    UHC provides good coverage and has some good services. Their nurse line is helpful and is always courteous.  Their billing statements are cumbersome and their appeals process is difficult and seems to be designed to discourage customers from following through with their appeals.

    My experience with United Healthcare was good as a student at OSU. This was mostly because I only needed to be treated for allergies. The health provider wrote me prescriptions for medications and about 90% of the costs were covered by United. I paid the rest at the register and did not have a balance due after that. They also provided a 24 hour nurse line, which was really helpful when I twisted an ankle and wasn't sure if I needed to see a doctor. I called them and they basically helped me decide to not visit a doctor on a Sunday morning, which turned out fine because I wasn't that injured the next day. I would recommend this provider to anyone who is in their twenties without many health concerns.

    We've had mostly favorable experiences with our health insurance provider.  My only complaint is I'd like to be notified if providers are out-of-network by the provider and I don't like needing to look it up first - especially in emergency situations which we had one recently.  Our costs were obviously very high in that case.  That said, most providers we want to see are in network.  Customer service is good when I have called and their website is decent at providing the information I need.

    I had hip replacement surgery in May. I walked out of the hospital with literally no bills to pay. I carry a supplemental policy for myself as well as for my peace of mind knowing that my children will not have to be concerned with medical bills on my behalf.

    Every time that I have called the customer service line for Aetna, I have spoken to someone who was courteous and helpful.  I would say that the times I had to wait to speak to a representative was short to reasonable.  I have not had a need for a lot of insurance coverage since I started with Aetna in March of this year.  Most of my insurance interactions have been for well visits.  I have had no billing issues with Aetna.

    UHC's online account management system is very good and eliminates most contact with the company directly. The few times I have had to call, the representatives have been helpful. Getting through the automated voice message system can be frustrating. Overall for an insurance company, UHC is good.

    All my interaction with My Health Quoter was through phone calls and email. I worked with Christina, who was very knowledgeable and responsive. We had one phone call at the beginning, in which I explained why I was seeking private health insurance, and she asked me a few questions about my health. Within a day, I had an email back from her listing dozens of insurance plans from well known and reputable insurance companies. I went through them and selected the plan which best fit my needs and budget. She answered all my questions, and led me through the online application. I was able to make my first payment online, too, which activated my insurance plan. The service at My Health Quoter exceeded expectations, and I have already recommended them to a couple of my friends.

    Nationwide Health Plans
    I've sent a termination letter to Nationwide twice. Nationwide made no attempt to question or deny anything in the letter, and I have no reason to believe anything has changed since then. I also informed the Ohio Department of Insurance and the Better Business Bureau then. Neither of them took any apparent action. As fas as I am concerned, the matter is now closed, and I do not intend to deal with Nationwide again. However, other members might benefit from this information.
