    Vetdecks
I was very pleased with how quickly they showed up and completed the job. My old deck needed some structural work, as well as cosmetic. Everyone was very polite and professional. I would definitely hire them again. Good work(ers) is hard to come by these days.

Home Exteriors Roofing, Siding and Windows
Home Exteriors was the first of many contractors we received quotes from. Initially we were unsure about the quote we received from home exterior. We werent even thinking that the wood deck needed to be replaced due to the mold. But Gary spelled out why, the quote, and their philosophy. They are very responsive and called us back to check how our quotes were going and if we had questions. Then the parade of sheisters came and went. From roofers to window companys (their the worst) giving us their quotes. Prices reaching as high as 15k over HE quote. Some recommended keeping the wood deck and they would use a spray for the wood (not a quality job). But Gary advised against putting new shingles on compromised wood and he was right. So we went with them and they kept their quoted amount, did a high quality job, kept the timeline, thorough clean up, windows were nicely installed and all of their workers were great! This is a really great contractor, dont waste your time and money with anyone else!

    NRC Fence & Deck Co.
NRC Fence installed an aluminum rail fence in my backyard on June 20th, 2018, they did NOT install one gate and fence post. The owner Bill Sinclare said the gate was on order and would be in "next week" it took one month to get the gate installed. The gate and fence post was installed July 16th. A fence without a gate is useless. I could have bought the gate from Home Depot and received it in six days. NRC should not have started the job if they didn't have all the material or they should have installed a temporary gate. If I had known this would happen I would have signed with a different contractor.

    NRC Fence & Deck Co.
It was awful they first put the deck up to high and to lower it the loosened the deck and took a saw zall and cut the boards down to lower the deck part instead of installing new boards which I feel weakened the structure I have never seen a deck built the way they did they ran supports cross way and nothing on the four corners just left them stick over with no supports . They left the bottom all the way around the deck wide open so critters could have easily gotten under it and made a home .I ended up buying all the material and done the labor to close it up .They were supposed to come and replace some deck boards and straighten out the hand rail sections that had warped and never returned needless to say I still owed them like 350.00 and I did not let them have it .They were supposed to put a small fence up which I cancelled because it took them forever to come and do the deck and no mention as to when they would do the fence. My suggestion is do not deal with these folks as the owner can be very rude with you if things don't go his way and he forgets half of what he includes in the contract.

    The Ultimate Deck Inc.
Owner Keith is knowlegable and has built many quality decks. This does NOT mean you will get the same. In my case he over-promised and underperformed in almost every aspect considering how simple a deck project this was. Hes a BS-er likes to talk. This distracts from staying on point or addressing concerns. Promised to knock my 12 X 12 maint-free with railing in two days after getting permit. I had concrete patio guys waiting to schedule based on deck completion and 3 weeks after permit, still no deck. After I became more adamant that further delays would cause me to lose my concrete contractor plus had a graduation party in 3 weeks they finally dug some post holes then disappeared for 6 more days. He nor his crew guys had any details on what they were supposed to build despite Keith and I having several meetings and a contract. I had to go over the design again. The day they started Keith informs me the color decking I contracted for was not in stock, was a 1-2 week special order. So he purchased a darker in-stock color. I had to accept that or be screwed on time. It wasnt terrible but I was peeved NOT what we agreed. Ill summarize rest of issues here: Very novice 2-man crew, rough cuts, sloppy drilling, platform step from door was wrong needed re-done. Railing not extended fully (???) along one side and needed redone. Corner angled step was cut too narrow to be useful. The deck surface was built with a pitch towards the back yard. (Decks are supposed to be LEVEL). The rails were built square to the deck surface. This caused all the spindles to apper slanted. NOT a good look. A seasoned crew member came out to work with the other guy and I had spindles all adjusted to appear perpendicular to the eye. Keith knew this was not a quality finished product. Gave me a discount on the final payment. Id rather have a quality built deck without the stress of having issues every step of the way. In fairness almost all (fixable) problems were fixed and unless you look closely you don't notice the rough workmanship. But the process was unsatisfactory. Color availability issue unprofessional.

