car, then every time a new or additional passenger enters the vehicle, the alignment goes off track.

In the final analysis, even though I truly liked the Harer's and had experienced good service in the past, I felt in this case, their mechanics did not have a true understanding of the workings of a car. I felt they were tied to what the computer or machine told them, and thus, extremely limited in their abilities.

    DLS Tire Center
I own a 2005 Chevrolet Malibu. For about 6 days, my brakes were squealing, so I took the car to DLS. I had gotten other repairs done there, and had purchased my most recent set of tires there as well. They were quick to get my car up on the rack, though if I had come later in the day, it probably would have taken longer. I found out that the front brakes were extremely bad (which was where the noise was coming from), needing brakes, pads and calipers replaced, and the rear brakes needed brakes and pads, total cost a little over $900.00. I am on a pension and $900.00 is a major expense. The guy seemed to detect the concern (actually panic) in my face, so started breaking down the estimate into smaller blocks. He told me the front brakes were an emergency measure, something that had to be done immediately. He said the cost for that would be about $763.00. The rear brakes needed to be repaired as soon as possible, but they could wait for a little while. I explained the financial situation and opted for the front brakes only at this time, plus an alignment and oil change. I had purchased my tires at DLS and had a lifetime free alignment agreement, so that was not an additional cost. They showed me to their "lounge" where they have a couch, chairs including a recliner, a large screen television, free coffee and vending machines. They had to go to Columbus (30 miles away) to pick up the parts (I believe they had everything but the calipers in stock). After a while the man at the desk informed me that (for some reason) my vehicle required a less common part than most Chevy Malibu's and it took a little more time to find it. The driver was on his way and they would install it as soon as it arrived. I decided to walk across the street to have lunch. When I returned, the car was finished and parked by the door. In my review I did not give perfect marks on the price. That does not mean I think DLS was any more expensive than the other places in the Heath/Newark area where I could have taken the car. It was because the cost of auto care everywhere is ridiculously high. I have used DLS 4 or 5 times in the past 3 years, and have found there work to be quick, good, and competitively priced. They talk to the customer and explain what is wrong and what is not wrong with your car, and give you options for repair. In Heath and Newark, I have several options when my car needs work. Out of all of them, I chose DLS and was very comfortable in that choice.

I am very impressed with the honesty and professionalism of these auto mechanics. Tuffy had said my older vehicle needed a whole list of repairs. I took the car to Straight Line and they found one necessary repair and it cost a minimal amount

They were recommended to me by my son. They are trustworthy. They dont try to pump up the prices on anything. They are quick to get me in. The people there are cordial. Their service feels very personalized - they either have a really good computer system or a great memory. I am always impressed that even when it has been 6 months or so, they remember when I was there, what car I had brought in, and what was done.
