Double Tilt Sash & Door Co.

This was Double Tilt's second time to this house to install windows.  First time went well, when they installed 5 windows.  I called them back to install 3 more windows. To save money I agreed to do all siding removal prior to them coming out and reinstall siding after they were done.  Two individuals came out to do all three windows.  It took them about 5-6 hours.  Windows look great compared to what was in there before, which I believe was original to the house and 25+ years old.  Good quality windows and quality installation.  We have four more windows to replace in the house--we'll be looking to use Double Tilt again for these.

    WINDOW DEPOT DAYTON

I was extremely impressed by Rick and Adam the consultants when they came to our house on the 10th of the month to present there product to my wife and I. They had sample of there windows and there presentation was very informative. This was the third and final estimate that with the had scheduled. We thought we were going with the first estimate that had come to the house but Window World had a get $70 off each triple pane window instead of the double pane. It included foam filled windows and the first estimate didn't. The cost was only $200 more for the triple pane window from Window World but we got triple pane instead of double.

The order went in on 10th and the windows came in on the 19th and they put the windows in on 23rd, The installation by Tim and Jim was amazing!! They were very organized and did an excellent job in installing our ten double hung windows. My wife and I are extremely overjoyed with our new windows Thanks Window World !!!

Double Tilt Sash & Door Co.
Double Titl came highly recommended from some friends of ours, so I felt comfortable only calling them to quote the windows we needed replaced. They prefer to have both spouses in the house for the sales pitch, but I was unable to make it due to work. They met with my wife and went over options for the windows we wanted replaced. We were looking to something very inexpensive, so we may not be in this house for very long. The salesman demonstrated how much heat/coolness was being let in through our existing windows, due to them having a very low (to non-existant) R rating. He then showed the difference with the windows they'd be installing if we choose them. Ideally we would have liked to replaced all the windows in the house, but we didn't want to make that large of an investment at this time. Pricing does not change depending on how many windows you have put in--so no volume discounting, which was fine, because I felt like we were getting a good price on the windows.
We went ahead and placed the order. They came back out to the house to confirm the measurements and collect a 1/3 down deposit. The windows took around 6 weeks to come in, and due to being heavily booked they were able to make it out around the 8th or 9th week. This didn't upset me too much, if anything, to me its a good sign when a company has so much business that they make take a little bit longer to schedule you... this is usually an indication that they do quality work.
Their crew was about 30 minutes late coming out the morning that we scheduled the install. This ended up being okay because I had agreed to take down the siding and blinds around the windows before they got there, and I was running a little behind myself. I'd also agreed to put back up the siding after they were finished, because I was going to need to re-cut the J-channeling around the windows. I'm always interested in learning more about DYI stuff and they were happy to entertain me and give me the step-by-step on what they were doing when I asked questions. For windows that are decent shape they do donate them to churches in a third world country (I don't remember the details exactly), but I appreciated that they took the time to take care of the windows they were taking out to help someone else.
To remove and install 5 windows it ended up taking about 4-5 hours. We were very happy with the end result of their work. They gave us instructions on how long to wait to use the windows, and instructioned us to give them a call if we felt any air leaks after a couple of days. We did notice a small pin-hole leak on one window, but I've been to busy to call them to come check it out. They left a tube of caulk with me (mainly for the J-channeling) so I may just fix it myself. We would definately work with Double Tilt again.

    TaylorMade Restoration
Ryan is a very personable man who makes a good sales pitch but hires the wrong subcontractors. Everything went fine until we raised a concern on the way siding was installed. The job started with one group of subcontractors who lasted about a week but unfortunately they were the ones to mis-measure and order the windows for the whole house. Second subcontractor seemed robe on the ball and showed up daily on time to work. However, they eventually stopped showing up and disappeared off the face of the earth with our wood trim that was to be installed around a picture window. To Ryan's credit, he paid for the wood trim to be replaced on that window. We had to pay for trimming the inside frame of the windows that were mismeasured and were told by Ryan that it was our responsibility to pay for this. Three quarters of the new windows had 2-3 inch gaps between bottom of window and the window sill but Ryan told us this was normal and within acceptable limits and would not replace them. Two windows are not installed correctly and are extremely difficult to lock. One window doesn't stay up and is a hazard to my children. Nice quality windows for the price we paid though. Ryan has a tendency to have his subcontractors call you instead of taking care of things himself. Our home looks nice but I feel the customer service we received was not good. Ryan hasn't even come to the house to review the work that was done, even though we asked him to do so. We made the mistake of trusting Ryan and signing off early on completion papers for the bank so he could be paid. Lesson learned. There are a few things .... mentioned above ..... that we expected to be perfect and they are not. It would have been nice for Ryan to address our concerns instead of ignoring us. At one point, he told me the work that was done was sufficient and we had no legal recourse against him. In the end he made up for a bit of our anger by paying for the trim replacement but I would not use him again.

    Ginter Siding and Windows
Mr. Ginter provided excellent service. I had another contractor who walked out on my siding job halfway through completion. This was due to the complicity of my back deck and the electrical wiring coming to my house. I also wanted two sliding door replacements and two window replacements. Mr. Ginter had no problems with my back deck and electrical issues, and was especially helpful in working within my budget. At one point he suggested switching out my outdoor lighting since he was going to have to take it down and put it back up anyway (mine was kind of crappy, so it was nice to buy new and not have to call out an electrician later). He also switched out some of my gutters and fixed a hole he found after taking my siding down that a raccoon created. I had a time frame in mind for the work being completed, because I was hosting a big family party in the end of October in my backyard. It rained, and rained, and rained some more. Mr. Ginter and his helper put in quite a bit of weekend and late evening hours to get my work done in time for my party! I will definitely be calling him for my next set of replacement windows. Everything looks great! On another note, my large dogs wanted him to adopt them.