    Higham Construction
Bill and his crew did a great job! Bill is very easy to work with and he takes the time up front to really understand what you want. He also offered to hang our porch swing when they finished and we couldn't be happier with the deck and roof!

    Elyria Fence Inc
They told us it could not be done and quoted us to remove our neighbor's fence, instead. Even if we wanted to remove our neighbor's fence, we would not have paid as much money as they quoted us. It was pretty clear they didn't want the job.

    Borowske Builders Inc
My wife and I decided to add a roof over part of our patio. We went to the Cleveland NARI Home Show and spoke with several contractors. I got the impression from some that they really didn't seem to be that interested in doing our project. I met Don's son at their booth and he gave me his undivided attention and genuinely seemed to be interested in what we wanted. Also, his ballpark estimate was more reasonable than many of the other contractors. A couple of months later when my wife and I decided to proceed with the project, Don came out and spent as much time as was needed to discuss what we wanted and made some great recommendations on the design and what options we could do. Also, his price was very reasonable and all though I had not yet gotten a final quote from anyone else, he was much less than the ballpark figures I got from other contractors at the show. We originally scheduled for a 2-3 week project starting at the end of June - beginning of July. He called me at the beginning of June and had gotten an opening in his schedule and was able to start the project early, thus allowing for the project to be completed 2 weeks ahead of the original schedule. The work itself is awesome. The roof is attached and the siding matches my existing home siding. It looks like the roof was originally built with the house. He also put in an outdoor fan/light and wired a control switch in the house that makes it easy to use the light/fan. I have dealt with other contractors before and the one main thing that stood out more than anything was his communication. 80% of the time he answered the phone when I called and if I got voicemail and left a message he usually called back within 1-2 hours. He always let me know when they would be out to work on the house and I never had to guess "where are my contractors!" This is true professionalism!. I would use Borowske Builders again! A+++++

    SpecialScapes
Warning: My deck was built without a blueprint. SpecialScapes built my deck and it was a painful experience. There were several issues...the foreman did not use the blueprint that the owner (Jay) created. My husband and I sat down with Jay and talked through our design. Because the foreman didn't use the design we discussed, the deck posts had to be torn out multiple times due to lack of symmetry. To top that off, Jay did not volunteer to rip out the posts and redo the lack of symmetry, he tried to use "band-aid" fixes, such as building posts that were only for aesthetics but not cemented in the ground. This obviously didn't look right and ultimately had to be redone. As the customer, we felt extremely uncomfortable because it required a lot of "pushing" to get the job done right. Jay sat down with us and admitted that he did not handle this job properly. They did not show up when they said they were going to, they built the deck wrong and the gates are uneven. We ultimately agreed that the project was 'as good as it was going to get' and we paid the company. Now, fast forward a few years (my deck was built about 3 years ago), the gates on the deck that I paid $500 for (each) are sagging even more and the railings are warping. We had a tree come down on our property and we need repair work done. SpecialScapes came out and quoted us in February and said they could do the work the following week. It is now 7/18/16 and they still have not done the work and they will not return our phone calls. This is an extremely unprofessional company. I would spare yourself the headaches and time, and use another contractor for your building needs.

    R Hammond Construction

We attempted to replace our front porch but after removing all of the old boards we realized we were in over our heads and that's when we went on Angie's List and found R. Hammond Construction. Rick Hammond first visited our home and explained what needed to be done and gave us an estimate for the work.  A few days later a team from R. Hammond came to do the work exactly as Rick described, and they were very professional and the quality of workmanship was excellent.  They came when they said they would, completed the job on time as promised, and cleaned everything up when the work was done, leaving us with a beautiful front porch.   Rick followed up within a couple of days to inspect the finished project, and we were very happy with the results and plan to call on Rick Hammond and his team again for future projects.
