FSuperior Lawn Care & Home Improvements1. Hired Donnie Holland 1 July Fired 18 July for not showing up to work when he said he would. 2. Garage entance door was scraped & bare minimum of 1/2 door was sanded down. No drop cloth was used & he did NOT clean his mess up. Back door to house was never scraped or sanded. 3. Privacy gate was to have 2 black brackets taken off & replaced with 3 steel brackets & their bolts. Donnie refused to take black brackets off & replace with new brackets & bolts & bandaid the black brackets & steel bolts which do NOT match & the gate now is worse off & is lopside & wont open or close right. The bolts he used came so far out the backside, that if I hadn't told him to cut those off, that were a hazzard, he would have never tiuched them. 4. Donnie was to repair plaster cracks in bedrooms, bathroom, kitchen, nook, and step area going outside. Repaired plaster cracks & skim coated back bedroom with wrong compound which means the cracks will be back again shortly, cracks were filled unevenly, same with skim coat. Skim coat is uneven & again wrong compound was used, not sanded or wiprd down, the room was left unfinished. He started on the 2nd bedroom & is same with plaster cracks he started. Never made it to the other rooms. 5. The wall paper wss to be torn down but is still left on wall, no plaster cracks were filled at all. The bathroom sink was torn out & thrown out into the back yard instead of disposed of, same with the panelling. I have no where but the kitchen sink to brush my teeth, wash my hand or face & yet no matter what I said to them NOT to wash their tools in the kitchen sink they continued to do so. They Fflled in a hole where a medicine cabinet was with drywall, it is uneven & nothing was done with correcting the matter. 6. Donnie is to build front steps, this never got started. 7. He was to repair the corner bricks on the house & concrete that had cracked & crumbled. He repaired it by putting a terracotta dye into a bucket of mortar that did NOT match the brick which was tan. He used "glue, mortar, & sand from my backyard. This cracked & recracked & the sand just crumbled timt after time. He refused to use the proper material's to fix the problem. Stoill is not corrected & unfinished. 8. The gutter at the top corner of the house need a V to catch the water coming from the roof. I told him i had the down spout which the gutter & down spout were large not small. So he still went out & bought all the materials, which i did NOT need, on my credit card, & put up the small one imstead of just getting what was needed. The V gutter is so small that he made, the rain runs down the roof & over the gutter. NOT into the gutter. 9. I said to Donnie I was going to put an old fashion screen dor on and, he would not let me. He said all you need is a handle. No matter what i said he wanted the easiest way out so he bought a screen door handle, installrd it & it won't stay latched! Another thing that doesnt work& was not wanted. 10. Not only did he talk me into paying for everytjing on my credit card, he bought himself & his 2 buddies supplies to work with. He bought a 5 or 6 gal can of paint for $107 which only needed 1 or 2 gallons of paint, mortar also in a 5 or 6 gallon can for which he didnt even use 1/3 to repair the brick & the piece next to it. He charged ul over $300 of things that were mostly NOT required for me to buy! And. When I fired him I told him to return evrrthing and the only thing he brought back was for skim coating a quick domething or other. I packed up all his tools and equipment, hsd him come to the house after 10 am & pickrd them up. In fact I didnt let him back in my house, I handed him his things out the back door. Im now in the process of seeing the prosecuting attorneys to see whst can br done to get money back. I feel as if I have been preyed upon so I tell you mow BEWARE, he does not know whst he is doing & has no responsibility to show up. One more thing, I hired an exterior painting company to paint my house. Donnie bullied them so badly by telling them they were doing things wrong I almost lost the contract, & the people he was bullying refused to return so, they hsd to have another team come out to paint the house, and they did a beautiful job!- James C.

ASuperior Lawn Care & Home ImprovementsWe were impacted by the recent tornado and needed to get a few critical items done quickly -- namely, a mailbox replacement and installation of temporary fencing so that our dogs could return to the property. Donnie responded promptly and showed up exactly when he said he would. He gave a fair estimate for the work to be completed, then stuck to that estimate for the price. The work was completed promptly and competently. In my experience, finding someone that hits all of these points at once is rare. Thank you, Donnie &crew - you made our post-tornado lives a little bit easier.- Jonathan S.

