Home Remodeling reviews in Germantown

Real People ~ Real Reviews ~ Real Results

  • Just to clarify, from my original statement I didn't want to get too in detail about everything that took place during the remodeling of our bathrooms, but since they insist on blatantly lying about the details I feel obliged. I did not like Richard [last name] just because he spent more time talking then working which turned a 4 week project into 9 weeks, I did not like him because the first day he was there he came into my upstairs while I was getting out of the shower, which my upstairs is closed off and he never knocked and I felt uncomfortable and found it absurd that Richard felt that was to do. I called to tell Brian the next day to tell him how uncomfortable it made me and he brushed it off lying to me telling that he has known Richard for a very long time when come to find out he's only worked for the company for 6 months prior. So this company knows exactly why I did not like Richard.

Next, they said they bought a freezer and $500 worth of meat. Honestly, I'd like to know where exactly this new freezer and meat is because it was never even discussed. I guess, since I have yet to hear from them after this review was posted that I will never be seeing that. I told them that Richard spent a whole day blowing breakers in my house because he said himself he didn't know what he was doing so I could only assume it was him that also blew the breaker causing the meat to spoil before we knew it. I was the only one home and I certainly never blew the breaker. In fact, breakers in our house frequently blow since this project ended which they never did before but I'm sure that's just a coincidence as well.

They also said they wrote off a "large" amount of money we owed them. I'm not sure I consider Brian saying he didn't want my money after everything that had happened and writing off the last $500 we owed the for a project that was undertaken without our knowledge as exactly large.

As for listing all the good reviews for Richard, I'm sure he will get lots of good reviews as he probably pressured your customers into enrolling in Angie's list by taking $15 off the total amount of the job, like he did us. Like he also tallied up a bill in his own handwriting which I still have and this company knows about, of all the things he did for free, also without my consent, and threatened to charge me for them if I told his employers on him. Of course, when said employers were at my house they assured me that neither of these things were company practice and Brian said in his own words that Richard would not be working for them any longer. Of course I believed them but they were also lying about that.

Brian came back to my house himself to correct Richard's mistakes. He was polite and worked fast. Bathrooms looked great. I have not contacted this company since our last dealings, because I would be too afraid of who they would send to fix it. I'm sure there will be a rebuttal statement for this, as it seems this is how this site works. It does no good to give an opinion of a experience with a company if all they do is lie to try and dismiss your claim.

As of today, 3/15/2016, I have not received a call from this company.
3/25/2016 still no phone call on any of our lines.

  • I ignored all the other reviewers complaining about Tim not showing up when he said he would, or never showing up at all.  Don't make the same mistake...
I had a punch list of small items that I needed done but did not have the time or motivation to tackle myself.  I found Tim here on Angie's List.  He was quick to come out and give an estimate.  He asked good questions and quoted a fair, or even low, price.  We agreed on the price and set a date for him to come back contingent upon me purchasing the materials over the weekend.  He said that assuming I had the materials he would be done by the end of the following week.
I bought the materials and called him, but he had some reason that he couldn't come out until midweek.  I okayed the delay and gave him a code for my door.  The entire week passed with no sign of him.
The following Monday he called to ask if I still wanted him to come, he said he got busy the previous week and apologized etc.  Against my better judgement I gave him a pass.  He came out that day or the next and started the work on the gas line but didn't finish.  He apparently needed materials and had to stop, but did not come back right away.  He also wanted to meet again to talk about the other work I needed done.  I set a time to meet with him, took off work to be there, and he called at the last minute to say he couldn't make it.  It took another couple of days before we could find a time to meet.  He did no work during this time because he needed to meet with me, even though his questions only pertained to parts of the job... he could have been doing other things in the meantime.
When we met he needed me to go over all of the things we had discussed in our initial meeting.  Where did I want this, how did I want that.  He took no notes either time.  He finally did the closets but he did one of them all wrong.  I had told him specifically how I wanted it:  Two hanger rails, one at 44" and one at 88" the upper one would have a shelf, the lower would not.   When I got there both had shelves and the upper one was much lower than agreed.  He claimed he didn't understand how I wanted it, even though we discussed it twice.  I ended up drawing a diagram.  He eventually got it right.
When he was finished with the gas line I found that the stove would still not move into place.  His new outlet was protruding directly into where the regulator on the stove is.  I showed him, and he measured and realized his error.  He said he would move it again.  Rather than redo what he had done to fix it, inside the wall, he added an extension outside the wall, without really moving anything.  The stove will not push back all the way still, but it is better than it was and there are also waterlines in the way.  Nonetheless he really didn't do his job correctly, even if it's not his fault that I can't get the stove against the wall.  So, I let it go, mostly because I was tired of dealing with him.
The job that was promised to be done within a week took nearly a month.  A week was plenty of time in this case, it's not like he was over promising.  I'm sure the job wasn't super lucrative, especially when he had to redo things multiple times, but he set the price, and it was his fault he had to redo.  I would have (and probably should have) paid more.  Tim does good work, when all is said and done, but the hassle, delays, and lack of professionalism are not worth it.
