Drywall Repair reviews in Clinton

Real People ~ Real Reviews ~ Real Results

  • My husband and I are building our own home. We received a quote from rubber city drywall the beginning of December to finish the drywall, all materials were purchased by us. It was very reasonable due to the fact the owner said he "respected what we were doing", building our own home and he said "we were the type of people he liked to help out". We waited several weeks for him to start only to have him call last week and request half of the money up front so he could "make his payroll". We told him that we were not comfortable paying him half the money upfront but could give him a portion. For anyone who ever decides to become their own general contractor, take great caution when someone asks you for half the money up front. We have worked with many subcontractors throughout this process, framers, concrete, heating and cooling, and excavators. No one has ever asked us for money up front, with the exception of the first sub we ever worked with for asphalt delivery and he took our money and ran. We had no recourse to get our money back. Every other contractor completed the work than asked for payment. Rubber city drywall called two days before they were supposed to start work and backed out because he stated "he didn't feel as though we had confidence in him because we wouldn't pay him up front". That doesn't even make sense. We've now wasted a month waiting on him and must restart the process of finding a contractor. Terrible businessman and very suspicious that he was that desperate to make his payroll he needed our money before he started the job.

  • Ron Farnsworth came to my home to view the worksite after I purchased a deal to have two ceilings (up to 12' x 14') retextured.  He stated that our ceiling would need to be scraped and primed before it could be retextured and that if we chose to do that part of the work we would save about $200.  We also asked Ron to give us a quote on making the ceiling flat instead of textured and asked him to include a bid on doing the walls in that room as well.
We received a bid to texture the ceiling for $1750 or make it smooth for $1800.  To do the walls would be $1750 textured or $1900 smooth.  I e-mailed back saying that I was very surprised by his bids because they were more than 10 times the amount of the offer.  Ron texted me saying that his wife had worked on my bids and may have transposed some figures.  The next day he resent the same bids with a line through the original figures and new figures written above. The new figures were $1650 for the ceiling and $1600 for the walls.
I e-mailed him again saying that I was not interested in these bids and asked him what his company would do to my ceiling for the $149 that I had  already paid.  He texted me saying that any of the bids could be reduced by $200 to $300.
I e-mailed on Ron on December 8th saying that I would like to have a full refund on.  I have not heard from him since then.  My credit card account has not been credited.
At this point I would like a refund of my membership dues as well.  This is a classic case of the old "bait and switch" scam.  If this is an example of the type of contractor that Angie's List recommends, I can't believe you are still in business.

  • The estimator showed up on time and gave a fair estimate for the work to be provided. The men showed up more than 2 days later than we were told. The drywall was hung and some of the receptacle and switch boxes were poorly cut leaving big gaps around at least one side of some boxes. The receptacle for the microwave was not cut out at all for nearly a week, the drywall was bowed out around that box. The guys left a piece of drywall about 6 inches by 14 inches completely out from behind the sink water supply lines and didn't mud around the wires for under counter lighting at all. I emailed the company and told them about the missed drywall and the missed mudding, the work was not done in the next week. I told the company about our urgency to get the room painted but it made no difference. The guys also left the return air ducts open when they sanded the walls along with a huge pile of drywall pieces in my garage with a huge glob of drywall mud thrown on top of it. After I complained about the issues and told the company not to return to my house. The estimator offered to clean up the scrap drywall and take $150.00 off of the price so we accepted the discount and I cleaned their mess. The experience was overall frustrating and I will not rehire Allen Kieth to do any more work.

  • Outstanding job! I'm new to the area, and I needed someone whom I could rely upon and trust. The apartment was unoccupied while they were doing the work, and they exceeded any expectations that I had. Curtis came out within two days of my initial inquiry, he surveyed the project, quoted it out, and they were to work within a couple of days. What else can I say? They did a fantastic job at a highly competitive price, and they exceeded every expectations. I will use them in the future, and I will refer family and friends. Great job CRV Drywall! Thanks for the good work!
