Counseling & Mental Health reviews in Delaware

The invitation to sit in on my spouses session was not what turned out to be. She had previously seen our 2 adult children under the same umbrella of gaining family perspective without my presence Both my children have stated that it had nothing to do with helping their father but everything to do about me. From the moment i entered it was an all out ambush she called me a monster saying that my spouse and children had said that in later discussion with them the stated that what they said and what she told me was twisted around and not what they verbalized. My spouse an i have been separated since April 2016 at which time we were trying to see if we could work on the relationship she counseled my spouse to date outside the marriage which contributed more to our relationship demise. In seeing her individually the season left me distraught and basically fractured given the fact that this person is a mental health professional and given my own background in medicine i took what she said to be truth.
during those two sessions i realized that before i entered her office she had already formulated a bias opinion and her clinical perspective was tainted with never knowing me. I was verbally attacked in front of my spouse to which later he admitted to was wrong but felt bullied into remaining silent when i turned to him for support , she accused me of alcoholism said that i was a monster and told me that i was and abuser a word she used several times. She used profanity and basically wanted not to hear nothing from me in trying to talk with her she shut me down and refused to hear any background into my history. I am not a drinker outside of socializing i have never abused my kids that i was strict yes. My husband has refers to her and he as a we and in November 2015 she demanded that my husband issue me an ultimatum saying that i was to see her as a patient or our marriage was done, i refused and she sent the name of two other therapist that i was to contact or else my husband an i were done an it had to be a gestalt therapist or nothing. In my fragile state of mind i acquiesced in the hopes of salvaging a relationship with my spouse.
.tI agreed to see one of the recommendations under great duress and fear. Her ill advise to have my husband date turned into a nightmare as the person he connected with turned out to be an extortionist and stalker. Several months ago she ran into our son in a restaurant and spoke to him about a confidential matter in regards to our stalker incident my spouse had shared with her in therapy. This therapist has clearly violated not just rules of professional conduct but patient confidentiality as well. My experience with her has left me emotionally scarred and fractured no one should ever enter a therapy session and leave feeling abused and broken. In my research i came across the another review on this site and was horrified to learn that she has done this before. I will not tell my spouse what to do but i cannot in good conscience keep silent. I state for the record that my spouse is aware and that although we share this site under his name he has no responsibility for what i have stated in this review.

For me she was perfect. Basically, my sister was diagnosed with cancer and she was close to me so I knew it was going to be a problem for me. She was still alive when I started counseling because I was concerned I was going to need help through it and she did.
I've been to a number of counselors and you sort of know when you've got somebody that's good to work with you in particular. Basically, there was no playing around it was pretty much to the point. If I ever need to go back I certainly would. I didn't want someone that was going to take hours I wanted someone that would give me some ideas on how to get through things. That's what she helped me with.
There was no staff. I walked up into a room and she came and got me.

    Meers Inc
I was a patient of Dr. Meers for a year. She is very kind and does a good job listening; however, it became evident that she was applying her religious faith to my sessions. Being an athiest I found this to be very counterproductive and frustrating. At one point she told me that many of my problems stem from having no faith in God. What?!? She is very nice but our views just don't match enough for me to benefit from her. I guess I should have been tipped off by the various angel decorations around her office.

In the office, they were great. We got seen right away and the doctor was really good. He prescribed medicine because my husband was in pain. He referred us to another doctor for follow-up. His assistant was very helpful and knowledgeable. She said she would take care of our prescription. They said they would call it in. They didn't provide us with a written, physical prescription. They said the prescription would be ready for us once we got back to Delaware, but it wasn't. It's now 2 weeks later, and we are still waiting for the prescription. I have been calling and calling. Everyone was pleasant, but not helpful. I am disappointed. My husband is still in pain and having muscle spasms. Now we are trying to get a prescription from our family doctor.

Doctor is great - staff leaves something to be desired.
At my last appointment about 2 months ago, I was promised a referral to another specialist. I have had to make 5 followup phone calls since then - and I still don't have my referral. At that appointment I was also told that I could have the pharmacy call their office for a refill for a medicine I was taking, as I was unsure how many refills I had remaining. This is not a schedule 2 drug that requires paper presecriptions and is limited to a 30 day supply - this is a common drug that can be written with 12 refills. I tried to get this refilled last week. The pharmacy called Dr. Delphia's office - and was apparently told first I wasn't a patient, and then told that I needed to come in for an appointment before the prescription could be faxed in. I called Dr. Delphia's office about this yesterday, and was asked in a conversation which pharmacy was my pharmacy. I confirmed the pharmacy for her. When I called the pharmacy today - they had still not heard from Delphia's office. I run out of medicine in 2 business days, so I am desperately hoping it can be called in successfully before then. I was able to accept that it was common the office phone went to voicemail, and able to accept that I would never have an appointment that would start on time - but months of begging for my referral and now this refill situation have proven to be the last straw.

She has a bachelor's degree and master's degree in social work. She is incredible and she is totally focused on the patient. She is a great listener and warm. She makes kids very comfortable. She is highly recommended in this area. She is very professional and we have never been to a specialist like this.

She is sweet, gives you plenty of time, her personality is really warm and makes you feel comfortable.  You can ask her anything and she answers and doesn't rush you through.

Overall it was a great program. The former director mismanaged funds and put the entire center at risk, and one of our favorite counselors was fired.
