Tooth Extraction reviews in Garfield Heights

    Bilski, Dr. Thomas M
The staff were amazing, very nice and helpful. They made sure I was take care of well before and during the appointment. After they did x-rays they said I needed a root canal. I'd had a few of those before and though they weren't my idea of fun, they were no big deal. So Dr. Kindl gave me the lidocaine injections and said he'd be back in a few minutes. One of the ladies from the staff checked on me during that time and got me some water. After awhile Dr. Kindl came back and checked on things. I still felt a little pain so he gave me another injection. After that, it seemed good. So he started to do the work. For most of it, it really wasn't too bad, just uncomfortable like most dental procedures are. But towards the end he did something that made an immediate pain that was so intense it literally took my breath away. He apologized and said that sometimes that happens but it'll be over in less than a minute. So he gave me a little break. It lessened slightly, but I was still blinded by the involuntary tears streaming down my face. The dental assistant was holding my hand and wiping my tears, telling me I was doing so good and that they were almost done. I actually think she was the only thing that kept me from blacking out. They finished the procedure and told me to come back in so many days to finish. The lady at the front desk was so nice, she apologized for the pain and asked if there was anything she could possibly do for me while she was scheduling me. I just tried to act like a normal adult and stop crying for a few minutes, and was able to walk out the door. In the 7 minute drive home I was weeping so bad from the pain that was not getting any better.
The pain eventually resided with time and meds, and my follow-up was coming. I figured it would be better because the infected, inflamed nerve was gone, and that the pain I experienced before was inevitable. So, with a fresh face I turned up so they could finish the work. Standard dental discomfort, until one point it started to hurt. Dr. Kindl told me that I wasn't feeling pain, just vibrations. After another minute, I stopped him and said, no, it was indeed pain. He obliged with a shot of lidocaine. After a few minutes he started again and the same thing. He insisted that my pain was simply vibration from the drill. I'm 30 years old, I think I know the difference between pain and vibration. I asked him to stop multiple times and he just said it was almost done. Again, the dental assistant was amazing, and very compassionate. The pain this time was nowhere near the intensity of the 1st time, but still not acceptable.
I have had extensive dental work done, including extractions (one even with no shots), so I've felt my fair share of dental pain. But never have I had a dentist so in-compassionate about it so as to deny the fact that a patient is in fact in pain. I had one who couldn't get the tooth fully numb due to an abscess that she stopped and sent me to an oral surgeon. I've never had someone who completely disregarded me like that. The other 2 dentists in the office I have no idea about. I just cannot imagine ever going to Dr. Kindl again.