FThe Siebenthaler Company"With a veteran landscape design team, your project will be geared for success from the start!"...Words right off Siebenthalers website. My experience was horrible. An absolutely and unnecessarily humiliating experience that should be embarrassing for a 150 year old renowned organization like Siebenthalers. The deck and cards in the deck belong to them. Retired after 21 years in the US military I purchased my first home and contacted Siebenthalers regarding a complete yard renovation which also addressed flooding. The first Siebenthaler rep came out and suggested I (A) Install a dry creek bed diagonally across the middle of my back yard with decorative boulders or (B) sell the house [CARD 1]. Very discouraging options. Several of my neighbors/friends for whom Siebenthalers designed low cost & simple flower beds suggested I try them again. I contacted owner Robert Siebenthaler expressing my desire to have a different design planner visit. Second planner Jason Gebhardt came out and agreed severally the problem was fixable and selling the house wasn't on his short list of recommendations. He left promising to send design plans and associated costs to my email. Instead he left a voicemail suggesting I simply wasn't spending enough money and so Siebenthaler's wasn't interested [CARD 2]. He suggested I call someone else. What amount did I need to spend? Surely a complete yard reno with a budget of $10-$15,000 would be in the ballpark? Why wasn't I asked about my budget? I guess I just looked like I couldn't afford them somehow? Once again I reached out to company owner Robert Siebenthaler in hopes of an explanation. Robert informed me of their required $3500 minimum. [CARD 3] Here is a company who designed, planned, installed and STILL maintains $1200 flowerbeds at my neighbor's (and friends) homes walking away from $10-$15,000 budget...but why? Without explanation (much less an apology) I suspect the underlying answer lies somewhere in the following statement: I am a woman, a mother, a sister, a decorated retired military veteran of 21 years, a 10 year former law enforcement officer with a doctorate degree and I am Black. [my draw CARD 4] What about me, my home, their two (2) visits made them believe I couldn't "afford" their services? What about meeting me allowed Jason Gebhardt to (in his own words) refer me to "someone willing to work for less that $3500" never having asked my budget? These are rhetorical questions. Let's put the proverbial card deck away. HERE is the answer: Had Siebenthaler's been interested in me, the project or the budget they would have made the effort to send the promised email instead of summarily dismissing me as a client. They visited my home twice both times deciding whatever money I have just isn't enough. My optimistic personality still searches for a more reasonable, malleable explanation. If Mr Siebenthaler had one he has yet to offer it despite my reaching out to him. He has never reached out to me or cared enough to offer an explanation. My voice here and across social media could be replete with praise for a wonderful job well done instead of what you read here. Siebenthaler never gave me a chance to be his customer, to share my vision or budget. Siebenthalers did not want - does not need my endorsement or business. I'll end this sad review here: I hoped against hope that Robert Siebenthaler's family legacy and professional reputation would live up to their website claim to 150 years of professionalism. Instead his response was simply: "I understand. Have a nice day"...I.e. run along now and leave us where and with whom we are comfortable. Your business doesn't matter. I was so looking forward to their expertise and advice that would leave me with a beautiful front courtyard complete with benches and my American flagpole. Instead I am left to write this ugly but truthful review of how I experienced Siebenthalers in 2019. There are better, fairer and more professional companies - maybe smaller but definitely better companies to trust with your American dream. To Mr. Siebenthaler, my neighbors and I will still show up at your sales in Beavercreek. I hated writing this review more than you hate reading it. No one ever reads a book and says, "great content I just wish the cover had been different". No customer who asks your services should be made to feel unimportant. At least ask their budget before making hurtful and unprofessional assumptions that leave word of mouth customers feeling badly. If someone takes the time to share their experience with you try to offer a professional explanation and I bet it won't hurt to apologize...after all even Siebenthalers started small and with a worthy dream. Mr. Siebenthaler DO BETTER BECAUSE YOU CAN. Look at your staff and be honest: If you don't see enough color there hire some. Only cards in the deck can be played. Don't like the card? Take it out of the deck. The pictures below are "before". I will post "after" pictures when my newly hired contractor has finished. I think I'll be glad I didn't add a dry creek bed diagonally across the middle of my back yard or sell my home. I'll let you know what the total bill was, who did the work and how it went. Too many years in the military and law enforcement to put up with the nonsense of bigger than your britches Goliaths who disparage. My flag is still old glory red white and blue and my money? Green. UPDATE: Two days after completing review Siebenthaler literally parked in front of my home and planted one (1) a singular tree in my neighbor's yard for far less than the minimum. I would like that to be known and added to my review. This is a racist company and should be banned from advertising as a worthy company on Angie's List.- N H.

