5 Tips to Get the Best Tree Service

Tree Service reviews in Cuyahoga Falls

    Linger's Lumberjacks
I was in need of getting a large oak tree cut down in my back yard. On 9/7 Nelson came out and gave me a quote of $1850. Due to that quote being the best quote I had received, and the glowing reviews here on Angies List, I decided to go with these guys. On 9/16 I called and talked to a woman and told her I'd like to take them up on their quote and set up a time to get this tree cut down. She said they're currently about 2 weeks out with all of their current work. I said that's fine, I just want to get it done sometime in the next 4-6 weeks. I mentioned that I'd like to be there for the job, and there are only certain days I can take off from work. So I gave her about 8 days over the next month that I could do. She took down those days and said ok, we'll call you the day before they can do it. Wait, hold up...I said I kind of need more of a heads up than 1 day to request off work. Can you give me a week's notice, or at least a couple days? She said they'd try, but due to other jobs that might take longer they can't guarantee anything. That should have been my first red flag that this is amateur hour. I've never dealt with a company that insists they can only give you a 1 day notice before they do the job. So the 2 weeks passed with no call, but just to be forgiving I gave them a whole month. Still no call after a month. On 10/15 I called and got their voicemail, so I asked for a call back so we can figure out what's going on. Still no call back. On 10/18 I tried again. Got their voicemail again, asked to know what's going on, said I'd need a call back by the end of the day or I'm going to have to go with somebody else. Guess what? No call back. So I wish I could give a review on the quality of the work, but I can't get these folks to return my calls. 5 weeks of wasted time waiting around for Linger's Lumberjacks to call me back is enough, I now have an appointment with another company to do this work.

    Backyard Stump and Tree Removal
Over the past couple years, I have used Backyard Stump and Tree Removal. Louis and his crew were very professional, dependable, courteous, thorough, honest and reliable. You can't find a better company to work with. I will continue to hire them for future tree removal and stump grinding.

    Linger's Lumberjacks
It went great. They were out the next day to provide an estimate. I agreed and then they said it would be a week or so to perform the work. To my surprise the trees were removed with a couple days. I would hire again

    Linger's Lumberjacks
Estimate done in June. They were able to get the trees down before a new roof was to be installed August. Put a bucket truck and crane in small back yard carefully along with a monster chipper. They took extreme care in lowering everything down and not dropping anything to rut up the yard. The employees were friendly, respectful, and above all very careful. Cleaned up as they went along. Their price was in line with other estimates, but the care taken was well worth it.

    Linger's Lumberjacks
Linger's removed a huge oak tree from my backyard. It was not in an easy location. It was close to the house, blocked my a neighbor's tree's branches, a foot from a deck and an outbuilding, with wires on either side of it. They showed up right on time, were very efficient and skilled in the removal, and cleaned up afterwards which even included blowing off the roof. They were also very careful to make sure that the crane was situated on my front yard an did not have to be in neighbors yard or on my driveway. They put mats down and I could barely tell where the crane had been. The only sign was the grass was matted a little. The crew was polite and friendly. There was a small mix up with firewood being cut, but Nelson made it right and more! I also had the stump ground out a week later. He was also wonderful, did a great job and even blew the sawdust off my deck when he was done.

    Jeff's Tree Removal
They really did an A+ job. I was home most of the time they were there, and they managed to work very quietly. They're extremely hard workers, worked quickly, and left the property looking seamless. I would highly recommend their services.

    Rice's Tree Service & Landscaping
Had them out for a quote in November. The price was good, so I mailed a deposit with the understanding the work would be done in the new year. Late January, I got the phone call that the work would be commencing shortly. On the day the work was to be done, I returned home from work and found the trees still standing. I got a call later that evening and was told that the work could not be done because of dangerous branches near utility lines and that I needed to have the lines cleared before Rice's could remove my trees. This was not mentioned in any way when the quote was provided and agreed upon. I guess I should have called a tree service. Oh, wait.... After getting the run around from the City and the phone company (as these were not power lines, but phone/cable/internet lines), I called Rice's in early March seeking to further discuss and resolve the situation, hopefully getting a better explanation. My call was never returned. Once the call was not returned, I sought other quotes and had the work done within a couple of weeks by someone else for roughly the same price. Oddly enough, there was no mention by the other company of the work not being able to be completed due to branches near the lines. Guessing Rice's either drastically underquoted or subbed it out to an unqualified crew and couldn't admit they screwed up. At least they mailed the deposit back.

    The Davey Tree Expert Company
The dead tree was in a spot where machines could not get to it, so it would have to be done by hand. They were not the cheapest quote I received but they do our lawn service and they do a good job with that, I so chose them to remove the tree. They were punctual, cleaned up all their mess, and did a good job.Very pleased and would hire again.

Tree removal went very well. It was a huge old pin oak. Stump grinding took place a few days later. Allowing the ground to settle and old root to die, restoration of pavers took place a few months later. Ran into a little glitch requiring the grinder to return and a subsequent larger hole resulted in more fill and repaving than expected. The job was completed to my complete satisfaction. Everyone on the job was professional and cleaned up was excellent. I knew Davey might be a little more pricey, but sometimes you get what you pay for. The peace of mind was worth it.

We scheduled an appointment for an estimate online and got an estimate within 2 days. The estimate was a bit higher than we expected, but not completely out of range. Once we got back and let them know that we wanted to schedule the service, the service was scheduled for the next day! The crew was prompt, efficient and cleaned up after themselves completely, I couldn't have asked for a better job!
