Chimney & Fireplace reviews in Grove City

Bought 1/2 cord seasoned firewood. Although not seasoned as much as I thought it should be, the price for the wood, delivery and stacking was very reasonable. In fact it was the best that I could find. Will definitely use again.

    Accurate Chimney & Fireplace
I contacted this company to get a sweep & inspection of a 28 year old chimney that had never been service before. Upon inspection they noted signs of water leakage on inside of fireplace. They discovered loose flashing & some missing bricks from chimney shoulder and suggested that these areas needed repair to prevent further water damage. Estimate of repairs seemed appropriate & the work was completed timely.

First off - these folks have a terrible "answering service" most times no one is at the phone. I had an appointment first time and when I called to check they said they had to cancel due to other tied up work. I understood that. When they finally did arrive another day two employees were waiting in the driveway for their supervisor. The employees were fine. The supervisor was unwilling respond to anything about the unit without me asking for a response - I did finally request was why he noted a supposed concern on one item. Frankly, the attitude for a service provider was less than friendly and responsive. A bit of being cordial and interested in the work and the client would be expected. It left me with little if any confidence in their inspection report.

    Tim D.Burkitt Company
Tim responded promptly and was able to get us in within a few days. He showed up on time and finished promptly. He cleaned the unit thoroughly, which was all that was required. He did not try to upsell by trying to sell unneeded parts.

Arrived promptly, took care in keeping the area safe from dirt and ashes. They recommended replacing malfunctioning gas log unit and remote, which we will do at a later time. They turned the gas back off after testing to make certain there would be no gas leak.

It was good. It was 2 workers and it took about a half hour. They cleaned up. I'm just rating them B for price and quality because I don't have anything to compare it to. That's the first time I've had my chimney cleaned.

For the money paid, they looked at the fireplace and said it was broken and it needed repaired by another company. Advised to call the company first to see if inspection and cleaning was really necessary.

On time, explained everything he was checking to assure fireplaces were safe to use. I purchased the home 2 years ago and had not tried to turn on the gas starter and use the fireplaces. Answered all my questions, cleaned the chimneys, no dust or mess. Also fixed the damper that was jammed and partially open. I was very glad to get the damper closed before the really cold weather. Great job!!!.

It went very well. The 2 gentleman were courteous and efficient. They thoroughly cleaned and inspected my gas logs and chimney, which had not been used for nearly 10 years. Everything checked out OK. They fired up the logs and gave some pointers for safe operation. Would hire again.

    R. West Tree Service
I could apply the following to several other attempts at finding an honest firewood supplier: I first called, (step one) and of course was told by Juanita that the wood has been split for at least seven months, and is thoroughly seasoned and ready to burn . Also, all of their customers are happy with the wood they deliver. I ordered 1 cord, to be delivered the next day. Robert West arrives, (step 2), close to the designated time, no problem there, uncovers his load of wood, and right away i can smell fresh split wood. I took a piece off the truck, could feel that it was still heavy with moisture, split it further, used a moisture meter, and got a reading of 30%+. I know, all you tree experts selling firewood will tell us dumb city folks it'll burn. Anyhow, when i went for another piece to check, Robert put on his show, (step 3), acting like he's going to leave, telling me he doesn't need to put up with people like me! I actually had decided that a cord of unseasoned wood now, would save me the trouble for next year. The wood is actually good, just not ready to burn this year. Robert calmed down a bit, backed off on his insults, what a temper, and he and his partner unloaded and stacked the wood in the cord sized area setup for 3 rows of wood, 8 feet long, 4 feet high, (1 cord). I had to stop them from stacking the wood crisscross, lots of airspace that way, (good trick, fellas) they finished up. I paid him, and he was gone. It was late, so next morning i went out, measured what they had delivered, and discovered that it was not a full cord by about 27 cubic feet, and decided to call and mention the issue of the unseasoned wood, the rude and insulting attitude of Robert, (at first, i know that's step three of selling firewood), and the not so full cord of firewood. I talked to Juanita again, she listened for a bit, then exploded with "Robert says you was drunk and difficult, a real pain...etc.etc..). Not sure if Robert knows me that well, but yes, a do walk funny because of my lame leg and bad back, which by the way is why i don't cut my own firewood anymore. And, yes, Juanita, i was drinking a beer.. So, when i mentioned getting the remainder of the wood, Juanita continues she "i don't want to deal with you"..etc. Then, the enraged Robert gets on the phone, tells me "you took the wood, if you want your money back, then you deliver it back here". And on to, "messing with him, you picked the wrong guy to mess with, i'll come over there and show you who you're messing with." I left out all of the colorful expletives, but you can imagine. After being threatened, and a little shaken, I hung up. Bottom line, i was very uncomfortable being insulted and threatened, and will not use their services again, and will be sure to let others know of my unusual customer service experience with them.