ADeck & Fence Renewal SystemsResponse to initial call, coming out to do estimate, and discussion of the estimate all went very well. Construction was held up because of a measurement error for the special -order fencing. Bob, the construction supervisor, was very responsive to phone calls and contacts throughout this delay and the entire process. It was a pleasure dealing with him as well as the on-site foreman Jeff.- PEGGY S.

FAffordable FenceWas promised a deck in 3 weeks, after 8 weeks the price went up because he hadn't included architect fees. When i asked for my deposit back, this builder agreed in writing. He never sent the refund and weeks later said he wanted to keep some of the deposit for his 'time'. He stopped responding to a Better Business Bureau complaint. 5 months later I still don't have the refund.- Cathy T.

ADeck & Fence Renewal SystemsStraightened out a leaning fence, replaced a gate, and changed out hardware on two gates. Some minor problems with communication prior to work being completed but, bottom line, the fence looks good and the one-man crew (Jeff) did a great job. I would use this company again and recommend them to family and friends.- Robert V.

CPotter Fence CompanyChose 5 foot black aluminum fencing, it comes as a "fence-in-a-box" from the fence making company (CourtYard). Potter does not make the fence, perhaps no local fence companies do. What you are paying them for that they supply is the labor. The estimate was given in April 2018, the completed fence with return visits and "fixes" was completed in August. Potter himself and one sales agent were very nice, that was the only good thing. The labor was mediocre to poor. Cement was dumped dry in the post holes and filled in, they rely on moisture in the ground and rain to make it harden. The fence line on one short section did not line up with the continuing fence on the neighbor's property, they miscalculated by half a foot. The front gate would not open beyond 2 feet, it hit the paving bricks, it took about 6 weeks for that to be fixed. The latch for the front gate was incorrectly mounted the first time and had to be moved, this left 10-11 extra drill holes in the gate posts. The workers left quite a bit of personal trash in the side yard when they left, easy for them to pick up but not done, bottles, candy wrappers, etc. The high-school kid who came and picked up the self-propelled hole digging machine ran it around like a race car driver and torn up sections of grass in our side yard and our neighbor's yard, now I'll be planting and watering grass seed for the fall. All of these were discussed on the phone with Mr. Daryl Potter. There was no decrease in the cost of the job offered for the mistakes, there is little oversight of the workers, it takes a long time to get the job done. I would choose another company next time.- Barbara G.

AArmor FenceThe fence looks great - I couldn't be happier! Jason had given a very fair-priced estimate and I was anxious to get my fence installed. He had said there was about a 3 week wait before he could begin. It ended up being closer to 6 weeks, but when I left him a message voicing my apprehension that it was taking too long, he fit me in immediately. It was worth the wait, I am very happy with the results, and would definitely use their services again.- Jeni M.

ADeck & Fence Renewal SystemsI contacted Deck and Fence Renewal Systems about adding a deck over our rear concrete patio. Bob Perkins, Construction Mgr., visited our home and made many helpful suggestions to help us decide how to best design a deck for our designated yard space. His knowledge of decks and his pleasant demeanor coupled with no high pressure convince us that this is the company we wanted to build our deck. In addition, the many positive reviews across several websites was another factor in our decision. Our deck was completed on schedule and was truly magnificent. We were overly impressed with the craftsmanship and attention to detail of the talented installer. The finished deck definitely exceeded our expectations. We were glad we chose Deck and Fence Renewal because they are specialists in what they do. Where other general contractors may do a couple of decks a year, D&F does this for a living. We would give them our highest recommendation.- Paul M.

AArmor FenceThe task was accomplished after we both awaited the weather to turn. The project was completed in a day and payment thereafter. No way to compare whether costs was too much or possibly too low, but satisfied with the work.- Aaron D.
