The guy finished it up like six or eight weeks late.  He was going to start in three to four weeks and then have it completed in two weeks, and it ran on for four months.  He pretended to be the contractor in charge, but he was really a subcontractor and he got handymen to work for him off of another website.  The work was really not up to snuff.  He said he was a certified jacuzzi installer.  It was the most terrible experience.  He was rated all A's, and he had a couple of bad bids that popped up on him this year, but one of them came off.  He claims that his people that he contacts are giving him bad checks.  I gave him a check and he never even presented it, and he told me he had a bad check.  I gave him another one and that one went through.  I think he didn't have the money to pay his subcontractor guy and they were going to hold the check or something.  I don't know what exactly happened, but to this day the bank said that check had never been presented.  I don't know what to say about this.

The first guy, he went to jail, and then they didn't start for eight to ten weeks, and then the guy that was there working on the house, he got put in jail and then they hired another replacement for him.  The guy had never, ever done onyx.  He put the onyx up and he didn't let the glue dry tacky and one side of it slid down and it didn't match, but you can't get it off the wall, so I had like a half inch droop where the two pieces are supposed to meet.  It's a solid surface paneling, and in the corner where the large pieces met the big piece slid down a half an inch.  We talked to the guy and he said that he had never done it before.  He told the contractor that hired him that he had like an onyx wizard that was going to do the job for us.

He wanted half down and half when it finished, then like ten to twelve weeks in he wanted to make a draw on the last half.  It was $3900 for the labor.  We provided the materials.  Since he kind of finished it up at the end, I'd give him a D.  Timewise, the bathroom was torn up.  We didn't have a bathtub or a sink for three months.  We had a floor and a toilet.  That's what they did to start with.  Just the inconvenience of them dragging on like that, and then the guys were supposed to come and work on it, they would show up for four hours in the afternoon, then they would say they were going to be there the next day and they wouldn't show up at all.  They were only showing up two or three days a week, part time.  Apparently they had other jobs, the people that that were off of another website.  The guy that did the contracting came to do the estimate, and he never showed up after that.  Didn't inspect the work, we'd call and he'd say well, he'd do that.  Apparently, the last guy that he hired, he didn't pay him.  He told him that our check bounced, but it didn't.

The price wasn't like a super price or anything.  It was normal.  The first guy who went to jail, he really took pride in his work.  He did a good job.  Everybody else just got the job done.  Whenever we called, he would call and he'd say I'll have somebody out there tomorrow, and then we'd call back tomorrow and say nobody showed up and he'd say well I'm doing a background investigation on somebody. I hired somebody just to take care of you.  But he never, ever came back himself.  He didn't come and do the electrical that he said he was going to do.  The contractor had to get another person that did electric to do that for him.  Because it was a jacuzzi tub, I had to run electric over to it.  They weren't on time.  The most I got from him was a text or a call back.  He just didn't respond.

The guy is just hiring fools off of a website to do the work, and they may or may not be good, but he tells them one thing about what they're going to do, and then when they get out there and they see the list of what they're supposed to do, they're like well I need a job, I'll take it, but I know I'm not getting paid appropriately.  He's a smooth talker when he's selling you.  When he talks to you, he sounds like he knows what he's doing and he's your best friend, but he's lying to his customers and he's lying to his workers.  If we could write some more stuff on the internet to say how bad he was, I would.  Be cautious.  I noticed that all of his good grades were in 2016.  He was supposed to be working on our stuff and I was calling this guy that was supposed to be telling me what to order for the onyx, his so-called onyx expert, and the guy was on vacation for two weeks in early July. Then they were working on my stuff in August, the one guy that was putting the floor in, and I tried to contact him then and he was on vacation again.  They couldn't get hold of him.  There was no other in between, except you were paying him and he's like nonexistent, so to speak.  I've never seen the likes of it, especially when you're talking like $2000 - $2000.  If I hired someone for a hundred bucks off the street and they acted like that, I might expect that.
