    Brown Builders Custom Homes Inc
We found Brown Builder to be wholly unqualified as a Custom Home Builder. Brown Builders did not seem to have a system for managing a large custom build project. His inability to plan, manage, and communicate led to numerous project delays, issues, and poor workmanship which needed remedied. The project ended up running significantly over the cost budget an running over the target time frame by months.   Brown Builders had very poor communication skills and when questioned about the project would become very defensive and combative. At one point we had not received a budget update for a number of months, when we asked for an update our request went unfulfilled until we later received a large invoice which lacked detail and indicated we had gone significantly over budget. We communicated that we fully intended to pay the invoice, but asked for supporting details. Brown Builders responded by pulling all workers from the project, in breach of our contract. We had to hire an attorney to get Brown Builders to comply with our contract.   Brown Builders has pictures of our home on his website which we find offensive. We could nearly go photo-by-photo and describe the issues we had to battle to try to make things right: (1) we had to hand scrub the wood floors ourselves for hours which were left unprotected during the build process (if you look closely in the pictures you can see the drywall dust and paint which had been ground into all the crevices of the wood floors), (2) the barnwood features he highlights in the photo’s were managed by us with no assistance from Brown Builders, (3) the built-in table he features in the photo was managed by us, (4) if you look closely at the photo’s you will notice the range hood vent which runs up the wall has about a 12 inch; gap at the top where it was supposed to abut the beam. We had to get this fixed with additional cost to us because Brown Builders provided the incorrect measurement originally and then took no responsibility, (5) the polished concrete basement floor had bare feet print in it from the workers, we had to battle with the sub directly to get this fixed, (6) they covered up an outlet with the beams in the ceiling and told us it was our fault because we said we wanted an outlet in the ceiling, (7) The decorative stamped concrete on the patio is a patch we had to argue about for months due to the poor finishing work… We have had subs from the project communicate to us that they do not intend to do work for Brown in the future. If you are looking for a builder we would recommend you stay away from Brown Builders. He was not an advocate or a partner of ours in our build process. It seemed more often he was an adversary who we had to try to manage around.

    All About Tile
This job required taking out old flooring and carpeting, prepping the floor and laying, grouting, sealing several areas.   I picked out what we wanted and Jon installed.  We were very happy and will use Jon again.

    RJ Chevie Builders LLC
RJ Chevie was awesome during the process of designing, planning, and building our new home. I spoke with a lot of builders in the central Ohio area (12 others), and Tom at RJ Chevie was the most sincere one I met with. From the first meeting my wife and I could tell that Tom was interested in us as people not as just one more customer. Creating this relationship is key because building a home from the ground up is a long process and has a lot of stressful decisions. Everyone at RJ took the time to talk with us and respond quickly when we had a question. We chose to design the house from basically scratch and they walked us through the process, and had excellent advice from their years of experience.
The cost projections for the house were fair and I really believe we truly got what we paid for and more. With Tom's help we were able to stay on budget throughout the project. Since this was my first custom build I wasn't prepared for how much individual items like lighting cost for a whole house. Although our projected budget covered the essentials, I would have added a little more in a few areas: lighting, cabinets, carpeting. In the end we definitely got everything we wanted and it looks awesome.
We made a few changes to the home during the construction process, and because RJ stayed in constant contact with me I was able to work the change in without a lot of pain or delay. They always called me when a major process was being scheduled way in advance so that I could talk with them about expectations.
Factoring in delays from weather the build was completed on time. RJ Chevie powered through one of the worst/coldest winters I can remember to get things done. They are really dedicated to making you feel in control of the whole project, rather than some contractors I've worked with that make you feel beholding to them. The workmanship for the house is very professional and well done, my wife and I often comment how we never thought we could afford to live in such a nice home. I've heard horror stories of contractors using questionable subs, but everyone who worked on our house was top notch and knew what they were doing. There hasn't been anything that I've said: "what were they thinking when they did that?"
During any home build you'll have a few things that need adjusted after completion, RJ has been very responsive and timely to correct any changes that needed addressed. There was no haggling or hand wringing, Tom simply evaluated the issue and got it done by a professional.
Overall I'm VERY satisfied with the end product, our home and even more pleased with the customer service from RJ Chevie. There are a ton of builders who can get a house built. I'd be very surprised though if they could match the positive experience I had with RJ. Sure we had some stressful days, and some wrenches thrown into the process that seemed huge. Tom worked with us on a personal level to overcome the obstacles, and always talked us through the solutions. In the end building a house is more than materials and time, its a journey over a long period of time. You need to work with people you can trust and RJ Chevie gives you the confidence that things will get done right.

I had some roof damage that needed to be fixed so I worked with John Wallen from Ohio Builders to inspect our roof and provide an estimate on overall damage.  His inspection revealed there was extensive damage to the roof and he worked with us and our insurance company to get the claim processed and approved.  Working closely with the insurance company engineer to ensure the damages were understood and quantified during their inspection.  Their professionalism and work ethic was top notch.  They completed the job on time and on budget and their quality was superb.  Very steep pitched roof with many peaks and valleys, no issue for the installation team.  Quality workmanship!  Cleanup process afterwards was very good as well.  I would recommend them highly for any roofing job.

