Excavating reviews in Hamilton

Real People ~ Real Reviews ~ Real Results

  • Awesome. The team worked very hard and cleaned up each day when they were done for the night. They put down a tarp to protect the floors from the patio door to the basement door. Any time I had a question for the owner, he would call me back within an hour or two after leaving a message. I am very pleased with the quality of work that was performed!

  • Quoting process was different for me as Stan quoted it but could not accept it for several months. Had to email them the quote back but it was honored at price stated. Start of job was postponed partially due to whether...partially I believe to his schedule. Project took at first only 3 days....then a month to complete. In the 3 days they completed the drain tile, runs and window wells...did not complete final grading, cleanup/reseeding. During ditching they hit many buried pieces of concrete and a concrete septic tank. This didn't slow them down much and when asked about additional costs Stan said it comes with some jobs. I was impressed enough with this that I tipped Stan and his crew at the end of the 3 days. When contacted about finishing the cleanup/reseeding, I got the answer that he was awaiting dirt settling before finishing....this was about a month latter. The project started (including quality of work) well better than expected. They did leave some large rocks in my yard from trenching that my tractor found...the only thing that really angered me about the whole project. I was not impressed on how the project finished including quality of work. Communication with this company is sketchy at best...if given Stans direct cell phone use it. Messages placed at their main number are rarely returned (I got about 2 in 7). On a personal note, I don't think I have met a more friendly and honest contractor.

  • They identified the root cause of the problem and have made recommendations for repair.  One section of line had collapsed and needs to be replaced.  Another section has roofing debris that is reducing the flow.  They will be excavating the line and plan to replace the damaged section along with blowing out the blocked line. They will scope the lines beyond the damaged section for any additional issues.

  • It went well. Tony is super busy, so that's why I marked a B on responsiveness/puncuality. If you are not in a rush for the work, I would highly recommend him. He knows what he is doing, and he is very fair on price.  Liked him immediately and he did a great job on the work.

  • The quote was for repairing somewhat small damage in our stairwell (the corners) as well as the wall at the bottom of the stairs.  In addition to repairing the drywall, they were to repaint the wall and stairwell, as well as the doorframe (all damaged by movers).  What work they did do looked decent.  No qualms there.  But they did not finish the job... not even close.  I stupidly paid in advance and took the money and ran before the job was completed.  They did a poor job of cleaning up too... dust and drywall pieces everywhere, paint spots all over the carpet and they did not replace the outlet covers (in fact they took them with them, so we had to buy more).
The professionalism was also very poor.  The communication between myself and Mike started on the right foot.  But he routinely canceled appointments and showed up late.  When he was at our home, he and his team never got much accomplished.  The job really wasn't that big.  It all ended with them never coming back to finish the work (he probably had 20% of the job left).  I called and left messages, but he stopped returning my calls.
I would not hire him or his crew again, and neither should you.

  • Using a boring machine that was able to drill horizontally, Henry Excavating was able to replace our leaking water line without any extensive trenching in our front line, for a very reasonable price.  The workers were on time, courteous, precise with their drilling, and left no mess.

  • Roger was very professional, and courteous. His crew came the day they said, and it only took 2 1/2 hours to finish the job. Roger sent us a bill for the exact amount quoted. Henry Excavating was the 3 rd company we contacted, and the only one who called back and came to our home. Would Highly recommend them.

  • We had a broken water pipe near the city shutoff.
Called Rick on a Saturday night. He Arrived punctually as agreed Sunday morning. He provided an estimate on the spot. He contacted the county to mark the utilities and was back to dig by 1 pm. He found the issue with a broken PE pipe (cut by a rock). Ran copper from the meter to the broken pipe (about 6 feet).
I am very happy with the service and the cleanup.

  • Jeff is nothing short of superman. He took on mission impossible fixing a leaky foundation in a 138 year old converted condo building with a stone foundation. He had to get permission to work on the adjoining property from the owner and dealt with the business leasee.  He completed all the engineer drawings and paperwork with the city. Then he had to walk a front end loader up stairs to get to the work site. He dug out an 8 ft. diameter stump of a locust tree stuck to the foundation and trenched down the building. He triple sealed  where the tree roots had breached the stones and put up water barriers against the entire foundation. He put drainage tile in the trench to carry any water away through a pipe he placed beyond the building.  He put helical piers in to stabilize the building. He landscaped the area to create a slope to carry any water away from the building. Several other companies had been contacted and refused the job. Jeff was definitely up to the task. The condo owners are extremely thankful to have found him.

  • Much of the ditch was in a cramped location between the house and a steep, upward-sloping bank.  From the start the project was complicated by a number of unexpected large rock slabs (typically 1? thick and 4? across) beneath the surface which blocked the path of the ditch.  Excavating these unavoidably left large pockets in the banks of the ditch.  This complicated placement of the geotextile and film liners, requiring extensive reconfiguration along with more gravel than planned.  Other complications were rainy days after which work (in the wet clay) was not possible for a few days.

In spite of these obstacles, the work proceeded very satisfactorily and to a successful conclusion.  Mr. Ferman is experienced and very skilled at operating an excavator and skid-loader.  (I say that as someone having earlier personal experience in similar areas).  He was always conscientious and carefully planned each day?s work in consultation with me, sometimes anticipating and resolving problems before they occurred.  Interacting with him and his associates was a pleasure.  I felt his charges were very reasonable.  Without question I would have him back again for other projects.
