    Hartford Services LLC
We hired Dave Hartford in September of 2017 after he came out and gave an estimate and told us he could start our job in around 3 weeks. We paid him a little over half down ($5,250). He ordered materials that sat in our garage all winter long. He kept saying he'd start in a week or so but never did. We finally fired him on May 15 with nothing done. He was supposed to send invoices for the materials delivered to our house and pay us the difference as a refund but we are still waiting.

    Windows Doors & More
This did not go well.  The siding they installed was not secure; every time it got windy it would cause pieces to lift off.  For a while they would come back out at no charge to fix these pieces but more recently they've been charging for the repairs.  I've had 3 different contractors looks at the work and they have been amazed that the siding has stayed on as long as it has.  They were supposed to nail every foot to 1 1/2 feet, but only nailed every 4 to 5 feet.  They didn't secure anything around the windows either.  They were also supposed to install insulation board under the siding and they failed to do that correctly either.  They installed it half way to where they should have on one side of the house and not at all on the other sides.  I've had to use my home owners insurance to have the work redone but it's still quite expensive out of pocket. The siding is supposed to warranties not to fade or crack as well.  I found a hole in one of the pieces and asked them to come out to replace it.  They responded by telling me that the hole was probably created by a bird and that that fact made it not covered by the warranty.

Workers did an excellent job. Ever day when finished working they cleaned up everything. Lance Sherry did an exceptional job of answering all my questions and gave several options explaining each benefit. Will definitely recommend Mr Sherry to anyone.

    Wilhelm Home Improvement
Terrible!!!   From day one - The trim they put over the bay window looks terrible, it's buckled (Todd said he would be back in the spring to fix it and didn't), the siding and fascia is wavy, the gutters leak, the trim around the doors is coming off, the siding is not snapped in all around, trim is coming down, deck boards under the doors are not level and the thresholds under the doors is cracked.  They took 2 1/2 to 3 hour lunches, ran heaters in an open trailer the entire time, burned up electrical plugs in our outdoor barn and didn't offer to repair or pay for the repair.  Todd begged us to do the work for us and guaranteed that we would be happy.  What a joke!!!  Was given a gentleman's agreement in December of 2011 that he would be back in the spring to repair and complete the check list.  We have never seen him.  Computed the amount of special order siding incorrectly costing us over $500 in additional cost.  ALL IN ALL THEY DID A S***** JOB!!!

Badly. We were told we would be able to sign off on work before they left, but not completed to our satisfaction and company pretty much said tough luck we have done all we can do. House looks terrible from unsatisfactory prep before starting the painting and lots of missed spots and bubbles . They were punctual and worked hard when here, but did a bad job for us. I believe the job was too big for them, but they took it anyway and didn't have seasoned men on the job to help mentor, so the poor newbies did a poor job.

    Tiny Tom: The Chimney Sweep
September 2010, I had this company out to repair/ rebuild my chimney
from the roof up, install new fire brick in the firebox and a
chim-a-lator to replace my faulty damper. At that time we had weather
coating and water proofing applied to the repair work as suggested as
well as the tar pitch resealed. We were told that the weather proofing
would last 10-15 years and the water-proofing would last 5-6 years. The
work was done to my satisfaction, but they had left a mess consisting of
some broken chimney brick and mortar along the back and side of the
house. It wasn't too bad, but irked me since I had just refinished the
deck and they had dropped old brick onto the deck without protecting
it. I cleaned up the broken pieces (enough to fill a small bucket) but
tried to overlooked it since the work was satisfactory and the mess
I used them again in 2011 to sweep and inspect the
chimney. The men over and hour early, set up protection on my flooring
and performed the work quickly and to my satisfaction. I mentioned that
we kept smelling smoke (like back drafts) from the chimney even thought
the chim-a-lator was fully shut. They checked everything and no faults
were mentioned at that time. The price was $15 more than the preceding
    year, but still reasonable.
This past August (2012), I had them
out to do another annual cleaning and inspection. The men arrived 30+
minutes late and were not the same as the ones I had dealt with in the
past. These two already appeared dirty, walked across my wet lawn
instead of using the dry sidewalks and tracked in dirt, leaves, and
grass. They did not take as much care with keeping my interior free from
dirt when cleaning, putting down what looked like an over-sized black
garbage bag not nearly large enough for them and all of their filthy
equipment.. At one point they even had a brush come off in the chimney
while cleaning it and debated how they were going to get it out.
Accidents happen and I felt badly for them, but was still upset about
the mess and the original tardiness.
    What really sent up red
flags was that I was told that my weather/ water-proofing and tar
pitch all needed repair, for a fee of course, and that there was damage
to my fire brick and flooring. He was adamant about the repairs even
though I questioned them since they were completed by their company
less than 2 years prior. I told him that I would talk it over with my
husband and get back to them. I paid and they left. I had to clean the
fireplace, its doors, carpeting, and entry door from all the grime they
tracked in and through the house. I did not have this problem in the
Throughout the remainder of August and into September, I
continued to get calls from this company about the costly repairs that
they claimed needed to be done inside and out. After talking it over, we
decided that we would have them complete the tar pitch and we would get
a 2nd opinion on the claimed repairs needed inside. The next time that
they called I set up an appointment to have only the tar pitch
re-sealed. I was told a time and date (Oct 8, 11 am) and that if
something should come up and they couldn't make that time, they would
    call me in advance.
The time and date arrived.... no repairmen,
no call. I waited for over an hour before I gave up.. Close to an hour
    and a half later I get a call stating that they and quot;weren't sure what workand quot;
I was having done and that they and quot;wanted to do the interior and
exterior work together to avoid trips from Toledo to Defianceand quot;. Feeling
like I was being forced into a and quot;pressure sale, and quot; being promised a
discount if I had both done in one day and after being told that they
weren't coming, I quickly got off the phone.
After my experiences with this company this year I will NEVER use them again. They did not appear professional, the workers looked like ex-cons, and I don't like having to clean up after or be lied to or misled by my repair men. I have no trust in this company and do not recommend them to anyone.

    Professional Deck Restorations Plus
I called and he explained what they do over the phone. The next day they came over and gave me a free estimate. After a couple days of thinking about it I decided to do it and called them back. They came back a few days later and replaced the bad boards and striped the old finish off. They had my deck looking almost new.  The rain delayed the project a little bit because the wood had to be dry for them to sand. They got it sanded and came back the next day to apply the sealer. I couldn't be happier with how my deck looks now. At first i thought it was a little expensive, but after seeing the time they put in and the finished look, it was worth every it.

    Strait-Line Fencing
It went well, for the most part. They had neglected to find out where the cable and phone lines were buried. But, they had them repaired. The fence looks fabulous, however!