We have had so many problems with the home after Walker's "1 year warranty" ran out, and which he refused to stand behind, that I felt compelled to write this review. Starting with the largest, our home has an exterior of stone and stucco 360 degrees around the house. Last spring, I noticed that the water table, (separates stone from stucco), was crumbling around the house. Upon closer inspection, I noticed the stone work around the window well was also crumbling. I then noticed that there were a number of horizontal and vertical cracks along the exterior wall of the stone. It took three times trying to call Walker to get him to come out and look at the problem before he responded. When he did call me back and I explained the problem, he stated that I had a one year warranty and there was nothing he would do. I then had an attorney send him a letter threatening legal action before he and his sub-contractor finally came out and inspected the problem. He said that the sub-contractor they used for the water tables had so many of these problems that they went out of business. Therefore, there was nothing that he or his insurance would be responsible for. I went ahead and made all the necessary repairs for a total cost of $13,000. In discussing with my attorney, we thought we had a strong case, but attorney's fees to pursue it would exceed recovery value. I guess if your roof fell in after 5 years and defective material was the cause and his sub went out of business, good luck!

We have had many other problems with the house that we did not even bother to ask him to cover. Some but not all are listed for the purposes of this post to give readers an idea what they are dealing with. We have had to put two new motors in the furnace, two repairs to hot water heater, filled cracks in basement wall, new sump pump ( cheap according to plumber). air conditioning unit Freon leak, plumbing coming out of house for irrigation system was not to code and had to be replaced, roof not vented properly over mast bath, sliding glass door to patio found to be defective, inferior interior painting, plumbing leak under sink, and numerous appliance problems.

I guess my point to potential buyers of Olympus Homes is to get a thorough inspection and make sure your attorney writes your warranty contract.

My husband and I did our research before choosing a builder. We had heard about Regent's great reputation, but were even more impressed when we had a chance to meet Dave in-person. Regent is all about providing quality and value by doing things the right way, the first time.
We had a chance to meet other Regent homeowners before beginning the building process. Everyone we spoke to confirmed what we suspected: Dave has very high standards when it comes to his work, and those are reflected in every detail of a Regent Home. Dave's pricing of the homes was spot-on. He provided us with his cell phone number in the beginning and were assured that he'd be available if ever we needed him. We didn't, thanks to his remarkable staff.
Sarah, who works in the office, responded to my e-mails so quickly that I had to ask her to stop responding on weekends because I wanted her to enjoy her time with her family. She kept us updated as we made changes to plans and was infinitely helpful in helping us keep track of how much everything was going to cost (and the estimates were always right on the money). Jim, who is the general superintendent, is truly a Jack-of-all-Trades, and has helped us even after we have closed on the house to make sure that everything is just right. In Jim's absence, Ryan, the project manager, responded to my e-mail within 15 minutes on a Sunday afternoon to let me know that he would address a concern I had 1st thing on Monday morning. Everything was resolved by 9am. Stephanie helped us choose the fittings and colors for our home. When we weren't sure what we wanted, she helped us make selections that were beautiful and true to our style. We really feel like our house reflects on who we are.
The exacting quality Regent Homes represents is so evident that we are continually complimented about the beauty of our home. Even as little things have come up (as they always do with new builds), Regent is right there to make things right, right away. When they cannot solve a problem directly, they help us follow-up with the appropriate people to make sure that the job gets finished right away. Quality is never compromised to save a few dollars in building costs, and it shows.
Although I do not think we'll be moving for a very, very long time, I would build another house with Regent in a heartbeat. I could not be happier with my new home.

    Gossing Construction
The project was lengthy as expected. The crews were experienced craftsmen, polite and easy to work with and around.
The professional project mangers were very easy to work with. Discussions between all concerned resulted in good ideas and changes during the building process..  The finished remodel and addition exceeded my expectations.

I lost my home to a fire in early Oct.
I hired Mr. DeCenzo to do the demo of the damaged home and
to hook up utilities to a mobile home I had put on my property.   He was paid over $20,000 for
    these services.
The demo was never completed as detailed on the
estimate.  I paid him before the
completion because he told me he needed the money to get the dumpsters picked
up which sat on my property for weeks.
He also did not hook up the utilities as I asked.  Wrong equipment was installed and had
to be removed.  Nothing was well
thought out and a number of things had to be changed at additional costs at a
    later date.
Even with all of this Mr. DeCenzo thought he was also going
to be awarded the build of my new home.
He sent me a bid, as did 4 other custom homebuilders. His bids were very
vague and the prices were astronomical. The other builders gave very detailed
    bids with line item pricing.
After letting Mr.DeCenzo know I decided on another builder I
was sent an invoice for $4,400 for work I did not ask for and for work he said
he did and completed but he did not.
The final straw was he then filed a contractors lien against
me for the $4,400.  Contractors can
do this with no proof or justification. The saving grace is that I learned
about him on the mobile home and not on the build of my real home.
It is unbelievable that he would do this to someone who lost
their home and all their possessions in a fire.

    Schumacher Homes
We chose them because they had big selection of work plans.  They customized the work plans to fit our needs as well, which was really great for us.  They were really good to work with.  They worked well with land alleviation and getting the permit status.  They did an excellent job.  They actually finished a month and a half early on our house, which was completely unexpected because of the initial delay that we had.  They got it done very quickly.  They itemized everything and every detail of the house, so we knew exactly what we were getting and what everything was costing.
