General Contracting reviews in Genoa

    Riverbrook Construction
This is a kitchen Remodel and addition that started the first week of Nov 2007. The contract was signed in July, construction was supposed to start in August. It didn't start until the 1st week of November. The project was plagued with problems. They left an awning that was 10' X 9' hanging off the house for 3 weeks that was dangerous and embarrassing. The project came to a halt. No one showing up to do any work. I got my attorney involved and surprise, the project started moving again. By Jan 1, 2008 my kitchen was completely gutted and the wall knocked out between the old and new addition. I usually had to call the project manager and basically only got lip service from him. The project was never managed. No communication between the workers and the manager. There were multiple times I was told someone would be out to do work and no one would show. I had to leave my back door open even though the project manager had a key. Between Jan. and April plumbing & electrical was roughed in. Drywall was finally put up in the middle of April. They were called in way too early and they made a mess of things, covering up shutoff valves and plumbing line hookups. They also slopped my appliances which were never covered by anyone. After they finished drywalling, I was suppose to get 4 days to paint before the cabinets were installed. I was called on a Saturday by one of the regular construction guys that they would be installing kitchen cabinets Monday. He said if I had the paint I should slap some on in the open areas to save cutting in & doing a lot of trim work. Well, that didn't happen. It is now almost Labor Day and I still have no water in the kitchen, foundation not backfilled and patio not poured. They couldn't even give me water for my washer as I have been going to the Laundromat since Dec 1st, 2007. My kitchen is in the living room and I have been cooking off a hot plate. All the electrical was just make hot Mid April. The final plumbing took a while, I first got water to my washer. Then it took 3 weeks to get the faucet installed on the sink. Then it took another 2 weeks to get the drain on the dishwasher hooked up. The electrician finally finished installing ceiling fans after an initial no show. I had a list of fixes and they basically finished that up and I signed off on the project on June 27th, 2008. Major design flaw, need a pole to support new structure. 2 cupboard units did not fit, measurements were way off. I was forced to replace my well early because they burned out the pump when digging the foundation. I paid $1,538 for a V-Vent job which my plumber said he would have charged $500 for. I paid $1,515 to have a new sewer line dug because they couldn't find or tap into the existing. The dishwasher is still not working or fully hooked up and was never mounted. They put a new sub floor over the old sub floor and even left the old tile on it. The floor is uneven and squeaks like crazy. Even in the new edition it, squeaks.
