Health Care Facility reviews in Dublin

We were told to bring our own walker to our surgery, so we were lugging that and I was pushing my husband in wheel chair at the same time.  Every hospital room had a walker so I fail to see why we had to bring our own with us and at the time of surgery too. After surgery when my husband was taken to a regular room he was told not to get up on his own but he did not react well to the anesthetic and the drugs afterwards and was totally out of it.  He did take several falls and the staff (nursing) then chided him for being a "bad boy" and a troublemaker".  I thought this was totally unprofessional behavior and was unacceptable.

On a practical level it was sometimes very difficult to get through on the telephone to their food service provider to order a meal.  Family members can also order meals (which is nice) but on the day of his discharge they misplaced my meal and it was cold by the time they "found" it.

I had back surgery at Dublin Methodist about 5 years ago and also did not have a great experience.  If we had another back to fix frankly we would have to find a surgeon who operated somewhere other than Dublin Methodist.

My husband was referred to Select from OSU for treatment of an infection.  He was getting better when he went in.  When he left in November it was to hospice to die.
Individually, each person I dealt with was nice.  Their charting was bad.  The doctors do not return calls in a timely manner.  The people in medical records NEVER return calls.  It was very difficult to reach the case manager, until a new one was assigned to us.  Verbal reports from nurses were unbelievably poor.  When I asked, ?What is my husband?s condition,? the response I received was ?Fine.?  ?What is his pulse??  ?Normal.? ?Can he talk to me on the phone?? ?Well, he?s on the IV now.?  The insurance company was lied to about the treatment he received and the treatment he had agreed to.  The food was terrible.  They took more x-rays and CT scans than you could believe.  They never told me they were going to perform tests and rarely discussed the results with me.  If urine was spilled on the mats next to my husband?s bed, those mats could stay there for a week without being changed.  My husband is a vegetarian and untold times mashed potatoes with beef gravy were sent to him for a meal.  The floor appeared to be understaffed, so my husband could wait more than 30 minutes for someone to assist him with going to the toilet.  I asked for a podiatrist to see my husband for three months.  I was always told ?No problem.?  One  never showed up.  It took three months to get someone to shave him and cut his hair.  No one ever did cut his fingernails.  The aides were very pleasant and helpful and overworked.  The higher up you go, the more unhelpful people get.  If you love someone, in my opinion, keep them the h*** out of Select Specialty Hospitals.

We had Jimmie who was wonderful. He was very responsive and answered all my questions. I emailed him at 8pm a few times and he responded almost instantly. I even joked with him he should take a vacation! He worked very hard and went well above and beyond to answer all my questions. I am very grateful. My family is fully covered. I would highly recommend!

Our doctors deliver there so that is kind of why we went to Dublin Methodist Hospital. We kind of picked our doctor from the hospital and they delivered that. It is just that we really love that hospital. It is close to our home. The reason for me to recommend this hospital to a friend who is about to deliver a baby would because of the smaller comfortable feel at the hospital and the services provided by the nurses were really great. They were able to attend to the patients needs. I loved it. They were great for the staff friendliness.

It sometimes takes a week or more to get to medications out. I was not pleased. Working with people has been very difficult too. I ran out of a medication and it was something I really needed but they didn’t seem to care.

They were always quick to send out the prescriptions I needed. They were willing to send me a week’s supply when I ran out of a medication on short notice.  Everything was great with this company except the pricing. They would sometimes to call back to verify things afterwards to make sure things went great.

The facility is amazing, far less waiting than I expected, and the people were wonderful that I spoke to. However, their billing is atrociously bad. You visit the ER and get multiple bills from all over the place. You provide your insurance information to the hospital but it is magically lost by the various entities and companies that are going to send you bills. It's up to you to contact them and request that they bill your insurance company first. Further, you have one week before they send you to a collection agency for even the smallest bill. Don't even think about waiting 30 days to pay after insurance has processed it because by that time, they already have you as a late-pay in their system. Of course, it's not your fault that the hospital took 45 days to bill the insurance company and the insurance company took 45 days to pay, but you're 90 days late by the time they send you the bill for the final amount.

    A truly awesome experience.
Bob Williams, broker, went above and beyond to find me the best policy I could afford. He completed the application with me over the phone the day before I needed coverage and I was able to get next-day coverage. During our many calls, I had several interruptions where he was kept on hold or I had to call him back. He was extremely patient during all of this. I was very impressed with Bob's knowledge regarding the many available options and being able to explain them to me without getting too technical or lengthy. This truly was one of the best customer service experiences I've had in a long time. I highly recommend this company and hats off to Bob for an A+ job!

The hospital staff was friendly and knowledgeable. They made us feel comfortable and informed about each step in the process. It was definitely as positive of an experience as one could have at a hospital.

UHC provides good coverage and has some good services. Their nurse line is helpful and is always courteous.  Their billing statements are cumbersome and their appeals process is difficult and seems to be designed to discourage customers from following through with their appeals.
